Hi All,

I know this is a long-rumored, long-desired track, and is supposedly going to be on the new 5-CD/DVD Super Deluxe Edition (boot) of Purple Rain. My question is has ANYBODY actually heard this track and can they confirm that it exists? If so, what is extended about it? Does it follow the pattern of most P. extended B-sides and just keep going after where the 7" fades? I'd love to know more about this supposed track and haven't seen any threads about it, so I thought I'd start one now!

Yeah, but just because he posted the photo doesn't necessarily mean that he has the actual track. I mean ANYONE could edit info on iTunes and make it look like they have all sorts of goodies! To wit:

i don't like this guy at all, he's just making up things (wally take 1) and showing off.
I dont know him, is he musician? Shouldnt he be worried more about his own music? Everytime i see his name it's because he 'has' some rare Prince song....

No!!! That last photo was one I took myself!! I edited titles in iTunes to make it look like I had these songs just to prove that ANYONE can do it! I don't actually have these nor do they exist (as far as I know). The LAST thing I want to do is start more rumors!!

Yes, there is also a "fan made" extended version, do not be fooled by that. There is a LEGIT extended version that continues from the fade as described, yes Questlove has it and has played it in some of his sets, yes others have it and thankfully it won't be long until everyone has it.

I personally cannot speak if the "extended version" on this Purple Rain bootleg is the LEGIT extended version or the fan made one, but rest assured the LEGIT extended version will be "freed" sooner than you think if that is not what is on this Purple Rain boot.

We..we've got a fan version and a whole lot of heresay. No proof of an official extended. The fade out on the released version seems quite natural for the time. Not everything was 'America' back then. Might have gone on for another 10 seconds and that's it for all we know. Where did it end up? a B-side on a single, I'm not that sure Prince dug it that much. Certainly never got the career length love 'She's Always In My Hair' got from him. Interesting one though.

If you're talking about "17 Days" there IS proof of an official extended version. Questlove has played it at DJ sets, fans have heard him play it, some collectors have it. Not only does it extend from the 7" version that was released, it is a bit more demo-like in sound. Please keep in mind all these new outtakes/alternates that just came out on the Eye sets have been sat on by collectors for YEARS, so not sure why you'd question the validity of this existing as well. There is still a LOT of stuff people are sitting on. But a lot of this will also be coming out. 4.0 & 5.0 are not the last of the Blast From The Past sets. I've been a fan and collector since 84, I have no time to come on here just to BS you. An extended "17 Days" does exist, you either believe me or you will when it eventually makes it "out there".

Where do you think much of the stuff on BFTP 4.0 & 5.0 came from? Stuff that was sat on for years was sold. And there is a lot more of it than what just came out.

Now I know nothing about tracklists, what they will decide to release and when but just think of what we know is out there but hasn't made it out to be shared with everyone (yet) as a hint. Stuff like "Yo Mister", "Cool Love", "17 Days" (extended), more alternates of songs we know, more stuff with different arrangements like the Clare Fischer version of "Others Here With Us" that was just freed, songs not even listed on Prince Vault. Also more soundboard concerts.

We'll all just have to be patient, but Boston Metro, Rainmaker and these Blast From The Past sets are just the beginning.

I hope it does exist, but who is to say what Mr .Gomez played is legit? He is a DJ, he entends shit by nature, mixes stuff. I am sure he could easily mix something together and pass it off for an official 17 days extended version.
