Autorip has been added to both physical versions of Purple Rain Deluxe on Amazon. So that's a cool bonus for the people that already preordered. [Edited 6/19/17 20:36pm]

When is it released though? For past releases, was placed in your library date it is shipped (generally 2 days prior to release). So does that mean we'll be able to access it on Wednesday?

Seems pre-orders are arriving: .

Really? This set looks amazing. I won't be buying a bootleg but I'll very much look forward to listening to it. RIP

I will give it a listen anyway, but I know the First Avenue show will leak in pristine sound quality sooner or later (maybe official, don't know where that LGC clip came off), so I'm not interested to add this 3CD to my physical collection.

In Amazon Spain the price of the 3CD+DVD version has been lowered to 24,99€, and now it includes Autorip (spanish Amazon is always the last to do these kind of things). At least we will be able to listen to it before it is delivered. [Edited 6/20/17 15:45pm]

Not sure if everyone knows this, but if you ordered from Amazon, you can request to have it delivered on Friday the 23rd, the release date. They did it free of charge for me! Also, AutoRip is now added! [Edited 6/20/17 19:35pm]

from Amazon
Physical albums (including CD, vinyl, and other formats) that are shipped and sold by Amazon and are eligible for AutoRip include an AutoRip logo on the detail page. When searching Amazon, you can also select the AutoRip search filter to narrow your results to eligible albums. After you purchase an eligible AutoRip album, a free MP3 version of that album is added to My Music. This typically happens right away, but in some cases it can take up to 48 hours after your order has shipped. Note: Orders that include one or more items marked as a gift are not eligible for AutoRip.
You can then access, stream, and/or download the MP3 version of the album through Amazon Music for Web or the Amazon Music app on any of your compatible devices. For more information, go to:

darkroman said: Autorip is available on release day Really? I did not know this. I hope it's not just an old album version and the full 3 disc set also. Some of them at least have to be from the new set as we've never even heard them before... (Well at least I haven't..)

According to the fact that we are talking of 30 years ago recordings and that for many years I listened to sub-quality tapes and CDs of those, I have nothing to be upset. On this first listen "OD/RG" and "Katrina's Paper Dolls" seem to be the worst sounding, but even those sound great the same. Again, I could be wrong on this. I listened to 3/4 "sequences" in the song, no more. Anyway, in my file I can detect a minor dropou on the sound right before the start of drum track. Nothing to write home about, but I hope this is a defect of the file and not of the original CD. Probably my favourite version will remain the 1986 version, but this one is an absolute gem.

Yep Wonderful Ass sounds identical to the circulating '86 version to me.
The Dance Electric is a different mix the circulating version. I like it!

Well, the reissue is out there. However, I'm going to stand fast and wait until the autorip hits my cloud. I've waited this long (seems like a lifetime) so I can endure one or two extra days.

Can we please change the title of this thread? Please make it more clear this is the failed WB product with PR content. . This is to contrast with the <eye> records rainmaker release that has more interesting content than the WB release. Samples etc are floating around. No, I cannot help you here. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Can someone review LOVE AND SEX???
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I've only been listening to the outtakes album for now. I really like the sound quality, although I still don't understand why Our Destiny and Roadhouse Garden had to be joined at the hip. . As far as coolness of the tracks goes, I'll make it short: . -The Dance Electric: better sound than what we had, but I had expected it better somehow. Track is mostly the same as what we have, although the mix is slightly different . -Love and Sex: from the descriptions this was the song I was looking forward to most. And if you have high expectations... it doesn't work for me. It never swings proper. It's a try at a gospel funk track, but done by the Purple Rain era band, who never did groove that way. It never really works... It's got all the ingredients, but the meal isn't satisfying. Maybe it'll grow on me. . -Hallway Speech: better sound than I anticipated. Great version, as wel all know. . -Electric Intercourse: we've had it for a while. The inferior cousin to the beautiful ones. For what it's worth, I prefer it to the live version. Still doesn't make it a classic. . -Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden: probably the worst sounding songs on the album. If they are good or not as songs has been debated to death. Next. . -Possessed: Unfortunately, it is indeed the version from the movie, but with vocals, which does make it a bit better. Both the live versions and the older version are better. . -Wonderful Ass: the surprise of the album. It's what was thought of as the '86 version. (The Revolution Will Be Heard!) Great sound. The standout track to me this far. Happy to finally hear this without being bothered by the audio quality. . -Velvet Kitty Cat: a lightweight song like the Vanity 6 album is stuffed with. Fun little ditty though. Unless I'm mistaken, it's a slightly different mix from what we had. Sounds good. . -Katrina's Paper Dolls: fits perfectly with Velvet Kitty Cat, same type of lightweight song, with a bit more bottom in the mix though. Pleasant. Might grow on me. . -We can Fuck: basically the 10+ minute version we had as outtake from Grafitti Bridge. But then without Clinton additions. Sounds pretty good. I get the feeling he didn't know what to do with the last 4 minutes, so it just kinda continues without actually going anywhere. . -Father's Song: if only I had the multitrack tapes from this. Audioquality is ok, but the recording itself... bleed from other tracks, an attack in the "piano" (I suspect it to be a synthesizer) that literally hurts my ears if I turn up the volume a bit. And a shame he doesn't even develop the melody as far as he does in the released Computer Blue. Wish I could remix it and generally mess with it. . All in all, great to get these tracks. I'll be sure to buy it a few times in the hopes that then more of these deluxe packs will be commisioned for his other albums. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!
