My new Top 3 from that list is...

.

.

1. The Arms of Orion

2. Good Love

3. Still Would Stand All Time

.

.

In addition I think the hashtag #Prince4Xmas should be used. It could coincide with #Prince4Ever being publicised so when people start to type in #Prince4..... then both results should prefill and appear.

Ooh I like that! batman

My bizarre choice would be '18 & Over'. Is that a sleigh bell i hear? But, whatever gets pushed I'm happy. wink

lol can I consider the above as your vote ? (18 & Over and Good Love not being available for download yet)

I'm getting all christmassy now lol

Image result for santa sleigh emoticon

Edit. 'Good Love' IS available for download on iTunes on the Soundtrack for Bright Lights Big City.

You could! But I'm going with 'Still Would Stand All Time' or 'Moonbeam Levels'... if it becomes available on it's own. So for now..."Still would.."

Ok, thanks. Moonbeam levels would have been my close second, if it had been available... cool

For me, the choice of song (that isn't an old hit), to gain traction beyond fans still has to sound modern, relevant and playable. Radio 2 will playlist a track that suits their audience.

Personally, I think the song '4ever' hits all the spots. Catchy as hell (several of my casual fans all like this one), relevant on today's radio, and obviously the title of the next album.

To be a hit, it needs to go beyond a bunch of fans doing a bulk purchase. It needs casuals to get behind it. Much as I like songs like ' Still' and 'The Cross', the UK radio stations will only get behind them once they are forced too in a chart countdown. The sound 30 years old.

'4Ever' stands a chance of being picked on merit alone, and that is needed to be a hit.

Thanks Spayne, I had seen it the first time round but for some reason couldn't find it again when I repeated the search from my chromebook. Nice one! smile

I totally agree that 4Ever sounds like it would get good airplay on Radio2, unfortunately I can't find this as a download. sad

Why do we still need `validation`, even after his death?

We've already been through this on another thread udo... it's not 'validation' as you say, we're just trying to spread his music and bring it to wider audiences, so they get a chance to discover him too. It's like sharing something you enjoy with others, who for one reason or another might not have had a chance to hear anything else than Purple Rain or TMBGITW... wink

I'm with Udo on this, this does smack more of validation than anything else.

Maybe it's an age thing but I fail to see the point of "campaigns" like this...

I like this a lot.

Also, given it's on the new album, Moonbeam Levels may be a better choice than most.

For udo and hw3004 - I kinda understand your thinking there, but if I'm honest, I'd go even further here and pick 10 songs to make the whole top 10. The charts in the UK are all but dead, only at Xmas do many people take notice, and the entire world should be reminded that 2016, and every year going forward, is the year of Prince.

So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Is it a different version from the one in Crystal Ball? It appears to be slightly longer...

Moonbeam levels all the way.

It will have the new hits package behind it and also the mythology to hype it up.

Plus it is a great song.

I thought the whole problem with "Moonbeam" is that it won't be available to download on its own?

Anyway, it's not for me, and I don't see it working - unless WB actually got behind a particular track on the back of the new compilation - but best of luck.

It isn't available for the moment, but it might be available at a later date, who knows... Nothing stops us from downloading that one too whenever it becomes available and I am sure a lot of people will.

Ah yes, sorry I was in a bit of a hurry at the time and my keyboard is struggling with the shift key at the moment lol. It's a shame that you can't participate, but there is no obligation to do so and I understand if you don't feel like it's the right thing to do.

You never know with things like this...

.

It's worked twice on two previous occasions with campaigns from groups of people.

.

1. 2009 - Rage Against The Machine getting to No. 1 over the X Factor single (that group of people wanted someone else other than X Factor to be No. 1)

.

2. 2013 - The Munchkins - Ding Dong The Witch is Dead reaching No. 2 after another campaign by people, the week Magaret Thatcher died.

.

After a year of 2016 musical deaths I think this could be another year for a grass-roots campaign and as today the majority of sales are digital now, it could be even more likely.

It just seems pointless (to me) to fork out 99p or whatever it costs to download something from iTunes for a lower quality version of a song I already own...

On the other hand I'm quite happy to spend £10 for 39 songs I already own to get an official version of Moonbeam Levels! Now, if someone at Warners had the bright idea of a physical release of Moonbeam Levels as a single, with a couple of other unreleased/ alternative versions, the campaign would make a bit more sense to me! Like I said, it's probably an age thing!

Cliff Richard will release a single, the BBC will put it to number one and your Princemas idea will be crushed.
