This. Of course it's none of my business and it's up to the family but as extreme as he was about his privacy I really can't see him wanting this. Some celebrities/people would but him - no way

It looks cheap, tacky and like a toy dollhouse. Not something becoming of our beloved Prince. Really don't like this... find it difficult to think that Prince would want his urn to be on display like it is.

Prince was so private, reclusive and hidden he never invited his regular fans into his home to party like all other celebrities do. His MO was to stay as far away from them as possible, locked in a room somewhere, that was our Prince.

Nope, Prince has never done anything unusual or out the box . Prince has been a model of convention and conformity in all things he's done. Prince has never done anything shocking. He's never, ever been accused of being tacky. And when he performed for his fans if it wasn't for free, no seat was ever more than $5 because he was never about making money when you came to see him. Yep this urn is completely destroying his legacy.

Given the volume of ashes that a person normally creates, there's no way the ashes are hidden in this. I'm guessing the ashes are in a box that sits inside this box. For those who have seen it on display at PP, is it closed up or does it have the front open?
It is pretty tacky... but then PP in general is a bit gaudy so it kinda fits.

I agree, but I think it's fake to get more visitors to the museum. Welcome 2 The Dawn

Yep. Plus, you would have had people trying to find where the elevator was if there was no fake urn. His ashes are nowhere near that urn - trust me. One day I hope someone puts together something for the real fans, instead of this stupid museum bullshit out to get our cash. [Edited 10/11/16 3:48am]

He was so private throughout his whole career so why would he want his ashes passed by people daily...not buying it. Thats the thing tho. He WAS private when he was alive. Or at least one half of his personality was. His lyrics/music were often an open book. And being as spiritual as he was i cannot imagine the placement of his ashes in PP, where he lived loved n created for 30 yrs, would bother him or cause him eternal agony or w/e..I can even perhaps believe that the surprising n unexpected display is fitting of his unpredictable and contradictory nature. If what Tyka says is true, that he felt he had fulfilled his purpose here, then i believe in his Afterlife, this urn placement is an earthly non-issue to him...In fact i dont even believe ALL his ashes are there. If a typical Gemini, like he displayed all his life, perhaps part of his ashes are on display in PP and maybe part are hidden somewhere else, be it within or outside of PP. THAT seems way more fitting... She is his sister. She lived him. Whether we agree or disagree with the decisions she is left to make, she is doing what she believes he would have wanted. Tough spot for her to be right now when there is no will. I believe however that she has good intentions and is not trying to benefit from his death. She is doing the best she can to respect his wishes. This is my normal life. These marital standards cannot be recreated with money.

His cremains are supposedly in a purple-colored box inserted into the urn. The box is not pictured in the People photos. I think Prince belongs at PP. It may have been more appropriate to have him in a separate chapel-like room.

Why must everyone complain about everything?
The fact is that it's not up to any of us, it's what his family wants. Let's at least be respectful. If you don't like it, don't go. If you go and don't want to look, don't look. None of us have the right to tell that family what or what not to do.
I like it, I think it's very fitting.

In latter years Prince was all about dignity & class [Gold Standard!]..this 'urn' leaves me heartbroken & frankly speechless. The intentions were probably good BUT it's been horribly misjudged.

Those who wanted a public memorial said it's not about him (because he's not here) but about the "fams" who are grieving and need "closure". In that case the whole he was private or consideration of what he would have wanted argument seems to be thrown out the window. So when it comes to a public memorial privacy and what he might have wanted/not wanted doesn't matter but for everything else it does? Paisley Park is in your heart

Prince was ultra controlled and private. So, is it possible that he didn't care about what happened to his remains (and money ) as evident by him not bothering to lease a will? Either that or it was a major misstep on his part to forget to plan for his final disposition. I lean towards thinking he probably didn't care what happened because he didn't need his body or money where he was going. He didn't even bother to identify an executor which , to me, is a possible slight to his family. Tyka saying that he told her "he's done everything he came to do" was not cryptic language letting her know he was dying. I heard him say something very similar to that in an interview. I think it's just her making sense of his death. Prince made music, movies, toured the world many times over, and had been at the top so he HAD done everything. If Prince saw himself as some sort of gift or messenger sent here to make music, that explains his desire to have absolute control....but only while he was on earth. I don't think he's haunting the halls of PP. he's probably far far away from all of this. The urn is a little gimmicky. It's possible that only part of his remains are contained within. RIP ...P. He was the best.

once again here's the problem....people r so concernred with this stuff rather than whats important..his music and how it will affect the future (and curent) generation

People are missing the point of the thread - it's about urn pictures being in a Magazine & now all over the internet, not whether or not it's right to keep his remains at PP or if the urn should be a miniture PP.

For me that's what all this is about - his legacy & being true to him. Like I said earlier his death has become a sideshow- you can't be critical of people reacting to that, this stuff is everywhere it's very hard to escape from all the shit.

I am not disagreeing that this may be his wish, we don't really know.
But the statement "as his only fully blooded sibling she would know...", ummmm, not really. There are many people who have full blooded siblings that don't know jack. Friends, cousins etc, can be closer and have better ideas of what a person wants than a sibling.
Her being his sibling means nothing more than they had the same parents.
He didn't care enough about any of his siblings, full or half, to leave a will. Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up
