http://heavy.com/entertainment/2016/04/prince-funeral-memorial-service-when-where-ashes-buried-los-angeles-date-how-attend/ so why did his publicist say that they decided to spread his ashes on a private location in April? but now they have his ashes?

[Edited 10/11/16 4:26am]

That article quotes another article that quotes another article that quotes another article that quotes his publicist as saying "Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private". She never said anything about spreading the ashes, only that their storage location would be private. That was on April 23rd, though. The family could have changed their mind since then.

In latter years Prince was all about dignity & class [Gold Standard!]..this 'urn' leaves me heartbroken & frankly speechless. The intentions were probably good BUT it's been horribly misjudged.

co-sign. whatever their intentions they missed the mark by a mile. i was sadden to hear their plans for PPMu, the manifestation of those plans has left me stunned- and i have a master's degree in art history and museum managment. 4yrs of this is going to seem like dog yrs. i can't imagine how you undo/correct the impression of all this. for all of p's planning, the execution reads as very lifeless. prince was SO dynamic!! there has to be some way to translate/ communicate that energy in the rooms. the whole urn issue and model size PP ..... i just can't. disbelief

I didn't have a problem with it until the pics showed up in People magazine. That's where it went south.
Also, it's been reported that the model only contains a portion of the cremains. There must be another plan, or plans, for the rest of the cremains. I think that at least some of them will be spread at another undisclosed location.

Why must everyone complain about everything?

The fact is that it's not up to any of us, it's what his family wants. Let's at least be respectful. If you don't like it, don't go. If you go and don't want to look, don't look. None of us have the right to tell that family what or what not to do.

I like it, I think it's very fitting.

I thought this thread was about the urn being in people magazine so saying if you don't want to go don't is somewhat redundant. I hadn't even wanted to see the pictures but someone posted it on facebook thanks to it being in the magazine.

EXACTLY! I had to remove myself from several FB groups yesterday because I couldn't look at my own timeline without seeing it every three to four posts. disbelief

People are missing the point of the thread - it's about urn pictures being in a Magazine & now all over the internet, not whether or not it's right to keep his remains at PP or if the urn should be a miniture PP.

You are absolutely correct!

Trying to make folks happy is utterly a complete waste of time.

Said right here on the Org 10/8/16

I feel torn about it. On one hand I think its gimmicky and especially the place where they put it- in the atrium. Making it literally the first thing you see when you go into Paisley now. And how they haven't released images of it- proving it's soley just there as a money-making thing.

Personally if they're okay with having it on display, I think they should also release a press image of it too.

On the other hand, I think its good for fans to be able to pay their respects now and have a physical thing to do so to. I just think they could have chosen the placement a little better, I don't like the idea of having it be the first thing you see for some reason that I just can't quite figure out.

Yeah maybe it is a little tacky to post the pictures in People mag and give promotion to Foreverence company for the creation. But I get it. It is for informational purposes and I feel it is actually helpful for people that cannot get to Paisley Park right now and for the fans all over the world. Now we can all see what Prince's ashes are being held in.

+++

I have to admit at first I was like what the heck in a little mini PP? No way! But upon reviewing the pictures and quickie video, and hearing from the fans that actually went to Paisley Park to see it first hand, I do not think it looks tacky, cheap, disgraceful and I do not get what all the fuss is about.

+++

It is a custom made urn made out of quality materials and it looks like Paisley Park, the place Prince loved and worked so hard for. I feel it is kool and is what Prince would have liked and to be in and also placed in the atrium to greet all of us fans who loved and respected him so much.

I love the idea of Prince being at Paisley Park.....but Prince being in a Paisley Park in Paisley Park seems silly.

I've got the same tiles in my downstairs toilet, which doesn't help. It does look like a toy set. I'll bet, as time goes on, that no evidence (all these supposed emails and plans) about Prince wanting to be layed to rest in this manner. will ever come to light.

I think the urn, or the urn turned into the symbol would have been far more fitting.

I think it distatsteful to have this in People magazine. Almost like advertising for the tours.

The small scale PP as an urn looks childish. Almost, like a Barbie doll house.

Starrdust505

I want to support the family and have no intention of ever disrespecting them, even when I may disagree with some of their actions regarding Prince, but I can't help feeling increasingly more uncomfortable with everything. And yes it's not about me but this doesn't sit right!

.

Although I think it's only right that his ashes are at PP, I find it hard to believe that this man who I have known to be extremely private throughout his life would want his urn to be displayed like this. If this was REALLY Prince's wishes, I would have no right to comment and would remain silent. I'm not family, or a close friend, I'm just a fan who wishes that the same dignity and respect that Prince carried in life was given to him in death. It's so sad. disbelief

This ship has sailed, "Shelia".

It's nothing but a publicity stunt to make Graceland, pardon me, Paisley Park
into a tourist-milking machine.

The pre-opening video tour of PP was obscene, you can tell from the conveniently sad faces of these old farts that Prince seldom spoke to these "sisters", Tyka included.
Blood speaks when money requires it.
If anyone of them were substantial to Prince's life, I think we would know by now.

The Urn being on public display has to be a business/family choice and not a Prince one. And I may not be for a public display, but that doesn't matter in the bigger scheme of things. Family gets to choose not fans, fams, or me. Get off your high horse and put your feelings aside of what you'd think Prince would want, because you don't really know. Only Prince knows.

Prince has always said it was about the music and that is what really matters. Please find solace in that, in the end nothing else truly matters.

What ever they do at the Paisley Park building doesn't change his music.

I agree. That is very tacky. I love Sheila E., but it just seems like her and others who knew & worked with Prince keep using phrases and such attached to his name. I dunno, but I've been noticing that a lot since Prince passed.

It's funny how tragedy (and money) bring people together.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...
