 how private Prince was I find this uncomfortable, disturbing. Prince's privacy and his life work was paramount. He deserves better than this. I am finding this all deeply upsetting this is not how I (we) know of him. | |

Let me say something in horrible taste - just add water and we will have Prince back.
I have very mixed feelings about this. Why not just display his ashes in a Tang jar?
But yet, he's home. He is where he felt most comfortable in life. Why should his death not be the same?
We will never know if Prince WANTED this or not. I hope they haven't given his wishes the shaft. It's too easy to say this is just another side show attraction to draw people in. When thinking of how well the rest of the exhibits have been manucured, I can only say 'Chaos and Disorder' when you throw this urn out front.
Prince was always so private when it came to his person, I wonder if he knew this was on display would the brother rather be on Mars?
He loved Paisley Park for sure. He's certainly strapped down there now.
But, maybe he did want this. Maybe this is his flag waving, stating I lived and built this place, and it will always be a part of me, and me a part of it.
People probably go into a trance looking at this thing, more than they do when entering the Purple Rain room. I don't know if anyone could fully get this out of their mind for the rest of the tour.

I was there on opening day. The urn is actually quite pretty considering what it is. Why the working lights though? Whatever... Prince's ashes, or at least some of his ashes, are in a small ceramic purple box. You can see it through the window just above the horn in the symbol or below the single pyramid window. I think Prince would think it's cool.
Do you really think he would want to be placed in a plain old vase and tucked away somewhere? Do you think Prince would want his ashes scattered over one of the lakes in MN? His sister knows Prince better than we do.
Paisley Park is where he lived and died. It's the place he found creativity, peace and love.
It's a place he spent most of his time, creating and recording. I would think he would want Paisley Park to continue as a place for his fans to enjoy, play a little ping pong, plinck on a piano, strum on a guitar and just continue to create as he did.
Prince is home. And he there to greet every adoring fan as they enter his home. And it's also a place fans have a chance to finally pay their respects.

I don't know what all the over-catastrophizing is about.
People are cremated every day. There are millions upon millions of people who choose that for themselves or their loved ones. We don't know what Prince's choice was, or even if he ever expressed one. But I feel he must have said something to someone at some point if they chose this, or it wouldn't have been done. Prince was very aware that he had a legacy. And as private as he was, a legacy is public and he wanted it to continue in his home, his music and those he helped and loved. I can't think of a better place for him to be now, than with his fans AND family members and friends...anyone who comes to his home to see him. Yes, it is sad but he loved us and what his family has given us by putting his ashes there for us to be in the presence of us a tremendous, trusting gift of sharing! I picture him in a grave somewhere else and it feels wrong, lonely...for him to be apart from his home and everyone who goes there. The cremation bothered me horribly when it first happened. So I do understand why people are so upset. But Prince is free. And he was strong. We've had some time to mourn now and we should start trying to live a little and be happy. It's his spirit that matters, and that can never be taken away, and it lives on. Prince was so courageous. He had such a faith and a trust in God - and I believe he is a part of the universe now which permeates all. He's with us anywhere we are. I know because some of us have felt it. Go out and have a good day today. Be happy. Love each other. That's what matters and I think that's what he really wants. [Edited 10/11/16 7:39am] | |

Maybe the intention was good (Prince receiving his fans at the entrance, in a clear, big space, with natural light, instead of a dark space with an altar where people would instantly cry) but of course it will arise all kinds of comments and opinions.
Anyway, I do think it´s nice that we can pay our respects (as Morrison´s fans do it in Pere Lachaise) somehow. Guess with time they will study other possibilities to honor his memory and display the urn properly (I do agree that he wouldn´t like that though).

At least fans and family are consistent in unintentionally embarassing him in life and death, that's sorta sweet.
All I need now is the awesome Prince doll with wadrobe to move-in to the urn dollhouse.
At least that doll is artisticly immaculate and there'd be some humor in that, as he'd appreciate.
Tried to be optimistic yesterday, but it is what it is, and we can just say it.

Wow, it's not looking good. Can't reconcile that with Prince's sense of style, always dressed to the nines and now his ashes are in a Lego house?
Makes sense that PP is his final resting place but why the public display and now magazine feature? Just tasteless.
I suspect the family is not very sophisticated and/or they are getting bad advice and people are taking advantage of them and Prince's death.
