If you listen to any of his interviews, whether from the 90s or since Prince's death, it's very clear that this smug pr!ck thinks he was smarter than Prince. Sort of a real-life Bart, if such a thing could exist.
Does anyone seriously think anyone will mourn him when he's gone? More like, who? (Oh yeah, some guy that wrote liner notes for one of Prince's albums, also managed the roadies for several of Prince's tours.)
Didn't he post some crap on Facebook after Prince played SNL in 2014? I remember reading it here. That performance blew me away. And I'm not the only one....do a Twitter search and you'll see a lot of people felt the same way.
Yes! Remember it was like "less is more" & something about Prince having agendas. Just sounds bitter and twisted. Didn't he say he wanted to manage the vault like he'd done for James Brown?

i remember alan saying that people have asked him to consult on the vault. i think AL also mentioned it in the interview he gave to the org back in 2004 or something. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND |

Can't Leeds ever say anything without one-upmanship being interjected?
I don't like this comment. Was it really necessary for him to establish some kind of elitist pecking order?
"There were a handful of people from each era of Prince but this was not a reunion for every damn person who ever worked for him. It was mostly those from way back in the day...Andre, Dez, Craig Rice, Me, Gilbert Davison and a smattering of folks from his most recent years."
He stopped working with Prince around 1993 or so? I guess he feels his 'era' was superior. If that's so I think he's full of it. Folks like John Blackwell, Rhonda Smith, Morris Hayes, Ida Nielsen are as good as anyone he worked with in the 80s.
FWIW his comment does seem bitchy or elitist to me. alan was around for the apotheosis, the trip to the mountain top. to the popular conscious that's the only period that matters. no one has been singing 'musicology', 'push it up' or 'screwdriver' for the last four months, and i wouldn't look for it to happen. blackwell, ida and the rest mentioned were as good or better musicians than some of the others but no one cares. === to most people early prince = PR = prince and the revolution and late prince = prince live = prince and whatever touring band he had. The musicolgy tour grossed 80 million and thousands of dollars have been donated to John's Go/Fund Me page. So people care. The truth of the matter is Alan left to take a job at WB how long do you think he stayed there? He made a bad carreer decision and never really recovered. Prince rocked on does anyone think he was able to keep Paisley Park open by selling symbol pendents? He always found a way to get the dollars rolling in. Prince was sitting on 50 million dollars in Real Estate and who know what other investments he had. Alan knows he messed up. |

Anyway the event in October is for the fans and I think it's unrealistic to expect it to be free. I'm looking forward to that event. I think it will allow people to grieve but also have fun which is what Prince would want IMO.
On my Facebook today:
PRINCE OFFICIAL TRIBUTE CONCERT ANNOUNCED
Months after the world lost singer Prince to chronic pain,
his family has finally announced plans for an official tribute concert to celebrate the late artists’ life. Slated for October 13, the concert will be held at the U.S. Bank Stadium in his hometown of Minneapolis. Tickets go on sale this month, and participating artist will be announced on a rolling basis.
According to an official statement from the family: “We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince’s life, music and legacy, and there is no better place to do it than his hometown of Minneapolis… We are honored by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible.”
Check back for more information regarding the event as it is revealed.

There's nothing rude in what I said. Were you really expecting there to be a public funeral where you could go look at a casket or a corpse? Prince clearly never intended that to happen.
What exactly would you propose?
Well, saying things like "I feel entitled" is a bit of a jab, imo. There are plenty of other people who feel the same way I do. I've explained myself on this subject already several times. We all have an opinion, so let's leave it at that.

//- Your comment about know one caring. Musicolgy was the biggest grossing your Prince ever according to AEG Live. Prince did fine without Alan and he never made smug ass comments about Alan in the media. Maxwell and D'Angelo are never going to be as big as Prince and their track records are poor. I am glad Alan made more money with WB but how long did that last? How long was P chugging along after Alan left. The tour manager needs to stick to finding hotel rooms.

Let's be honest....how many celebrities that die allow fans into private memorials? Seems to me The few that do are the exception not the norm. And as far as the memorial concert being too late...Freddie Mercury died in November 1991, his tribute concert didn't happen until April 1992.
US Bank stadium, where this concert is taking place, didn't even officially open until late July and there were already events planned for August. And once September rolls around Football season starts. I suppose the family could have tried to squeeze the concert in sometime in August but what if they were still lining up performers. It could be as simple as the date they choose was a date that all the performers they wanted could make it and it didn't conflict with the Vikings schedule. We don't know what the family is all going through but I'm going to guess they're not sitting around twiddling their thumbs looking for something to do. Paisley Park is in your heart

That's what I'm wondering? The 3 that get mentioned, damn near whole families' are connected to the business in some major way. Everybody elses regular families I don't remember big productions. Could be wrong.

Did David Bowie have a public memorial? I didn't really follow his death much. I know Natalie Cole had a service but I don't think it was open to the public. I know sound like a broken record (and probably piss some people off ) but I firmly do not believe its Prince's family's responsibility to provide "closure" for his fans. I think this concert is a really nice gesture and hopefully it will help but at the end of the day we all gotta find our own closure in our own way. That's my believe anyway.
