I've always found it very likely that he had made one or more women pregnant along the way, quite possibly without ever knowing about it. Or he was exaggerating his promiscuity which was equally possible. But to be going on like he appeared to be and never have an "accident"? That's never seemed entirely possible to me.

That obviously doesn't mean there are kids out there. Some could have chosen abortion, again without necessarily letting him know about the pregnancy.

I have a very promiscuous father and feel certain that I have half-siblings scattered around from Greenland to Thailand. It's not really a big deal to me, merely a logical consequence of that lifestyle.

But I hope that he knew if he did have children and that he was able to interact with the child. And I hope even more strongly that the person is given the option to remain anonymous - and takes it.

I know this is an adult, but it is painful to think what's happened to Michael's children after he died. Please don't let anything like that happen to a child and potential grandchildren of Prince.

Consider the source though - the Santa Monica Observer is the rag that was pushing the whole "HIV-positive" angle for weeks and weeks. I'm taking this "news" with a grain of salt for now. Plus, "independent genetic testing" - so, that's not exactly official it seems...

Yep! And what kind of Jerry Springer company is Heir Hunters? Why not engage the services of an actual lawyer? Tyka and the estate are being quiet because that's exactly what they need to be doing at this point. Let's see what happens...

.

Uhhh....I have one big question:

I'm not believing a word of this until I hear it from the courts.

Has anything even been submitted to the court?

Where would they have obtained Prince's DNA?

Has any paperwork been submitted to the court from this "son"?

ALSO: is this the same person who the courts rejected as an heir because he had later been adopted and thus no longer Prince's legal heir?

.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Only if he had a relationship with this person. Again, that's IF this is true. IF it was a child he never knew about and never met I don't think it's right that they deserve his estate (though they probably would get some of it anyway).

It's not a matter of whether it'd be right or wrong, it's about enforcing the law. By law, the son has a right to everything, it is up to him if he wants all the fortune, or some of it, or none at all. As tempting as money can be, I don't know about him but the one thing I would want is my anonymity, if that means settling for less of the fortune then so be it.
[Edited 7/28/16 6:22am]

I understand the law. I just don't think it's right. If someone knew about a child they had and had a relationship with them (or were providing financial support) that would be one thing. But if you never met this person and didn't even know they were your child why should they be entitled to your estate?

the harsh truth is this is why he should have had a damn will. With a will none of this would matter. It would be like "oh that is interesting but sorry you're not in the will..."

So yes it is RIGHT that any child(ren) of his get it all.

A forgotten pair of drawers? P would've never noticed since he wasn't a regular wearer.

Several other ways could be a used toothbrush or hairbrush or comb.

And lastly, the "deposit"
he left behind.

It happens all the time, the only difference is that it's a major star like Prince we're talking about and his fans are obviously going to be outspoken about how it isn't fair.

Interesting that the first thread about this gets shut down for being a rumour but this one is fine.

Anyway Dr. Funk had apologised for posting the story, though other Prince sites have tweeted it too.

I really hope this is a fake story. I can imagine Warners would be straight on to the kid wanting to buy the lot.

CROWNS1

It would be possible that he had a financial agreement with the boy and/or his mother. Back in the 80's genetic testing would have not been an option, and if she was claiming he was the father of her child, maybe he didn't believe her but paid them off to keep quiet. That might create a situation if he comes forth now to claim he is the son, it might void the NDA he made with the mother back in the 80's...

Sure it was... DNA testing was around by 84... sure it got better and cheaper over the next 10 to 15 years but it was a thing.

As to an NDA it would not have applied to the kid unless it was redone after he turned 18.

There was a rumour going around in the 90s, that at Paisley Park jams/parties, there was always a young kid hanging around in the shadows and it quite possible that he was Princes' son!!

[Edited 7/28/16 1:57am]

Yes, this. I have heard this before about a young toddler hanging around PP. Also, heard about the daughter that will not be coming forward as she is not interested in the money and is being taken care of by her family.

I think this story is rubbish. No reputable paper has published this story. Also even Dr. Funkenberry has taken it down and retracted it. We should wait for info from Bremer Trust., although I am highly inclined to believe Prince couldn't make babies given the failed attempts he had trying with his first wife and the lack of a child with his second who went on to have two healthy children with her second husband. Just a theory though, which I'm sure many of you also have.

Yep! gots candy and popcorn along with strong drinks for those of us that might need it and for the kiddies or those that wish not to drink strong drinks ENDLESS coffee, sodas, teas, juices and things as this might require round the clock observation. Who's calling first watch? Also got your choices of bean bag chairs, fold out comfy camping chairs with cup holders, foot rests and trays to eat on. We got a smoking section for us cig smokers...gotta get a loan for more cigs at this rate though.. eek lol

If this is true, I just hope he knew. But I can't understand why he didn't make him a part of his life if having kids was what he wanted. It kind of makes me sad that all this came after we lost him. sad

Only if he had a relationship with this person. Again, that's IF this is true. IF it was a child he never knew about and never met I don't think it's right that they deserve his estate (though they probably would get some of it anyway).

They deserve all of it legally and morally. If it's true, Prince is that child's father. It doesn't matter whether or not Prince knew the child. Most likely he did though, and this is the relevant information the judge requested his former attorneys release. This could be great news biggrin

I don't think this is the same claim. I read similar reports about the BET Awards and Caesar Capriccio, who is allegedly Cat Glover's son.

Jesus. Would you give it a rest already? Cat has said that she did not have any children by Prince!

You already had a thread shut down in Associated Artists on this subject. So just quit it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
