I will enver understand why you Americans are so extremely obsessed with ageing.

It's NORMAL.

You wanna die being 90yo looking 20something ?!

Looking unhuman with teeth white as paper ?

Silicon everywhere ?

Hair removed where not wanted ?

Etc ?

Because Americans don't think anyone over 40 can have a good life. And it is so freakin' annoying. I say this as an American, who invariably rolls her eyes every time people excitedly inform me I don't look 40. I do look 40, I just don't look like an old dried up hag, as is what's expected of anyone over 30. And I seem to be remarkably cheerful about being 40. Because, yanno, there's nothing wrong with being older.

Or maybe I just haven't been indoctrinated into the youth obssession of the culture by dint of ignoring it. I dunno about anyone else, but I intend to have a huge party when I'm 50 -- I'm looking forward to that shit so hard I can' even describe it. Bring on the wrinkles and white hair, folks. Besides, who's to say my face isn't what 40 is SUPPOSED to look like, if you haven't run yourself into the ground with drinking and partying as a youngin. biggrin Also, Prince DID look like a fifty-something to me. A well-preserved, generally healthy fifty-something. And I also kinda wished he realized he didn't need to cover his face with makeup -- it was gorgeous enough without it (okay, not that I can recall seeing him without it, but I kinda think you can't work THAT many miracles with an ugly canvas. biggrin ).

smile))) I don"'t know you at all, and I already love you('re comment). wink

Prince indeed looks like a 50something dude, who - and is true - took very well care of himself.

I don't even think he ever had surgery... maybe I'm wrong. And non of my business even.

-

Nex month I will be 50 !

I actually don't care. I still look very good. At least, that's what peole around me tell me all the time.

I have no fat, i move a lot, i eat healthy, I don't smoke, no alcohol, and don't do drugs (anymore. Only when I was young. wink )

I'm not planning a party (yet), but every one around me is pushing me sooooo hard to do so.

Not that I don't want to, but I always only organised a party when I was 19, 29, 39, and last year. smile But, maybe I'm going to get extremely completely drunk next year when I will 51. It's been soooooo long since i was drunk. Years, decades ago. biggrin And i'm longing to get drunk again for once.
As from what i still remember, it was fun. It made me (even more) chearful and happy.

And then I will be singing Prince songs as loud as possible - a drunken tribute !

A fuck-you tribute to the JW creeps. smile

The reason why I don't drink is becuase I don't like drunk people AT ALL !

Either they turn out being assholes and cry all the time, nagging about how wrong it all went, or they get agressive, or they become loud and pushy.

-

The make-up was OK. smile))) It made him that icon too. Just like Bowie.

In the end though, Bowie realised he didn't needed it anymore, but then again, Bowie didn't have that tiny little small asshole part in his character that Prince had (to cover up). ;-P

He was so prety.

I wish I could've kiss him once, a looooong french kiss with Prince - knowing that I'm a guy ! wink

Just curious, cause in UTCM he seemes to be a 'strange' kisser... but goodlooking. smile

can someone comment on the light skin transformation over the years..is this part of the aging process?

What? He's always been light-skinned. I don't think his actual skin color changed dramatically over his life-span, crazy-ass day-glo foundation during the Spooky era notwithstanding. biggrin

The difference is as simple as being outside just long enough to get tanned during the day. Hell, right now I'm currently two colors! Mocha-brown where my clothes cover me, a shade darker where it doesn't. It's hilarious, that level of difference.

Maybe Prince got a bit paler over the years, because he actually LIVE INSIDE the studio ALL THE TIME.

Thàt might be the only reason as far as I can think.

And yes, getting older can cause (for some people) a whiter/paler skin.

But also the other way around. It depends on what type of skin you have.

Seems to me there are two different things here. Yes Prince aged, everyone does. And yes there are photographs where it's noticeable. Did he go under the knife or use Botox or other stuff? That's total speculation and I laugh that people can be so confident just based on looking at photos that he was using Botox or had his nose done.

You can't slow down the aging process purely by being deluded or uneducated.

The way P talked so much about "not believing in time" actually showed that he paid a LOT of attention to it. He was focused on it all of his life.

.

Exactly! I just caught an old MYV video of him yesterday (wish I had saved it!) where he was young and I think just began working with Larry Graham perhaps - and he said something about time - and then he caught himself and said oops. I'm still trying to get this thing about not to acknowledging time. (that's not a direct quote but very close).

It's not a matter of not acknowledging time, but realizing time itself is a tool that man created. It is a useful tool, such as, deciding to meet a friend at 3:00 to have a late lunch/early dinner. If one remains constantly present, not focused on the past and not focused on the future, but remains Present in this moment right now, time ceases to exist. One remains perfectly centered in the Everlasting Now.

The future is a mind construct. The past is a mind construct. Does that mean you have not had experiences? Of course not. You've experienced a lot in a long life time. All this means is that you look at those experiences and realize those experiences no longer exist accept as a thought in your mind. When I first began this journey, I was writing about the abuses I had endured as a child, which would trigger me and caused some difficult times for me. I discussed this with a friend who said, "Writing about your experience is good practice, can be very therapeutic, as long as you remember these are merely ghosts of the mind and they can no longer hurt you, unless you let them." That was very mind blowing to me, because I realized he was exactly right. Everything from my past now exists only in my mind and no longer holds the power to hurt me, unless I let a mind construct (a memory) to do so. The trauma and the pain were real, as I was living in those moments, but once I liberated myself from those experiences, the trauma and the actual pain no longer existed, except as a memory, a figment of my mind. I would re-member (re-create) those experiences in my mind and in re-membering (putting those experiences back together) my mind would believe it was real (rather than a product of itself) and I would hurt.

Also, regarding the aging, when we look at an overly ripe banana, we don't say, "That's an old banana" we look at it and say, "That's an overly ripe banana." We don't look at an apple and watch it go through it's ripening process and say, "It's getting older!" we say, "It's getting ripe!" We view thngs that definitely show signs of maturing in nature as just that, "maturing", but with animals and people we add an age and say, "It's getting old." In truth, just as a banana matures and ripens, just as an apple matures and ripens, we are maturing and ripening. We can say this is an aging process and put a date on it, but if one lives in the Everlasting Now, that age ceases to exist because we are here and now, and in the here and now, just this moment exists. You experience the moment, and as it fades away and a new moment is created, you release the moment that has faded and embrace the moment that is created. The human mind is the only mind that keeps count of years passing, because we look at life as linear and have bought the lie that life is divided into segments. Life happens now and cannot be divided, it is our mind that divides life into small segments.
