It would be strange if it wasn't streamed...right? Anyway if it is I've wondered if there might be interest in "viewing parties," for lack of a better term--if enough folks live in a particular region to all get together and watch? Might not work out, but it keeps popping up in my head so I finally let it out.

nod That is a great idea! For those not attending, to host fam get togethers to watch together smile

I think a good handful of us are flying solo. That's what made me think to arrange the dinner(s) and the Prince movie night smile More ways to meet up with org fam! I really wish they would let me put posts on the main thread, but I do have a post in the fan gatherings...I will probably want to take a consensus...I think the movie night will be on Wednesday (maybe a 2nd one on Friday, but sounds like other events around town). Will need to determine if people want to see:

UTCM/PR

PR/GB

GB/SOTT

UTCM/SOTT

biggrin

Was also thinking a org trip to PP would be so great. We could hold our own memorial. Maybe all wear as much purple as possible and stand in a Love Symbol formation so we can take a photo as our own tribute smile I dunno, just throwing ideas out there.

The photo is a great idea, FP biggrin GB/SOTT would be my choice. I don't feel like crying on the other ones neutral

Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

All of your ideas are good ones..I definitely think we need a FAM/org memorial service may help us ( his real fams) feel alittle better..and less slighted. I have never seen SOTT in its entirety.. And getting a copy is both expensive and nearly impossible. So getting a chance to see it..Surrounded by people who loved him as much as I do would be incredible! [Edited 8/16/16 16:03pm]

I just bought a Blu-Ray edition of SOTT for $30 on Amazon. I think it's made in Japan but plays on all regions for DVD players. It's legit. No bootleg or anything illegal. It was heaven to watch for the first time. However, I think it would be even better to see it with all of you on the big screen. Now, that would be amazing!

What I think needs to happen is Michael Moore travel the world and talk to Prince fans. Ask about the first time they saw a Prince video, or heard a Prince song, what Prince meant to them, what they remember most about Prince, intersperse those interviews with concert footage and videos of Prince. Maybe even put in some of Prince's interviews, or excerpts from those interviews, and show this in theaters with the proceeds going to a chairty Prince supported. Maybe even have each theater do a food drive for local food pantries or shelters, something Prince used to do at concerts. These tributes with the big stars that are performing songs they just can't truly perform in true Prince fashion - these aren't for the fans/fams, these are not a memorial. And we truly need some kind of memorial.

[Edited 8/3/16 6:58am]

I am definitely with you on the fundraiser aspect in his memory. I host fundraisers all year long at work. Hoping to host perhaps a 50/50 and a donation collection for a food pantry or shelter etc at the movie screenings. That way we all can feel like we are supporting one of Prince's causes.

And...we don't necessary need Michael Moore to go around and talk to fans. Beauty of technology...we could have people at PP give that answer to someone recording small clips, and ALSO can have people at home record their own, and get someone who is good at editing to put them together nicely. It can be done. biggrin

Maybe we could raise funds for #YesWeCode. He did a lot for that group and they have a fantastic mission.

I vote for UTCM/PR or UTCM/SOTT. I saw PR on the big screen a few months ago and it was AMAZING. I've seen it hundreds of times on DVD, VHS and on TV, but seeing it on the big screen was a whole new experience. I loved it, saw things I hadnt noticed before, etc. That being said, I would be fine with seeing it again or not, but I would LOVE to se UTCM on big screen. I loved that movie in any form. GB would be my least favorite choice. That's my vote.

I love all these ideas! Thanks so much for looking into all this. I love the idea of standing in a the symbol sign at PP and taking a pic. Maybe someone could take it from above? With a drone or something? Someone locally? IDK Keep the ideas coming! We have 5 people coming from Fort Wayne, IN as long as we score tickets. We plan on getting there Wednsday if possible and staying at least until Saturday night...hopefully leave Sunday morning. Hoping there are lots of events going on and cant wait to meet the purple army. prince wildsign heart

I have been a part of the Purple Family since "For You". It would be awesome to get together and meet everyone! I love each and every one of you and feel that we are all connected!! I will only be in for one night (the night of the tribute concert) but depending on whether attending the concert or not (depends on the cost, etc.) I would love the option of a dinner or whatever is decided withing the group. Heck, I love the idea of doing our own thing! Trust me, I need this....closure...or whatever we are defining it as. I just feel like I need to be there...in Minnesota... smile

My vote is for UTCM for sure, then SOTT, PR, GB in that order. But any or all of them would be fun on the big screen with the Purple Family! Am glad to see that Wed. night may be an option, as I have to leave town on Friday. Thanks so much for working on putting this together!

Never fear...Looks like the writer at SeatGeek got it wrong. That article was posted on their web site on Aug. 5 and pretty much repeats what Tyka wrote in her Facebook post. I think the writer didn't notice that Tyka's post was from July 28. Not to mention, it says the tickets go on sale this month. I think we're still looking at August ticket sales.

***Does any other 'flying solo' fam want to buddy up in attempts of buying tickets (so we are both going to attempt to buy two when the time comes, should we both get it, we could offer it to other orgers - further help out the fam) It double our chances #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork - or something like that !lol I would recommend for others to think about the same - I did this twice for SDCC/Comic Con and was able to purchase for a 'virtual stranger'. Also, it does seem like UTCM and SOTT - are getting the most nudges. To be honest, if for whatever reason we can only do ONE movie - I would pick UTCM. IT IS MEANT TO BE SEEN ON THE BIG SCREEN. Trust me on this! bow But maybe if I'm putting the idea in their head they will have more screening times of all 4 movies over the course of the weekend wink Time will tell! will keep U posted.

Those two would be my vote. UTCM is so underrated. It really showcases his fantastic sense of humor which the public only saw glimpses of but his friends knew so well. Being a concert film, SOTT is just meant to be on the big screen. I'll be a hot mess at the end of UTCM. I still can't listen to Sometimes It Snows In April. At least in this case, I'll be with others who are going to understand.

I also think they would pair nicely, not wanting to leave the fam so heavy hearted after a fun get together for a Prince screening. I think UTCM followed by SOTT would be perfect!! AND if I can swing a second day, put PR and GB together. I think I will hear back by the end of the week - super stoked about these!! smile

yes yes and yes I've emailed the org re t shirts with the p org on the back bad perhaps our user name would that be cool? I haven't heard back....I know we were not supposed to put his face but perhaps we could do a symbol on front....also does anyone do banners???? I'm just saying...we could do a banner for a pic and rep all our lovey org that can not attend.... Besides that we could pre meet at the movie and do a stud your dud which means bling and cut our shirts styling for our boy!!!! I'm gonna create a silver hand made symbol for a free raffle for our movie night....I want to do this I think it would be cool and maybe others could donate a calendar cd or something no pressure just a fun thought....if it's not cool I won't do it... But I love each and everyone of you and just hope I'm able to secure a ticket!!!! Yes the idea of buying more than one would be sweet for the ones that try but can't get through...I think they will sell out in seconds....

omg If Stevie is there I might have to auction off a body part if I have to! He's one other of the legendary artists I need to see. woot! lol My bestie will never forgive me if BOTH Bruno and Gaga are there though...lol

.

Kinda nice when it works out like that either way. Anyway I'm up for it if someone else is too lemme know.

If the price of tix is $100 or less, I'm willin' to get an extra ticket for someone who isn't able to get one before it's sold out. Ride or die yes

Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

You guys have NO idea how much of a blessing you all have been to me and others since P's transition. I really don't know what I'd do. This whole thing is so much bigger. Why'd I come back so strongly? Why is the grief so deep? Yeah, ride or die...I'm in.

Love yaw'll grouphug

Londell tweeted this yesterday. Because he replied to this tweet I'm assuming we'll be hearing something very soon. Someone posted on FB that they heard tickets would be going on sale next week. I hope so. The sooner the better.
