That's not it though. How about someone that can play an instrument, and play it well. How about someone that makes me want to go to iTunes and buy their music? Instead, it's just the same ol' shit that is already on youtube. Erykah's "Ballad of Dorothy Parker" and Ms. Weight Watchers promoter's version of "Purple Rain" are there on youtube.

That's what makes me sad. There's just so little talent anymore -- because talent isn't what matters. At all.

Screaming does not equal singing.

That was NOT in the spirit of Prince. Now Bilal and The Roots that's a different story. You have to really love anD understand what he was all about to do a proper tribute. These people have no clue as to what Prince was about for the past 25 years. Sad...

Your wife should come on the org and remind a few folks on this thread about that too.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Fantashia's been tearing up Purple Rain live in concert for years.

She should've done the tribute.

100% in agreement with you. That's why I listen to rock and alternative. There's good music out there. You just have to search for it. However, it isn't on the radio or on these dumbass awards show.

Watching this has really made me realize that Prince is definitely gone. Really sad now.😪 Also BET kinda sucks. The tributes have been ok but have landed kinda of flat. No real energy. Jennifer Hudson's Purple Rain was too damn "churchy" and she over sang it for sure.

I think Prince deserved an hour special just for him. The show mixing a tribute to great artist in with a silly, bullshit award ceremony and current Hip Hop/R&B artist just doesn't work.👎 👎 Two thumbs down.

Yea but to me these performers were way better. We all know he had major love for The Roots, Stevie, Erykah Badu & Jennifer Hudson. His relationship with Bilal and the othe young lady, idk

Prince included Tori Kelly in an article last year of his "10 favorite artists right now."

Anyone know who the two folks on the left are? I think that's Tyka's husband Maurice, Tyka, and son Pres to right. They look good, happy to see them there.

Omarr Baker and his wife. Great to see them there.

Prince needs a documentary. These shows can't honor Prince. Prince was music....rock, soul, jazz, alternative, etc. These shows are too one dimensional to represent Prince for what he truly was.

Preach it! I haven't listened to the radio in seriously almost 15 years. I stick to the classics or indie bands. 1 thing that's really gonna put all these faux musician fools to shame is when the vault stuff is released and P can STILL kick all they behinds from the great beyond.
