I mean, he's dead, but his music will live on a lot longer than any of us will. ¡The Future Is Ours, If You Can Count! https://www.youtube.com/w...A_zTY0qWWk

It really does...never thought it would be this way so soon. 57 is too young to die

True...I listened to him on my way home from work...the tears are gone, but it doesnt feel the same

In a very big way yes. Once the investigation is concluded, I think this place will die down for a long while untill we starting hearing about posthumous releases.
Yes the thrill of truly new releases, new tours, new bands etc...is gone forever.

Quite the opposite. I think with all the new Prince fans ("What? He did more than just Purple Rain??") and the possibility that the vault will be opened, we're in for a new phase of being Prince fans. Of course it won't be the same, but as long as we listen to his music, and there's the possibility that new music's coming out, (to quote an old chant) "it ain't over."

I agree ...
I guess we are wanting closure .......... I want to know " why " ?!?!?!
I guess everybody will have their own time for closure !!
Its " DAMN " hard to think that hes really gone !!!
This how prince left us and its nothing else !!
He loved us !!!

We'll never see him live again, but the Vault contains music as good as anything he released in his lifetime. Prince preserved that material for a reason. How bittersweet will it be when Dream Factory/Roadhouse Garden gets released as a studio record?

But what if his family decides not to release anything from the vault?

. Over? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no? Was it over when The Beatles split up? Hell no. . . Little history lesson time: The day Elvis Presley died his manager Colonel Tom Parker uttered one of the wildest quotes in history. Upon being told Elvis was dead, the Colonel just blinked and matter-of-factly said, “That doesn't change anything.” Incredible line. And boy was he right. The legend that was Elvis lived on (in fact, got bigger). . Beatles were gone in 1969. Guess who the biggest selling band in the 2000s was? Prince is gone, but you really think it's over?

It really does...never thought it would be this way so soon. 57 is too young to die On a selfish note, his passing has made me feel old. If Paisley Park is turned into another Graceland, it'll feel like another death. There's songs I want to hear from The Vault, but I'm wary that a lot I want to hear will never be released. It seems that there's two camps; one camp being the people whom loved him... and the other camp being Cheeto, Sheila, and Larry. The music I want released involves the former camp, not the latter. Maybe I'm wrong. It just feels that way right now.

I think we all want closure...this all just feels wrong. We continue to come here, but the main reason for us doing that is gone...it doesnt look good.

We must not disappear from the org and stay and keep his spirit alive. There is still so much to talk about the great man. Even though its hard when we all feel empty.

U aint right | |

I've never felt the same when other artists i loved passed. Posthumous releases are interesting and something to look forward too, but the feeling for the music is just not the same. They get listened to, but the passion for that music wanes. It's either the quality or the fact they left it on the shelf themselves.
.
I dunno, hard to explain.

Will U still want to hear it then knowing the reason is because he is gone?

Sorry...but I do. Elvis and Beatles fans are a little loose on reality Hell their still seeing Elvis at the gas station Prince fans have always been able to deal with real stuff It's OVA!

You speak the truth, though no one wants to mention it. It will never be the same... You will have to make his music meaningful and alive for your own life...but the ride, as we knew it, is over. I will always listen to his music though... I listened to P's old music up until TGE (the last album I bought) for 15 years before I joined the org and really knew nothing about his life after 1995 or new music. Yeah, that's out of touch with the music world I was. So, the music has always been there for me...and always will be. More recent music, though? New music? I don't know yet. But, this online community will never be the same. And can't. We all have to turn it into something else...that still brings meaning to our individual lives and helps us celebrate his music as a living, meaningful, continuing presence in our lives. Just my thoughts. At the moment. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

ELVIS PRESLEY was another surprising (in his early 40's) and tragic loss, way too young and in such a sad way, but no its not over..Princes legacy lives on.
If only Prince had a Priscilla in his life to run Paisley Park and make it into something amazing and glorious for his fans. Elvis wanted everything for his child so her mother took charge and man did she make something outta so little. For their daughter Lisa Marie to someday when she got old enough to inherit..i heard he wanted PP to be a museum someday..he was a fan of Elvis and his Graceland Mansion.

i am still bouncing between the different phases of grief, mostly between deep sadness and anger. i am starting to come to grips that he really is dead, that his body was cremated after basically being cut apart (a thought which deeply distresses me), and that his spirit has moved on (although i hope people will start reporting psychic experiences of him). the rainbow over pp on the 21st was important to me, a clear sign imo. as to his music, i STILL can't listen. i have been watching him in interviews and i am kind of ok with that, but hearing him sing, nope. not yet. much of my distress is because we don't know what happened, because people are fighting over his assets, because we don't know if we might (or might not) hear new posthumous releases, but mostly because we don't know the circumstances or cause of death and whether anyone is culpable. and the alone in the elevator thing makes me ill. since we know he died there, alone, the best we can hope for is to find out he was busy recording and happy and just happened to go in the elevator and suddenly dropped, passing quickly and without pain. my fear is that the last few months of his life, and perhaps the last moments, were filled with more suffering than anyone knows. but i am hoping that, short of collapsing in his studio with guitar still in hand, maybe it was an easy passing. he never got a break in life with relationships or children, and I think he was quite lonely the past several years. the least the frickin universe could do is cut him a break and let him go easy. i expect the grieving to get worse around june 7 and when the autopsy report comes out. "If u love somebody, your life won't be in vain
And there's always a rainbow, at the end of every rain."--peace and love, dear prince.....

I try, but I dont wanna hurt people's feelings The feeling of being here and expecting new stuff is gone... On my way home listening to his music I felt kinda weird like the meaning behind it all is gone...I know its not true, but this is how Im feeling right now. I dont know how to give it all meaning.
