Let's talk media culpability timeline.

On 18th Blind Gossip reports a beloved celebrity matching Prince was going to pass soon.

On 20th Prince is photo'd at Walgreens getting Rx. Somebody knew he'd be there doing just that.

On 21st he passed.

After, TMZ releases the Walgreens photo w/story of opiods. Blind Gossip confirms their tip and original report was about Prince

My point - word was on the street since 18th how bad things were and media just observed and waited to report.

Culpable = Morally, ethically questionable.

I respectfully disagree. Maybe those close thought it was an addiction problem but given his private nature were not totally sure what was happening and assumed the worst. There are still too many unknowns to draw any form of a conclusion.

Why the snarky tone?

1. Not sure about CVS up in MN, but CVS in my area is very understaffed and not organized at all. Not that it really matters. The MD said he wrote two scripts. He kept going to the same Walgreens, no? Most RXs at Walgreens can be ready in 15 minutes. So, I take these trips to the store as being petty. Walgreens was not a supplier.

2. I am well aware of the lawsuit. That occured in FL. Because of it, Walgreens is very strict with narcotics. Because of the suit you have mentioned, hydromorphone, methadone and oxycodone (not Percocet, though) RXs must be verified and the patient ran through a system to verify they are not filing at other pharmacies. Most states keep a log of what controlled substances a person has picked up at any pharmacy via name and DOB. Not sure but I figure MN has such a system. As far as we know, Prince was not using an alias.

3. True.

4. The addiction issue falls into not understanding where it has supposedly came from, until he died. I personally do not think he was an addict or drug abuser.

As for the pharmacist not being in, I figure they are just saying that. I guess you could go over there, look for the name of the pharmacy manager on the wall then see who is back there. They could be on vacation. Either way, they cannot say anything to anyone other than authorities.

4.I think we can ascertain from numerous sources that he was being treated for withdrawal symptoms from his opioid addiction. This was before the intervention call and before the April 15th flight home. It is clear he was an addict. I Remember, Kornfeld(addiction specialist) got the call the evening of April 20th. I am assuming that this is the reason for the call . Addiction. Prince was clearly in dire straits. It is possible that he may not have been using an alias.

I cannot think of any other reason why the son of a prominent renowned addiction specialist would show up @ Paisley Park the very next day after getting a call the evening before. How long he was being treated for his addiction is still unclear. According to published reports, he was introduced to this Twin City doctor by a staff member. The staff members also made the call to the addiction specialist as well.

Without running the risk of a reductio ad absurdum, I respect that you may not think he was an addict. Some things just goes against the evidence of our senses.

I concur with the previous 3 statements.

Money.

That MD should have referred the case or had Prince fly to Cali, with the former being the right choice. He also treats chronic pain management which may be that was the issue. Big problem though is this MD having his son fly with medications
in a bag to see someone he's apparently never laid eyes on or met. You cannot (or should not) prescribe medications to someone you don't have medical records on, ever. The doctor and his son have done so many wrongs here in this picture. If Prince was having a medical emergency then someone should have called 911. If someone did not see this as a medical emergency then still, the doctor should not have sent his son who is not a doctor to go assess, treat and prescribe medications.

Perhaps it was pain management and not addiction or withdrawals. I wonder why he brought along the buprenorphine without assessing any pain Prince may have been suffering from? According to statute 604A.01 (Good Samaritan law in Minnesota), he may be immune from liability. Check section Subd.2 It's murky.

I saw that piece from Blind Gossip. It also said he had AIDS after contracting the HIV virus sometime in the 90s. And that he stopped taking his meds a couple years ago because he thought his religious beliefs had cured him. That he got full blown AIDs about 6 months ago and that taking meds again didnt work and it was too late and he wasnt expected to live thru the summer. This article said nothing about opioid or a drug overdose. Everything they said to describe the person strongly suggested Prince..I find it difficult to believe he had HIV/AIDS since the 90s with 2 marriages and a couple(or more) pregnancies...

I also read that this doctor he was seeng specialized in Obstetrics...wth?

HIV? Probably not a likely scenario. It is becoming more evident that pain , and a possible addiction to opioids were the catalyst. Two (2) more close members have stated the following: According to published reports, Sky Dangcil,a music collaborator ,(apparently he played violin for Prince from 2000-2007) stated that Prince" took the pills to keep the show going". Another person close to Prince, longtime hairstylist Kim Berry, speculates that his addiction to opioids likely stemmed from his round the clock commitments.

HIV doesn't matter to me. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that BG/TMZ watched him implode. Replay and reconsider their reporting from the emergency landing til after he died.

Shortly after the emergency plane landing, BG reported a tip that Prince would soon die. Forget the reason. After he DID die they confiarmed it was Prince they were reporting on. So at minimum they knew he was dying. Next, somebody knew enough to be following him and taking photos at Walgreens the night before he died. The photographer with the tip had to know he was in dire shape. That photo showed up on TMZ after he died, hard not to imagine they don't know the photographer. These media tabloids are a community unto themselves. If Prince was on a path to accidental OD-ing (at best) or truly dying (at worse), it seems BG/TMZ knew they had front row seats watching him implode and only saw fit to let it happen to benefit from it.

Not a conspiracy or coincidence. Play back the timeline and consider who admitted they knew something and who just happened to "get lucky."

Forget the DEA investigating drugs, the media should be investigated to know how they are connected and who knew what/when. Isn't it a crime to watch somebody die and not do anything?

Makes me sick.

Omg! Look at the time on the comments section of BG: http://blindgossip.com/?p=77843

Someone knew at 9:37am on the 21st that Prince had died. I'm not sure what time zone BG is but that's spooky. And yes, it's disgusting how they watched him die. At least let a man die in peace.

But also people don't die of AIDS -they die of complications due to AIDS (a weakened auto-immune disorder -so it's very hard to recover from illnesses such as the flu.

And the I believe the CA doc was first a pain management specialist who was certified in addiction treatment. If Prince did have AIDS this may be the reason he chose an out-of-state doctor.

Btw, did he always cover up his neck/use turtlenecks in the last year or so?
