Is this the lowest point of Princes popularity or have there been worse? It seems like even after the UTCM and Graffiti bridge debacles or the odd Award show appearances it seems P was still in an upper echalant of stars. While he is more of a legend now than then it seems no one cares about new albums no one is discussing his tours and the stuff that is left alone in YouTube barely get any views. Is this the chickens coming home to roost because of his ill thought out war with the net or has his lack of big splashes of late finally made him a non issue.I think it's the former. His lack of net exposure has killed off a whole generation. Dumb move my man.

The man is 57 years old I mean at this point I dont think he gives a shit. His legacy is set even if he never sells another song.

If you think P will ever stop caring or giving a huge shit you're way off. His self love has fuelled him since he was 20. If he didn't care he wouldn't release three albums in 2 years or do anything but tour and have exclusive parties in Los Angeles. P will care till the day he becomes too senile to.

no one is discussing his tous: really..your statement laughable ..go back and look at his enterance to golden state game and the associated news with it. you cant be unpopular and move 27 some odd thousand at a high price point within minutes ...and by the his concerts are atteneded by multi generations ...young and old

and frankly, your debate is not sensible....

what you judge as popular is probably not he correct formula..there has been a paridigm shift in the business model..he gonna release whatever he wants, whenever...he tours whenever the moment hits..only a free person can release an EDM influenced record, follow up with a big band record then do a solo piano tour,,,the reviews are the best he has probably ever recieved ,...not sure where you getting no one is talknig about his tours as its an inaccurate statement and your credibilty goes down the toilet when you state that ..a sports talk radio show gave him a glowing review last; sports talk radio...

Defiine popular. Prince doesn't need to be popular. Beethoven is long gone and not popular but I still get off on Moonlight Sonata every now and then as I'm sure others do. It's about art, not being popular.
- You need to follow Prince on twitter where his team and I presume sometimes he, posts links to independent journalists and articles which say a lot more about Prince's stance than what you read in mainstream media. e.g. this mornings breakfast in bed read. -

Where is the flipping 'insert link' button here? -
Nice article though. Prince supports equality and in artists being paid, not the middle man sucking them dry. Tidal is the new deal and I'm happy with it though I can't live without youtube as well. - Don't worry about some of the reactions. All types on here to match all of Prince's genres and some of the chirps are really quite funny and clever!

You guys really live in a bubble. Getting props at a bb game with an aged audience is not that impressive. 25 years after the Beatles revolution teens still went through their Beatle phase like it was a coming of age. Laughable argument my foot. You check some of these view counts on YouTube for the stuff he can't take off and it's embarrassing.Trees falling in an irrelevant forest don't make a sound. While Ps legacy may be sound his revolutionary deeds are slowly being totally forgotten by a new generation save a few diehard musicians that love him. The new generation is the generation of the Internet. Just like the 90s were the PC the 80s MTV and the Seventies TV. His obsession with monetizing every song has made him a non factor. He needs to let his YouTube flag fly free. That's my may drag as he would say.

- - How many artists died never being 'popular'? Youtube is for the masses. My point is music , like art never dies. Those young masses in future generations when we, the 'aged audience', (thank-you) are gone, will be enjoying Prince's music. I am certain of that. When their ears can distinguish between hype and quality. - The current younger generation are exposed to an overload of information and music. Everything at the touch of a button. This is not the 25 years after the Beatles age. It's the 21st millenium when you can 'have' anything. But this youthful generation too will age, mature and seek something else in time for their soul food fix. Something that is not readily available after their ears have become over saturated with what they grew up with. The youth generally 'do' more than 'think'. Youtube is easy and they don't need to think when they are bombarded by mainstream radio, they are conditioned into what they get and hear. That's something that turned me off Prince music and pop in the early nineties when I was a spring chicken in my 20's. Vieiws or no views, what matters is quality over quantity. my daughter, who is 16 and i have no influence nor do i want infliuence over her in regards to artistic manners did two things over the last year that shows Prince's influence.. One, after the grammys ;ast year , her and some a few of her friends had as their phone screen savers, Prince's side eye gif, when he is wearing the orange outfit.. Two, she apparent;y recen;ty watched teh New Girl Eopisode with Prince,, liked it so much , she signed up fpr Tidal and her fav song at the moment is Valentina from MPLS.. So, yes, they will be enjoying hosa music, and I'll submit to you that we as adults can be very myopic in our views and not see the truth.,.My daughter and her freinds have very mature, eclectic musical taates...She was into AMy winehouse and the beattlles at age 9..Point is, that the music will survive,,,should or shouldnt he make his music more accessile; thats for him to answer,. eventually it wil get heard [Edited 3/13/16 3:33am]

here is the thing,, what you need is singular and no one cares about,,,YOu are making statements of fact off of what you need,,,You will nevrer get it and therefore your opinion will never, ever have any credibilty as your basis for success is YOU having a prisintine remasterd 12 on of Erotic City or whatever other song form 80's you are looking for..

I'll submit to you that the dichotomy of the reviews and fan reaction will show you who is actually winning..i'm sure some will point out that her tour is the highest grossing et etc etc ....this is what you want from him// the ability to buy txts for shows months in advance,, a proper tour,, not even sure what that means

There seems to be a failure to accept Prince is a 57 year old act. At this point it's all about longevity. Compare Prince to popular acts of his Era. George Michael. Culture Club. Michael Jackson. Madonna. Bruce Springsteen. Who's the one who has kept himself the healthiest, not self-destructed is some way, still pushes themself musically and continues to produce the most? We might not like all his moves, and can debate quality of output. Whatever. At least he isn't relegated to casino tours and only bargin-bin compilations to buy. It's about longevity and the legacy of an expansive catalog/discography being left.

Nah, not really. The vinyl we have is already pretty good, and I don´t care about a few postcards. A remastered CD, a nice booklet, AND some postcards plus a bonus DVD with the concert movie and some extra footage would be much nicer than just a remastered vinyl release with a few pictures. But I guess your suggestion would sell better. Vinyl is having a huge comeback, whereas CDs are becoming historty. I still prefer CDs though. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
