. OK, finally listened to it....... .... To be honest it's the first time that I listen to a new Prince album and nothing remains in my mind. Nothing. ... It doesn't sounds like an album, but like a mixtape of demoes, sketches of songs and poor remixes. .... Tomorrow I will give it another chance, but only because I simply have to sadly accept that this is an "album" from the same man that gave me "Lovesexy". ....

D'angelo's album isn't groundbreaking or innovative. He doesn't take chances with new sounds & directions like does. That is the BIG difference between the two. The album is VERY groove heavy with mumbled vocals that are not understood. But he does shine more live. Although with heavily borrowed, closely studied moves. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

dang, why everbody has to compare D'Angelo with Prince all the time? it's called prince.org ! And what do you have against him, KCool? Personally, I haven't really heard any of his music; but I bet any of his music is better than this HitNRun-nonsense [Edited 9/7/15 16:56pm] ”The people that will end up defining ‘Hate Speech Laws’ are the very people you don’t want to define the Hate Speech Laws” — Jordan B Peterson

Josh can't be blamed for these lyrics, tho.
(Except for maybe not talking him out of using them, that is.)

Perhaps, but let's not pretend that Prince's new music is so "innovative",either. There's nothing groundbreaking on Prince's new album. He's just simply allowing a "young" producer to throw in some 'modern' sounds and gimmicks on top of Prince's own sound.

D'angelo is actually my 2nd favorite artist. He blew me away live a few months ago. Eye have NOTHING against him at all. His innerview with Tavis Smiley was cool also... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! I think D is extremely gifted. But he doesn't take musical chances like . It takes a lot of guts to do what does as an artist. is not afraid to change his ever evolving sound.
D said he spoke to on the phone. He told him "to STOP thinking & just DO IT"! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

All albums that have clear Prince influences, but make Prince's new material look like a cruel joke. personally I think D'Angelos recent record is very overrated... I listen to samples and didn't end up buying it because it didn't move me at all You can't judge an album based on samples. Come on. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I listened to the first 2 tracks twice & honestly don't think I'll listen to them again. Same ol' 'We make so much money & party with famous people' bullshit he's been saying for years.
Which is the recurring theme with this album it seems.
I did like 'Ain't About To Stop' even tho it's more bragging. The lyrics are less clumsy & forced & slightly less cringworthy.
I like 'Like A Mack' but I think it's telling that Josh's production works better with Curly Fries than with Prince. Honestly I kept thinking Prince's voice sounds really out of place on some of these tracks. It's too out front or something, but it just doesn't work for me on a lot of tracks.
'This Could Be Us' should've been left alone.
'FallInLove2Nite' sounds just as corny, out of date & by the numbers as it did before. Nothing new here. 'The moon threatened to dance her out of her shoes' is, for me, one of the worst lines in the history of terrible Prince lines.
I like 'The Xs Face.' It still seems incomplete here, tho.
'HardRockLover' is the best track here, to me anyway. Still bragging, tho & the Babyface & Sade reference is annoying. (What is it? 1998 or some shit?)
'Mr. Nelson' Ugh. Josh playing with all his software. No need for this.
'1000 X's & O's' well, somehow a not-that-great song ends up sounding like an even less great demo version of said song. It definitely would have benefitted from a fuller production.
'June', okay. I like a lot of it, but really some of these lyrics are pretty bad, too. The part about being born too late & should've been born on the Woodstock stage..Uh...he was actually born almost 10 years before Woodstock, so that doesn't make any sense as far as being born too late. I like the sound of it, tho & some of the lyrics seem heartfelt.
Overall it seems Prince has nothing to say. Like he's just talking shit about being the baddest, but not showing anything that backs that up.
Prince needs a lyrical collaborator it seems. This may be why the songs with Andy Allo & Judith Hill are better songs than the songs here. I mean look at what he did with 'AnotherLove.' He definitely benefitted from having something already written.
I can't imagine that this is going to win any new fans for Prince. He definitely can't blame it on lack of promotion this time, tho.

Does anybody else think "Fallinlovetonight" sounds like "Single" by Ne-Yo and NKOTB? That's all I hear when I listen to it.
Here's the video for it-

Interesting. I'm not sure. But if any straight man is ever caught listening to it, he can guarantee to remain single for the rest of his life.

I'm pretty sure everything except for a few guitar parts is MIDI controller. No blowing occurs on this album. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.
