I must say, whent I heard the snippet a couple of months ago I was not impressed, but after hearing the whole song I am hooked. Most killer base guitar in many a year. So now we have a POSSIBLE four song tracklist for HitNRun?
1) Hardrocklover
2) Stare
3) X's Face
4) 1000 Hugs and Kisses
For me that's a big 4 for 4. I am digging the sound of these songs much more than AOA, even though I do enjoy that album. These songs to me have more of an edge and less cheese. As long as he doesn't put Baltimore on there, I think we may have a heck of an album getting ready to drop.
We also know that a new version of "This Could Be Us" is on the album.
I hope not. A little sappy for my taste. |

Why does Prince have to lack so much direction?
If he'd just let a good marketer do their job, do a video for his best latest song and actually give us a release date.
But no, he wants to play a game.. It might be fun for him but it frustrates us fans (not speaking for everyone). [Edited 7/30/15 10:15am]

I can do it easily: Militant basically ordered everyone to adore AOA or else you weren't a good fan. Hell, EVERY TIME there's a bit of criticism the famz attack anyone who dares to publsih such vile words about their hero. Hell, this very thread wasn't a page old and already somebody was preliminarily attacking me.
.
Here's an idea: STICK TO THE TOPIC instead of making baseless personal attacks.
That's not what I said. I said people should be excited about the album because it had been so long since he'd released one.
To use your favorite phrase : STOP MAKING SHIT UP.
Oh, and to that other guy who thought it was OK to drop my name in this thread without provocation? I suggest you not do that again, to me or anyone else.
Now let's get this thread back on topic.
I haven't even heard this song yet, because I'm not home. Looking forward to it though.

Really like the track and love the space given to the extended end. Good to hear a Prince track you can listen in tour car or in front of people with a sense of shame.
If I had a few quibbles, and these are minor, is
1- not given the track the space to breathe given to the extended end.
2- the horns flourishes mixed into the first parts sound out of place and haphazardly thrown in. Though the horns sound awesome towards the end.
3- to me the Kiss sample is cool but sounds like it comes a couple of seconds too late.
Overall, I really like the track as well as hardrocklover. [Edited 7/30/15 10:49am]

It's sad if to many singles gets released before the album, part of the enjoyment was gone when AOA was released cuz I already heard half of the album. I hope hope this is the last single before the album [Edited 7/30/15 11:05am]

I like it, very funky. Clean funk though which is ok
A lot of people expect him to produce that dirty funk he done back in the day but he is older now and I dont think that is going to happen.
I like the Kiss sample and the fade out and back in part. THats different |

it would be cool if we could work with a colour theme in these threads,
black is for people discussing the songs, and red or green or grey for
the snide comments, the shade, the back handed compliments and the
full on personal attacks. that would make threads a lot more easy to
navigate

If Prince fans are already calling this song a "Classic", then Prince seriously has the easiest fans in the world to please. Literally, all he has to do is slap his bass and throw in a few formulaic funk guitar chords, and it's drool city.
The song is decent. Not great. Just a-ight. |

Hey just be happy he finally made a post without making yet another dig on AOA! Congrats on that! Thanks for reminding me. Artificial Cage, Clouds, and Breakfast Can Wait have got to be the crappiest tracks Prince has ever released. And all three in one album. Holy Crap. |

I like it, but I havve to issues.
1. As with HARDROCKLOVER, the end os rather unsatisfying. I hope the album version is longer. 2. As with The Breakdown, this is mastered horrensously. Maybe it'll be a similar case where the quality will be improved on the album.
Either way, I think I'm going to like this one. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain. |

A. You can prove it? Great, post the links where Militant basically ordered everyone to adore AOA or else they aren't a good fan
B. You want to stop all this Bart bashing? It's easy! Just post 5 songs that Prince has released in the last 5 years that you think are great. Or however many you're comfortable with.
Bart, the thing is this - you've been posting negative stuff about Prince for what seems like two decades. And yet you're still here. And still following Prince. Which makes absolutely no sense at all.
So either you're completely obsessed with bringing down Prince, or (hopefully) there ARE some good tracks he's released this decade. Tracks that are good enough to keep you interested but for some reason you refuse to acknowledge.
So acknowledge (relatively) recent stuff you think is great. Do it here and now. I guarantee you it will put an end to nearly all the negative stuff people post about you. Maybe even all of it.
