This sounds interesting.

I'm not fully sure of whats been going on though, did some people want to organise a protest against the killing of a black man by a police officer and the mayor was like "yea do it" and then it got out of control?

I don't pay a lot of attention to the news lol.

All I saw was some dude dressed as MJ dancing to beat it on twitter and I thought that was cool.

There are protests going on in Baltimore over Freddie Gray's death in the hands of police. Protests also have been taking place in NYC, Minneapolis, DC, Philadelphia and Cincinnati, Ohio so far. A larger protest will be held this weekend in Baltimore. About 10,000 expected as some reports stated earlier this week.

Aah fair enough. I saw some report saying they'd been letting animals out from the nearby Zoo but I don't know if that was true or not. Sounds crazy.

No you are wrong. Neil Young wrote the song Ohio in reaction to the
Kent State killings as soon as it hit the news. Prince is not
the first musician to react to national events. You are blinded
by your obsessive love for Prince and your ignorance of history.
That said I think its good to see musicians dealing with real
issues and not just love songs about pancakes.
Kudos to Prince.

And one more note to KCOOLMUZIQ - you meant to
say unprecedented not unprecedent.
Just trying to help.

No, I mean someone posted a picture of a lion on the street. Like an actual lion. I don't know if it was real or not.

Edit: It was a fake. This was the pic:

It was just something I saw on my TL and didn't pay much attention to.

I hope he leaves religion out of it and examines it from the perspective of a racialized minority living in an oppressive racist regime.

I do not want to see childish lyrics like this:

When his children walk away

What do they make of 2day?

And 2 share the sunshine

Y'all need to kneel in time

I hope it's a bit more thoughtful than Resolution too.

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I don't expect Prince to be write a song with biting commentary like Curtis Mayfield or Gil Scott Heron but I hope this song is written from the perspective of a Black man first and foremost. Sometimes, Prince's reverence for God, which I commend, has sometimes inspired him to write trite and naive lyrics about social issues that are overly simplistic. The guy that wrote "Colonized Mind" is a powerful lament about personal actions that have consequences for the world at large hopefully will be at the helm for his ode to Baltimore in the wake of Freddie Gray protests.

Prince Records Tribute to the People of Baltimore, Shares Artwork

By Lars Brandle | May 01, 2015 5:50 AM EDT

Prince

Prince performs during the 'HitnRun' tour at The Fox Theatre on April 9, 2015 in Detroit, Michigan.

Prince will share his feelings on the unrest in Baltimore in the way he knows best -- in song.

The legendary artist has recorded a “tribute to all of the people of the city of Baltimore,” a spokesperson tells Billboard. Though release plans haven’t been announced, it's understood the track will address Freddie Gray's death in Baltimore police custody, and the socio/political issues around the nation following a spate of killings of young black men.

The song was recorded this week at Paisley Park and Billboard has a copy of the artwork to share (see below).

Prince is the latest in a long line of artists who’ve taken a stand over the murder of African-Americans. The likes of Joey Bada$$, Future Islands, Beyonce and The Game have led tributes and called for action following the deaths of Gray and others before him.
