Well Prince ROCKED THE HOUSE. I was there and he was just beyond. He even did a bit of some of the songs I never though he'd do anymore (Darling Nikki, Do Me Baby). An awesome show.

'Baltimore' by Prince 2015

_

Nobody got in nobody’s way
So I guess you could say
It was a good day
At least a little better than the day in Baltimore
Does anybody hear us pray?'
For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray
Peace is more than the absence of war
Absence of war

Are we gonna see another bloody day?
We’re tired of cryin’ and people dyin’
Let’s take all the guns away
Absence of war—you and me
Maybe we can finally say
Enough is enough, it’s time for love
It’s time to hear
It’s time to hear
The guitar play!

Hear Prince's Freddie Gray Protest Song 'Baltimore'

Prince

"Does anybody hear us pray? / For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray / Peace is more than the absence of war," Prince sings on moving, surprisingly upbeat new track

By Daniel Kreps May 9, 2015

excerpt:

_

The protest song was recorded April 30th at Paisley Park Studios with Prince playing all the instruments. The surprisingly upbeat music on "Baltimore" is paired with contemplative lyrics that find Prince singing, "Nobody got in nobody's way / So I guess you could say it was a good day / At least a little better than the day in Baltimore." The Purple Rain star is even more pointed in his second verse as he sings, "Does anybody hear us pray? / For Michael Brown or Freddie Gray / Peace is more than the absence of war."

The song's infectious melody is also juxtaposed with protest-inspired chants of "If there ain't no justice then there ain't no peace!" "Baltimore" closes out with Prince delivering a mournful yet ascending guitar solo backed by singer Eryn Allen Kane, who "graciously flew in on a moment's notice and graced the track with her angelic presence," according to the song's SoundCloud description.

Speaking to My Fox Twin Cities after a Paisley Park jam session ended with the recording of "Baltimore," Prince revealed that the Freddie Gray situation compacted with rumors regarding Joni Mitchell's health – the singer-songwriter had a huge influence on Prince – weighed heavily on the rocker as he wrote the track. "With everything going on there this week, I had a lot I needed to get out," Prince said.

if Nina Simone were here in the space and time to hear prince at this concert, she would have embraced him in a prideful manner.

remember the song 'Baltimore' by nina simone

1978 year of release

_

Beat-up little seagull
On a marble stair
Tryin' to find the ocean
Lookin' everywhere

Hard times in the city
In a hard town by the sea
Ain't nowhere to run to
There ain't nothin' here for free

Hooker on the corner
Waitin' for a train
Drunk lyin' on the sidewalk
Sleepin' in the rain

And they hide their faces
And they hide their eyes
'cause the city's dyin'
And they don't know why

Oh, baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live
Oh, baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live, just to live

Get my sister sandy
And my little brother ray
Buy a big old wagon
Gonna haul us all away

Livin' in the country
Where the mountain's high
Never comin' back here
'til the day I die

Oh, baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live
Oh, baltimore
Man, it's hard just to live, just to live

you go Mr. Prince Nelson Rogers

thumbs up!

You're welcome, guys! I'm still psyched by it all. At various points during the show, he'd disappear backstage for 5 to 10 minutes, and when the audience would start chanting for him, he'd cut across the noise by simply saying "NO CURFEW." from backstage, of course alluding to the curfew that was set here a couple of weeks ago. lol It was pretty touching when he said (to the young people in the audience) that the next time he comes to Baltimore, he wants to "stay in a hotel owned by YOU", and take a car service "owned and run by YOU." These kids need that kind of encouragement.

Any news on a release date for the song?

According to the article I read at Time.com it will debut on Sunday at the Mother's day concert.

So, where can I buy this new released song?

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
