Well, let me repeat one of my sentiments from the other thread about the live stream. It got left out of the Collected Works of King Sausage: Vol. 1 that one of my other fans compiled above, which was unfortunate but perhaps not accidental nor unexpected. I think Josh came off as very nice, friendly, and cool. If AOA (which I love) is any indication of the benefits he can bring to Prince's work, I greatly look forward to their future collaborations.

Josh should've been the host. lol

Depends on how U look @ it! Eye'm sure prince knew, that she wasn't well versed on muziq history @ her age. I will only say. Maybe she shouldn't have named any names on that mural? Just to be safe. She is the one that should feel bad not us! This was her first time in attendance obviously! So the excitement and the rush of her going, from room to room didn't help.

I thought her giddiness, sense of humor, and excitement fit the overall event. But I do see where U coming from. It was a cringe moment. Now that I think about it. It was VERY disrespectful. Especially when she just walked right past the PURPLE RAIN MOTORCYCLE!!! disbelief

I feel the whole thing was last minute & not really planned. So considering the circumstances. She worked with whwat was given to her. Poor thing biggrin

Obviously not. She stated that she took the picture for the AOA cover in front of the Purple Rain platinum albums and worked on it in the production office. I'm pretty sure she wasn't trying to disrespect him, she just doesn't know the history like we do...and that's not the real Purple Rain motorcylce.

I remember she said that! Obviously she didn't see the whole place. Where is the original motorcycle?

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Honestly, I would have liked that. Someone actually closely involved in making AOA talking to the audience about it. That would have been great.

People slag on Josh a lot on the Org, but I like him. I think it's a potentially rare case of Prince taking on a new talent who actually has talent.

I was openly cringing at the commentary Maya gave, especially those quotes that made it into that youtube video, but I did enjoy the Album Party.

However, as a list of pros and cons.

Pros-

  • Seeing the interior of Paisley Park properly for the first time (I'm from Australia and 18)

  • The interviews with Josh and Trevor we're properly interesting

  • I enjoyed the 2 music videos and the 3-4 unreleased tracks as well

  • NPGQ was good, I like jazz and would definitely buy an album they release; especially that first song (Does anyone have a name?)

  • The Interviews with 3EG were good, they could've been better, but I liked seeing their personalities and how they came up with their clothing

  • Liv Warfield interviews was interesting, if hurrid

  • Hearing What's My Name live as well as Thankful 'n' Thoughtful

Cons-

  • Maya was cringeworthy throughout the whole thing (love sex?!), I nearly died when she called Hannah "Josh's Wife", and the 5 minutes of interacting with the audience was really awkward; cutting to the stage and seeing this lone figure in the background dramatically lipsyncing lol

  • It wasn't really a tour as such, and if she knew it was going to be a tour why didn't she know anything

  • Prince and 3EG's opening track for the performance was dull, I felt like Prince represented this in his attire and quick close, he saw the audience and dressed accordingly

There was more to like than not, I think if it weren't for Maya the stream would've been much more enjoyable. I also can't tell if it was planned or not. They have direct footage of the music videos and were counting down when to restart the stream, on the other hand they didn't have anything to go with when Prince and 3EG didn't immediately take the stage, resorting to awkwardly dancing with people who didn't want to be on camera.

All in all I think it was worth it, it just needed some cutting in spots.

I like him too. i like the direction he seems to be pushing Prince in. After listening to that snippet of Ex's face (was that what it was called?), Prince is definately allowing Josh to bring something to the table that is more than just participation. Is Prince going underground electro dub? (whatever the fuck that is) biggrin I like it and want to hear more...

Did anyone else notice that after the Josh's wife moment she also appears to not know Ida's name? She spoke to Hannah, then said hello Donna and turned towards Ida and said, "hi beautiful". It really seemed to me that she had no idea what her name was.

She also had no idea what to do with that phone after Josh put it on speaker phone. She kept picking up the hand piece and being very awkward with it.

Why does he have to shut up already, he has a right to post his opinions just like anyone else here, including you! If you don't like his posts then don't read or reply to them. It's rude of you to tell someone to shut up. Would you like if they said that to you? Also, as for you XxAxX, what's with you counting all of KingSausage's posts and listing them? Why are you keeping track of how much this person posts? There's no need for you to do that, and needless to say, that it's none of your business how much he posts anyhow.

it is indeed a mess. Instead of celebrating the new albums people are focusing on what they consider to be negative posts. I don't understand the need to defend Prince and I am sure he has his own share of criticizing people.

I literally just saw it advertised on Yahoo's site as "Prince LIVE CONCERT." Right on my iPad, computer, and Apple TV.

Not sure where:

The event page - https://screen.yahoo.com/...ent/prince says:

Live Nation

Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL: PLECTRUMELECTRUMARTOFFICIALAGE Album Release Party

I don't think there was ever any mention of a live concert. Certainly not from Prince/Paisley Park. They "promised" 2 unreleased songs and ended up playing 4 or 5 unreleased tracks.

Agreed on the not planned and poorly prepared. One might feel Mya is being unfairly picked on. The criticism I've seen has been professional in nature. And she's NOT a a poor thing that was thrown to the wolves by Prince. She clearly accepted an offer to host. That was her choice, I can't imagine anybody held a gun shaped microphone to her head. Being prepared with a story of interest or knowledge of her subject matter is part of that hosting gig. Another person might have received the offer and recognized they were lacking preparation, or the event itself might impact their own chance of success and then choose to decline the opportunity. Let's be fair. Prince has a long history of offering others opportunity but he's not obligated to guarantee their success.

I should have taken a screen shot. I promise that on the night of the live stream, on all three sources I cited above it said "live concert." Plus, when your live stream opens with 10 minutes of a camera slowly panning across a stage set up for a concert, you're sending a strong signal that there's a concert happening at some point.

Yes. A very short concert. People are saying it was never advertised as a concert. That's just not true. There was ambiguity, but there were clear signs that a concert was going to happen. On Yahoo, through friends in MN who received notice of the event, by the instruments set up on stage, and so on. It was more than simply an album release party. And I maintain that it was still a failure -- perhaps even more of a failure -- if the intent was 100% to showcase the release of the new albums. There was very little showcasing of the albums.

I agree completely that having the camera pan around the stage created the impression there was going to be a live show, but everything I've seen has always billed it as an album launch party. I don't believe there was any ambiguity in the billing itself. Certainly the twitter accounts etc never mentioned a performance. If Yahoo made a fuckup on their end fair play. But ALL the official Paisley sources said it was a "party". - More than likely deliberately so Prince could decide if he was "feeling it" at the time.

I don't even disagree that in terms of the event it was a bit of a shambles logistically - Maya obviously had no clue where she was supposed to go and what she was supposed to say to people - the plus side of that (to me) being that she would say and ask things other people wouldn't - as I said earlier:

the bit in the studio when they played the Rita Ora track - Prince was quick to say "yeh that was the 3 of us worked on" - Maya shook her head (as if to say nah I don't believe this is Prince and asked Josh "is that you" - to which he replied "yeh thats me". - I think thats an interesting insight, and confirmation that not only is Josh heavily involved in Prince's music, He's also not going to let Prince take credit for his work.

It isnt about negative comments not being allowed, that is such an easy cop out. Its about the repetitive bitching. Your need for attention and to be validated for your opinion is evident in your continued repeating of yourself and saying the same thing. You stated how much you thought it sucked, why cant you move along? Other people do not have to agree with YOU either, and yu coming back here to repeat the same thing differently isnt going to make others agree with you any more, its just going to come across as you being an obnoxious troll who cant stop bitching about the same thing. Because I'm, you know, the only person who criticized the event or posted more than one comment on this thread. You'll notice that my comments (this one being an exception) deal specifically with the event. I don't attack or tear down other Org members, even those who loved the event.
