If Prince had ZERO involvement with this band or this song, it would be reviewed so much differently than it is now. It would not be received well IMO.

I'm glad it was free. razz lol

I love this song! It doesn't have to always be profoundly complicated lyrics. I usually hate it when it's not prince singing but....I love Andy's album, and I love this song.

it's kind of in the same vein as Katy Perry's Firework. I mean...that's a hit, and it's cheese, and poppy and all the stuff I usually hate but....it's also fun and enjoyable.

"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

The bolded is case in point why this song is trash. Thank you. Just to be clear I'm not attacking your tastes I'm just saying your statement goes to show how this song is on that level or "in the same vein" as the other pop garbage of today and I have been saying it the whole time. I personally thought it sounds like a kelly clarkson number, like Since U Been Gone but same difference. The same Prince fans that crap all over these pop acts of today and love this song, just tells me they love it because Prince is behind it and ONLY 4 that reason. If This song came out with Perry, Swift, or Clarksons name attached to it, everybody in this place would have crapped all over it.

well....sometimes (not all the time) fun and enjoyable are good things. I think the problem a lot of people have with "pop" music today is that it's mostly all superficial.... I think most people are ok with a simple fun song from time to time. And I actually think this song has real meaning behind it too, it's not just fluff. (same goes for firework)

you say "everybody in this place"

I'm in this place...and I would not have crapped all over it if it was anyone else...mainly because I probably would have never even heard the song.

Everybody was a generalization. With regards to meaning vs. superficial, call me negative, hater, or whatever you'd like but I personally see (especially in todays music) no diff. I truly believe people like Perry could give a rats ass about people who don't fit in. sure at some point in her life she might have cared (maybe when she was a social outkast?) but now shes a fat cat and those people are non existent in her life. artists like Perry with "fireworks" and Aguilera with "Beautiful" or Beyonce with "put a ring on it" and countless others, make those tunes for listeners, who feel like (due to society) "losers" or "undervalued" "overwieght" or "socially awkward" or "misfits/outkasts" because they are trying to get mass appeal. They are the same artists with another smash hit that talks about having a perfect life, a great sex life and partying it up with tons of friends... It's all superficial and these artists are no diff than politicians, when they [politicians] go to a gay parade to appeal for the "gay vote" or head over to Dr. M.L.K avenue for a festival to get the "black vote". Sadly It's ALL superficial..

ok, negative hater. smile I can't generalize like that, and I can't pretend to know people's motives. I honestly believe almost everyone has has some kind of hurt in their lives...even if it doesn't measure up to someone else's hurt....it's still hurt. Being able to empathize with others even though you have a good life (now) and party it up isn't impossible. I believe alot is superficial, especially politicians and many musical artists but...I don't believe it's ALL superficial, and I really don't believe Live out Loud is superficial.

Just the mere mention of "Coldplay" makes me shudder!

I loved the first two albums but they have transformed into something so unlistenable to me, but I guess their production skills have grown and grown over the years, they seem to be the types that have good technical knowledge and probably take longer to master the record than they do writing it.

Way to lower the bar Mr. Prince.

I am so glad that what we know of to be tracks from the vault have reached us over the years. Had we only been exposed to unreleased vault tracks through its creator, we would've only had "Live Out Loud," the tampered nightmare of "Extralovable" and the totally-ruined "A Large Room with No Light."

It's hard to accept a track like "Live Out Loud" at face value when we know what he actually has in store. We know the potential of a site like 3rdeyegirl.com.

Perhaps no other artist, save for someone like Bob Dylan, has such a rich archive containing, perhaps, the bulk of his musical legacy. Dylan, at least, alternates fresh new recordings with his "Bootleg Series" (and now Miles Davis).

I cannot fathom why Prince constantly derails solid concepts of appeasing his fans by bait-and-swap tactics like pushing inferior artists that are either poor derivatives of his music, or, attempts to sound current.

Back to my first sentence; have we become so desperate for new music that we have a tendency to overpraise?

By doing this, Prince perceives such a rabid perception as par for the course and perhaps he knows he doesn't have to try so hard to make a buck.

aside from the bridge which is as bad as most of prince bridges that tend to ruin his more decent recent ideas .. this is actually a pretty good little song .. i like her voice the wierd guitar wash the driving feel .. this is the first song in the entire batch that i feel is pretty good .. if this was the worst song on a new prince record it would be a decent prince record .. if prince was up in the vocal mix a little more it could sound like a pretty cool prince and the rev track .. i wonder who wrote this .. i am pretty sure prince did the bridge .. but the main part of the song is so much better than anything else he is selling these days .. it is free so probably the girls wrote this one .. for some reason it reminds me of thunder .. i don't know why .. it would be a good opening track on a record

I agree. The bridge almost made me spit water out my nose...but overall it's not bad. Not what I would listen to on a regular basis...but I wouldn't turn it off if it came on the radio. Probably would work better live. Andy Allo's stuff certainly does.

Damn near my exact thoughts! lol That's probably why the OP was "contacted", because Prince knew he'd act like that to even the shittiest of music given to him.

But sadly, Prince is not "joking" us, unless it's a decade plus long joke. sad
