I hope he's not going to say the "real music by real musicians" line this tour, because these girls aren't real musicians. I've heard bands in shitty bars who are better than them. Btw Prince, if you pick talentless girls, at least take some hot ones with big tits. I'm not even trolling. And please don't take them to Montreux.

a very ignorant post

what makes someone a real musician vs someone who isnt

I would think someone who isn't a real musician is someone who uses computers to make sounds but can't play an instrument

They are musicians because they can't play instruments

Ida was on the NPG touring band for over a year

Yeah that's trolling seriosly

But, I don't expect that to happen. I trust Jester would not have shared it without permission to do so.

EDIT: And, the odds seem high I'll be buying a video of this in the next day or two, so... wink

[Edited 2/22/13 11:38am]

smile

I assure U '3rd Eye' assured me to share it with as many people as possible, and that is what I did. They let me know, it was a gift, and it was up to me IF I wanted too, and of course I could not keep it for myself! Haha After they requested I removed the link from my video's description, so that people can just share it until the single dropped, I did that, and now it is on their site for a single you can download! The video is coming soon, and I can't wait to purchase that! This is how '3rd Eye Girl' Works, and I quite love the suspense and adventure of it all! I purchased the song again, just because the sound is so amazing, and I want to support the,!

Maybe, just maybe, it was shared as a promotion of the track so it could be hear before it went on sale?

Or - it's an experiment to see if with it avalible free will it sell as well as ther other tracks released?

PS the I havn'e heard it so I won't buy it argument elsewhere is a bit silly, how often do you here a complete album before buying it (back in the pre digital shop days)?

That's why I said "I hope he's not going to say the 'real music by real musicians' line this tour". Also, when you pay 140€ for a concert at a Jazz festival, I expect it to be top class musicians, yes. Plus, Prince created this expectation by having top class musicians most of his career.

About your misogynistic comment: I do like talented musicians. Girls or boys. I also like hot girls with big tits. smile They are neither one of them. Out of these premises you can conclude that I'm not happy with the female band. But not that I'm misogynistic, let alone the not flushing the public toilet thing. In fact I'm a very clean toilet user lol

But the thing about Prince is that no matter who he is working with, part of the experience is seeing what Prince does with them. Top musician in th world or bar band.

Someone that uses computers to make music is by definition still a musician. You don't have to play an instrument that was invented a hundred years ago to be a musician.

Prince was talking bollocks with that line anyway. I heard him shout it about ten minutes before he went into a sample set.

Disclaimer: I too must confess to liking hot girls and big tits and I'm not ashamed to say I'm very well potty trained too. Unless I've had a few, then I have been known to sprinkle.

I personally hopped on during diamonds and pearls, an album that gets critically panned by many, but it is special for me as it is where I started the journey. Ok, after going back to earlier albums I realise that it isn't his best album, but I didn't listen to it 3 times a day for 6 months for nothing.

This observation says more about what happens on this site and how we react to new music than many people are willing to admit. It's easy to forget that people came to Prince (and music in general, for that matter) at different times and judge music from perspectives based on that. I started in 83-84, got caught up by the end of 84, I used to play certain albums (by Prince and others) so that they became embedded in my very being. But I have not done that with anything, by anybody, since the mid-90's. Even work by artists I "love" doesn't get that sort of time and attention. I'm a 43-year-old man (as of today, since it's my birthday) working 11-hour days with preschoolers, with a wife and an 8-year old daughter who don't share my musical tastes and with whom I want to spend time. I don't really have time to digest songs and certainly not albums the way I used to--and I know lots of people here are willing to make judgments based on one listen,or part of one,or even nothing more than a title, but I just can't. If I'd done that in the past, I might have missed a lot of songs that did, in the cliche, "grow on me." Some people, not having that time, decide to blame the song or the artist.

My opinion on the last 3, Hannah Ford, Andy Allo, Shelby: Prince didn't add much to their talents. They were bad at the beginning, and they didn't get any better . I'm here because I got interested again after hearing the Dakota 1 shows with Gouche and Ron Bruner. I love a drummer who can stay on the background, but that still stands out by nice inventive breaks and light accents on the cymbals (Bruner) not one who smashes her kit to pieces. I forgot to mention that I like Ida, she's pretty musically tight. The other 2, no thanks. And I know I sound pretty whiny to some of you, but the whole experience just gets way better when there are good musicians involved. Like in the ONA era, which still is my favorite one.

Anyway this wasn't on topic anymore so I'll shut up. wink I don't like the song.

That's just it, forget all the other bullshit. it's simple: the song is weak and it's nothing we've never heard before. Two words: Kelly Clarkson. The song is recycled from her material. Just like Screwdriver is recycled from Lenny Kravitz material. Minus Prince's individual releases its just recycled bunk!

This song doesn't grow on me, I would say it's the worst one of all the new releases.Whem I first heard Lol I tought it was a decent song but it gets boring fast and the fact that Prince isn't the lead singer makes it even less nice 2 listen 2. Prince puts 2 much effort into protégés and that's a shame. I still think there's good material that hes holding back 4 some reason, I think he could release another Lotusflow3r if he wanted but he refuses 2 do that.

I can't understand why the song isn't working for a lot of people here. Since yesterday I've heard it at least 10 times and I'm enjoying it more than all other songs so far. And there have been some very good ones. It sounds fresh, unconcentrated, but most of all full of fun...I hear passion in it. Not the technical skilled musician, but the musician that has a bit of fire inside.

It is a pity that a lot of people don't have this same enjoyment with it. That 3rdeyegirl stuff is interesting and I hope that Prince will bring this new material live...in the Netherlands or in the neigbourhood this summer.

I don't particularly appreciate 'LOL' but there's no doubt Donna Grantis is a great guitar player. I think she makes a particularly fresh, exciting addition to Prince's band.

I'm not as certain about Hannah Ford, but judging by the clips online and her following prior to Prince, she's a more than capable drummer.

It's the song that's the problem, in particular the lyrics written by Liv Warfield. I'm unsure why they are promoting 'LOL' to such an extent, when all Prince's recent contributions to the 3rdeye site are far superior.

It's not the greatest song ever.....buuuut....boyfriend has 2 listens for me.....that girl thamg has 2-3 listens...brfst can wait has 2-3 listens....LOL and Screwdriver remix both have over 40 listens for me. That tells me I must really like them. I loved screwdriver(video version) a lot till the remix was released; my preference moved.

None of the songs I'm disappointed in having paid for seeing as how the funds got to a group of people who r likely to make something I'll truly enjoy. Point is...I'm not giving any songs of any band or artist more than a view listens..its like i've heard it all. Just the ones that are on the radio at my job...but there is no escaping from that. I'm not giving Prince not more than a few nowadays, mostly.

Some like it, some don't. If everyone whould like the same things all of the time, this would be a very dull world.

aside from the bridge which is as bad as most of prince bridges that tend to ruin his more decent recent ideas .. this is actually a pretty good little song .. i like her voice the wierd guitar wash the driving feel .. this is the first song in the entire batch that i feel is pretty good .. if this was the worst song on a new prince record it would be a decent prince record .. if prince was up in the vocal mix a little more it could sound like a pretty cool prince and the rev track .. i wonder who wrote this .. i am pretty sure prince did the bridge .. but the main part of the song is so much better than anything else he is selling these days .. it is free so probably the girls wrote this one .. for some reason it reminds me of thunder .. i don't know why .. it would be a good opening track on a record

Here is info on the track: "LIVE OUT LOUD" ORIGINAL LYRICS BY LIV WARFIELD MUSIC WRITTEN BY PRINCE TRACK IS PERFORMED BY HANNAH FORD: DRUMS AND VOCALS DONNA GRANTIS: GUITAR AND VOCALS IDA NIELSEN: BASS AND VOCALS PRINCE: ADDITIONAL VOCALS AND FX W

So fans who don't like a protege song are ungrateful? I'm glad you like it, but saying to those who dont, they have a stick up their ass is ridiculous. I love Prince (obviously) but I'm not going to pretend that every musical endeavor he does is gold. That's called being fake. "ungrateful" hahaha thanks for that laugh falloff

That's exactly what I was wonderin! There's so many bands who can play this kind of music. But there's only one Prince. He is the one that set the standards so high by creating some fantastic music in the past. Standards so high even he can't reach them anymore. I'm fine with that, no one can walk on the tips of their toes all their life. But I don't need a lot of "second best of Prince" music. Not even for $0,88...

It's a poppy, fun, catchy song, with positive lyrics. It's not for everyone, but if you like it, then like it, if not, there's nothing wrong with that either. The music adds the energy to the message.

I didn't buy it, but I listened to it on DrF, and what I get from listening to it, is to not be in fear of being who you are, by showing the world who you are, and do it out loud. That's just one message I get from the song.

Even though I see this song for more of a younger generation, it's the kind of the song, that eventually grows on you, and you'd probably catch yourself singing it off guard, because it's a catchy tune.

Screwdriver has some great energy. Boyfriend and Breakfast can wait is Prince in his comfort zone, sounding so tight and bold but also it has been done before. The production on Screwdriver is not over the top perfect production..its gnarly sounding garage indie. Which is exciting.

His fans will be split..someone that like the rnb, soul music that he done over and over may not get it. Different tastes in music but this is new ground for Prince.
