Andy Allo just uploaded a new jam/rendition of 'Dark' on FB
Under the title 'Darkness', you can find it here! http://www.facebook.com/p...6558162548
Just press play, close your eyes & ride the groove
Prince's ad-libs throughout the intro are delectable & his falsetto is as sensual as ever
The one thing I don't like about this is how he's changed 'bitch' to 'witch', but the way he emotes 'you took my sex & my money, you took all my self-esteem' more than makes up for it!
I love the fact that he's acknowledging material that he's never touched base on before, makes me wonder what he'll pull out of the hat next

Divine!
For those that don't dig AA and his new jam, I guess those renditions will keep us entertained. Prince knows!
Prince I will always miss and love U.

On a different note: Why is Andy constantly posting new songs? Is this all coming from Prince orders, if so he's been very generous with his goodies, but maybe rightly so, cause...you know why! Prince I will always miss and love U.

Just amazing! Really loved it.

Well, he knows that certainly the more dedicated fans love this sort of thing - away from the overproduced albums with filler. This goes more towards the real-live played music.

we're gonna be able to compile ourselves a nice neat little album of rehearsal jams at this rate

let's see what rehearsals have we had so far, from the top of my head:
01. The Dance Electric 02. Ice Cream Castles/Mutiny 03. Days of Wild and Loose 04. Old Friends 4 Sale 05. Darkness
is there anything i left out?
it seems like he knows he's been taking his time with a new album and is throwing us a few bones to tie us over.
and it's all been free of charge, so i guess perhaps i shouldn't bitch as much as i have been
plus i had to smile at the dave chapelle samples. i'm imagining prince in paisley park watching the eddie murphy/rick james sketches, cracking up despite the whole "fuck yo couch" lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Dave C as Rick James yellin' 'DAAAARNKESS' when I heard the title of the song. I like these rehearsal releases. They give a preview of the show, they're new material but still familiar, and they give a glimpse into what it's like sitting in on a NPG rehearsal. The little cues he gives to the band are cool, cuz when you hear them play the song in concert, you're expecting it. e.g. "This is where John's gonna come in with the ride..." Keep 'em coming! In the other thread many show their love for an overproduced song, that is not seen as a filler, and others think AA is the best album he produced since Musicology, so I think this kinda goodies are for people that don't fall to those two categories. It's great he's thinking of us too.

He's done Dark on Gold era shows/aftershows correct?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Those songs are not new. He's constantly digging in the past instead of releasing new and exciting music.

I wouldn't say he's constantly digging in his own musical past, I think that's one of the 1st biggest complaints
He is constantly digging in the past and doing covers of other peoples music, too much to my liking

I like it. I quite like the way they're re-using the old classic NPG Hornheadz arrangements. Arranging of this sort is slowly becoming a lost art. Prince's voice is sounding good too. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Loving it. Simply loving it. Even with all the cues. Without them he could release this as a single. >>

Really diggin this rehearsal jam! The hornz are bad-ass but the backing vocals are still just mediocre at best
P's cues to the band are always cool to hear! Keep releasin' the jams P! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

If mr(?) Langeblue sees this then he will disable your account. That person can't explain why they did that when the Extralovable 'remix' as on her page. So if they don't kill this thread now you are lucky. And they can explain. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

It was played in 1994, when P was testing new material in small venues. AIn't sure it ever was played during the 1995-96 bigger tour. Horns were sampled alongside background vocals back then, which was kinda cool. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Are these horns live? John B on drums? Is that P on guitar? (doubt) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Also: P's mic distorts! So they let the imperfections get out.... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

GOOD GOD!!!!! This is one of my favorite songs by Prince! My favorite version is "So Dark" from Crystal Ball. This version is also beautiful. It's sweet and lazy. Love it! It sounds like he is preparing this for a performance. So exciting!
I can't believe I'm saying this, but if Andy influences him to bring this kind of music to us FOR FREE, I'll deal with her.

iirc he also did a great long version of it at 'stars n bars' in monaco back in 1994 where he did the entire song, then sang bits of i hate u over the beat and played a great little guitar solo at the end of it as he brought it back into 'dark'.
