Under the title 'Darkness', you can find it here! http://www.facebook.com/p...6558162548

Just press play, close your eyes & ride the groove cloud9

Prince's ad-libs throughout the intro are delectable & his falsetto is as sensual as ever bow

The one thing I don't like about this is how he's changed 'bitch' to 'witch', but the way he emotes 'you took my sex & my money, you took all my self-esteem' more than makes up for it!

I love the fact that he's acknowledging material that he's never touched base on before, makes me wonder what he'll pull out of the hat next nod

He's done Dark on Gold era shows/aftershows correct?

he did it at the glasgow garage aftershow, and i think there are one or two soundboard boots like the glam slam 94 miami shows, maybe the 95 bday show

My absolute favorite off of the "Come" album it was on repeat 4 77 times in a row when it first came out..Love this original version with the sexy bass more than the one on Crystal Ball.Prince is really bringing it with the live versions lately. Wonder what his next stop is on the mega successful W2A tour is?....

Its a "MasterPiece".............

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Love it! Love that bluesy sound. Kind of reminds me of Anthony Hamilton/Al Green you-could-feel-it-in-your-soul-kind of blues. I like how he reworks some songs from his catalogue. The backup singers sound different. Doesn't sound like Shelby, Liv or Elisa.

I'm going to listen to the one on Crystal Ball to compare the difference, but I already know I like the current version much better.

this is outstanding!!! this song proves both that prince still can deliver and proves the contrast between what he can do and what he has been doing lately .. ala rock n roll love affair

prince is returning to form with his inclusion of horn arrangements .. while i can applaud prince attempts at recent classics such as dance electric and mutiny .. it is truly disappointing to hear only a few lines chanted during a mostly uninteresting one chord funk groove that goes nowhere .. why he does this i cannot under stand .. contrasted with this most recent darkness and also the old friends for sale .. we know when prince puts even 50 percent of his faculties to good use he can deliver the purple princely goods .. here we have prince and his exquisite horn arrangements .. and .. an almost full reading of the song ..

another bafflement is why prince avoids such full readings for so long .. one has 2 wonder prince sanity on these consistant choices .. dark is a gem .. always has been probably the best thing on come .. as scandelous is the best thing on batman .. not to dismiss lemon crush or pheremone by any means ..

what makes this a prince record? its the prince sound .. listen to a couple of miles and you will hear the prince sound that is oh so much more than just his voice ... the tight poppy funk drums .. the super high squeally guitar .. the sweet sounds of eric leeds laying down a lead melody .. crazy ass bass playing that sounds nothing like any standard funk player out there (unlike his current line up)

don't need all that so much on a slow burner like dark .. but we do need is those sweet sweet horns and a full tight delivery by prince .. see .. he can do it .. prince could easily play a show consisting of fully lyriced versions of dance electric days of wild mutiny ice cream castles extraloveable (sans rap) old friends and dark .. and i am certain no one would mind the lack of the alleged hits ... in fact people would probably wish they could buy a new record of prince singing every one of those songs ... all he has to do is play the full song and do the parts right instead of having renato put some horrible jazz crap over where the actual song used to be

as much as the removal of the bitch line is not a thrilling idea .. i feel that the witch sentiment is more accurate and as scathing .. because a witch is far worse than a bitch .. a bitch is just a woman who uses drama to feed her selfish whims .. a witch will fuck up your life with her evil games and intentions .. plus its halloween y'all .. lets hear it for tha jw giving a halloween shout out ..

lets here it for prince releasing this gem .. even with the distortion and band instructions this could easily sell more than rock n roll affair ever ever ever will

and to all the hater haters that call every fucking critique a hate crime instead of what it is .. the truth ... fuck you .. see prince is capable .. and i am happy to be one of many pushing prince in this far more authentic and inspiring direction .. darkness slays rock n roll love affair by at least a couple of miles

I just listened to the version on the Crystal Ball cd, and love both versions, but I like the bluesy sound of the current one on Andy's FB page. Love the falsetto in both songs as well.

I'm serious!

THIS IS PRINCE AT HIS FINEST! His vocals are tooo perfect! Listen to how he sings the song! I am totally amazed at the level of his singing here. I thought it was a rehearsal in the 90's...He sounds perfect and the damn guitar solo. I don't care if he replaced 'B*tch to Witch..This is one of the most perfect jams....You can't as hell deny of that. lol. Seriously!

I seriously can't stop jamming to it. It's just exceptionally good! The arrangement and the way the band just sounds amazing! The vocals just really take it another level!!

I love the backing vocals!! It does not sound like Shelby, or anyone else..It's just GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok the newer one on CB is not bad. But that haunting bass is what sells me on the original.Plus i saw him do it live at his now defunct "GlamSlam" club here in La b4 he released it years ago.Unforgettable per4mance.....

(Bolded part) Agree. The falsetto voice , bluesy sound is what gets the attention. This will be on repeat for a while. The bluesy sound reminds me of his track 'Satisfied' and others

I like this a lot and I like the guitar towards the end. This version is better than the one on Crystal Ball but not as good as the Come album version.

True. Not to go off topic, while I was listening to the Crystal Ball cd version of 'So Dark', the track '2morrow' started playing and I forgot how much I love that track too. Great instrumentation and use of his falsetto voice. Another nice track is 'One of your Tears'. Lots of good songs in his catalogue, but yes enjoying this current version of 'Dark'.

I second that. "2morrow" is a great track as well. This version of Dark is amazing. I presonally like the Crystal Ball version of Dark the best. I just think the music matches the lyrics the most and I love his vocal delivery on that one. But, I am truly digging this rehearsal.

Thanks never heard the original, but this version has a nice, bluesy, soul sound. Taps into the Al Green, Bill Withers, Leela James, Anthony Hamilton and Martin Luther vibe.

I'm glad someone else is feeling what I feel on that "2morrow" track. Yes both the Crystal Ball and this current version of 'Dark' takes me there...to church I mean... even when I don't want to be there, but that bluesy sound, and falsetto voice pulls me in everytime. lol

U right "2morrow" which is kinda like a remix of TMBGITW is another jazzy slow jam by Prince that doesn't get much credit. He has so many hidden gems that are better than the ones that get played on the radio. Its sad that the diehards is the only ones that know about them...

I think Andy should be given credit for him bringing out these rare trax. She is really inspiring him.Especially given her some of his best funk jams out the vault 4 her new album......

nod I always preferred the Come album version of this song. The remix version from Crystal Ball album is titled "So Dark" but ironically it sounds less intense than the original imo.

lol Yes, love those bluesy tracks, like 'Satisfied', 'On the Couch', and the CB version of 'So Dark' and current version of 'Dark'. Sometimes makes you want to get up and do a church dance, like so:
