maybe to you, i always thought it was a good pop song. thought michael stole the chorus from Led Zepplins song off their second album, can't think of the name. ya know 'come from the land of ice and snow"

Immigrant Song

that's right how could i forget, that's actually, for whatever reason, one of the first songs I can remember.

outside of the word earth I never thought of any correlation. it's a weak song, I thought it was one of the weakest he's ever released.

So was MJ's Earth Song :p

'dre

I thought about this today, without hearing planet earth, there is a similar piano motif, although it's still a terrible song.

I think we can all agree that he's over as an album releasing artist...he'll tour for the rest of his life...but we kinda lost bits of Prince.

A little sad maybe, but it's a natural process and in few years, he may even loose his mind...all great artists have. Why should Prince be an exception?

If you look at historical music analogy, I can predict the future for Prince.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

we can't all agree, I think he can still write a great song, whether he feels he wants to release it to the world for free may be a problem. In pop music, the consensus is that older artists lose relevance but Prince has never been just any artist. If we look at classical music or Jazz, there are artists who arguably do their best work the older they get, I think Prince may fit in that class. Also, interesting that you think he'll lose his mind, who are you basing that on? Just curious.

It's the truth tho. We know all of them had huge issues, specially towards the end of their career they all got confused and insane. Prince is not in the public eye, so we assume he's alright, but I predict he is going through notions.

My prediction for the future is clear: He will stop releasing albums, he will tour forever, and probably end like MJ in about 10 years!

And I do still believe he married that chick!

Prince I will always miss and love U.

To be honest, Prince strikes me as very lazy. Of course, he tours and has energy, but after a while it's all routine, he could pull a show possibly even with closed eyes. People love him, and he will always be thought of as great performer. He made the best music when he was young, why should he ever make such a great music again? He won't. It's a natural process.

Besides, this tour proved one of his worst gigs, he missed soundchecks, he blamed everything on a speficic John, and nobody knows if John exists. It's possibly Prince was referring to his alter ego, who knows? Nobody knows what's going on with him. He appears to be very alienated lately.

And I disagree Prince is just like any artist, and eventually he will go to demise musically, just because he's not in the spotlight does not mean to me, he hasn't lost his mind.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I don't get anything you're saying, he's gotten better as a musician and singer the older he's gotten. He's obviously worked on his craft, as far as his albums, well that's all subjective, very subjective and we could argue that forever. And what proof do you have that he's lost his mind? I do agree that men in his age bracket get a little (lot) wierd but that has nothing to do with being an artist and it's just a personal theory of mine based on old men who end up being a pain in everyone's ass, it scares me because I don't want to be like that ever but who knows.

The thing is, I don't care what state he is in as far as his career goes, because he did everything he can do. He already has hits and he's been out for a long motherfucking time, lasted more than an average artist could released a shit load of albums. The music is great to me. That's all that matters. I couldn't give less of a shit how Extraloveable 2011 is doing on the charts because I love that song.

I haven't been a supporter as long as you have but so what? I'm still a supporter. No matter what his religion is, what his political views are, or who he's dating currently. That's HIS business. I love him because he is talented as fuck. Still is, too. I saw him live a year and a half ago for the first time and it blew my fucking mind because I know in my heart he's still got it.

I wouldn't be on this site if I thought Prince was "OVA" because I'd head over to other websites dedicated to artists I think are epic. I think Prince is epic, so I am here. Even though I have to deal with stupid threads like this written by delusional people.

Goodnight, and oh yeah....

LOCK THIS SHIT!!!!!

Totally agree!!!

And as I said in another subject and I will keep on saying it:

some "fans" of Kiss and Van halen say the same things now they are on tour, "this is a cover band", the original line up was better, the new album sucks, he can´t sing anymore (they say this about Paul Stanley AND Dave) and so on...

Don´t like your fav artist anymore, ok..just leave and find something new in today´s music lol

ya, I stay away from these kinds of subjects usually, they are just made for people who want to be assholes to be assholes. You know, you could go asshole back on them, ask them what the fuck they did with their lives and so on and why do they even come to a site for an artist they clearly revile inspite of their denials. I really do hope Prince never comes here because the negativity is just off the chain, the wierd possessiveness is ridiculous, people want to control his music, his body image, his hair, stupid shit. No worse than stupid, just plain wierd. Prince you got some crazy fans.

I don't know if Prince would agree with that, he's making more money than he was in the past, and he's recording as much and whatever he wants to and making all kinds of short films and videos.

Of course he's keeping it to himself. He's going more in the real artist direction as opposed to a pop star.

he;s making more money than he was in the past? um...what? I think you need to back that up (not just by saying Prince said so)

I kinbd of understand what Graycap is getting at. For me the "mystique" died after Emancipation - the last album of his I truly really liked and enjoyed.

I find a lot of the studio output flacid and uninspired sounding - that's not to say the songs aren't good, I think it's the weak-assed production that deflates me to be honest.

BUT...when all is said and done, I know I can go and see the guy perform live and I remember why I fell in love with him all those years ago. THAT never changes.

From ever since I know of Prince, He does things HIS WAY! and his fans complain and complain, if u don't know Prince by now, maybe u should be a Justin beiber fan or something, he would give you what you want. I am so tired of fans complaining...if he don't do it for you...stop supporting him. Complaining and not agreeing with Prince, is not gna change the man!

There is a big crack in the NPG foundation but since everyone is on the payroll..............all is "good".

You seem to disregard several of the positives. Celebrations, house invites, rehearsals via internet, charity works etc etc. All because you bored etc basically. He takes a break for a few and all of a sudden he is ova lol. Technically he was over after TGE. And The Stones were over after 1981 etc but you criticise seemingly because he isnt at the top of his game at 53 lol. You miss the days of making fake traklists? And you know that musicians can find insoiration at any moment in time.
