It's kind of hard 2 be stable when u are surrounded by "yes" men.

There is a big crack in the NPG foundation but since everyone is on the payroll..............all is "good".

It seems to be so. Can you imagine how they must feel inside, when they badass musicians gotta be backing up a Karoake like funk wannabe?! That's cause Prince thinks so, they gotta be doing this. Maceo must be laughin his ass off secretly.

You seem to disregard several of the positives. Celebrations, house invites, rehearsals via internet, charity works etc etc. All because you bored etc basically. He takes a break for a few and all of a sudden he is ova lol. Technically he was over after TGE. And The Stones were over after 1981 etc but you criticise seemingly because he isnt at the top of his game at 53 lol. You miss the days of making fake traklists? And you know that musicians can find insoiration at any moment in time.

Different tastes for different folks. Critism and opinion are always welcome and acceptable. You are the one that has problems with this. Have a look at the AA performance. If this is truly what he thinks should be dominating what he calls reals music, and specifically FUNK, then Prince is truly OVA.

He degraded his own first class musicians to pub musicians. Today is a sad day to be a Prince fan.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

The hyperbole of the small minded is astounding. After all these years it still holds up (is why I said its astounding).

And for the love of christ stop accusing me of asskissery/failure to criticize.

Objectivity is the enemy of yall small minded ones in 2012 eh? I understand..Ill be good..I promise..love is more important than sex.....etc etc

Wow!

This is a perfect example of the blatant, pure resentment of Prince by his own "fans". True to form these type go way past the boundaries of fair play, reason, logic and even any sense of saying things with any tact or taste. I would hate to be these people because their own anger and dissapointment at life can't be contained.

he has all kinds, all kinds but with a strong portion of them either being wierdly controlling of him, his image his music or critical of every little step he makes. Also has a lot who seem to hate him for not being what they think he should be or what he was 30 years ago. Then we have the gay contingent who insist he is a closeted homosexual and will swear that their gaydars go off the charts when the see Prince. Then we have the women who drool on their keyboards as they praise everything Prince says or does. We have all kinds, we happen to have some very bright people here too who make this site worth looking at.

and let's face brutal reality, most of us never even had anything in life to be "ova" of. I remember a mediocre fighter asking the great Sugar Ray Robinson "what's worse Ray being a has been or a never was?". What the hell have 99 percent of us managed to do with our lives aside from conform to bosses, society, schools, etc..,? Maybe that's what some of you are angry about, not Prince.

You realise that even Cassandra even tho she's behind the keys has more stage presence than a young girl that is pretending to represent a music style that is not her own? I try to imagine how it must feel like if you know you are a badass musician and you are backing up a karaoke singer.

And to answer your question, I'd think they have creative freedom. The issue rather is if a profilic musician prefers to back up music for a karaoke singer. I doubt it.

Yes, that is what was in the back of my mind.

I was never to hype to the 1990 'proteges' they just had nothing 4 me

I still love me some Prince with a beautiful woman on his arm. And for the sake of fandom and wanting Prince to knock this one out of the ball park. I wonder what is it that makes him put so much into someone (that can barely play the guitar) I mean she looks good with that guitar, but I think Ida can kill that bass, why don't we see Prince & Ida upfront more often, why Andy (if they aren't dating as she says) I like Andy I'm giving her a chance ... it all looks good, I gave Bria & Prince a chance too

Now of course Cassandra Ida and anyone else could be just fine where they are, everyone doesn't want to be upfront... and Andy Allo did that Camaroon dance ... but trying to understand her place as a protege... I think I'm looking for her place in Lotusland

Vanity 6 the Time Sheila E they fit, they were a part of the extension of what Prince was doing, they made sense... Who and how will Andy fit, is she the Superconductor or is that Prince will there be a vision, a cohesiveness or will the music the both put out just be some form of imitation of 'old school music'

I did see her perform People Pleaser on Fox, (she hardly played the guitar) at least she trying, I want her to succeed. They need to work on getting her her own band instead of the NPG

You are raising very interesting points here. I was wondering too why he's not supporting Ida or Shelby, cause they have their own music projects running as well just like AA.

Shelby got so much hate here, and I came to the conclusion that she is totally underrated by folks. I also have huge respect for her since she seems to be really laid back and has no attitude problems, same as Ida unlike the rest of the NPG ladies. I saw Cassandra once saying though something similar to the post and Q I raised earlier in my post. These guys are not dumb, they know exactly that AA is not on their level.

The only reason that AA gets the support is cause them are dating. Prince should be happy about boning a 23 year old girl. Lastly, if I ever have to see Sheila or The Time doing back up vocals for AA at center stage at a show, I will forever end my fandom for Prince. Period!

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I don't dislike Shelby (as a person of course) I would like to see Prince form a band around her (do it protege style and looks) Her voice is big, and I don't think background for Prince music works 4 me. She should be outfront.

This reminded me of who BrownMark prob felt on the Parade tour being Princes very visible bass player since 1980/81 Controversy and recently a protege intro for Prince via Mazarati, his skills and talents and he gets put behind Gregory Jerome & Wally on stage

It's over for him as far as making great classic albums, but he always have the stage and that is where he rules. Even when he's performing wack material from the recent albums, he still owns that stage. I stopped holding my breath eons ago waiting for him to make another great album, but I do continue hoping that he will perform more of his rare gems like Extralovable and other classic bootleg joints from that era. And who knows..maybe he'll come to his senses and let Youtubers upload all of the GREAT stuff from hm so that newer generations can be blown and away and inspired. Prince is and will ALWAYS be the man..

Prince is the man........... no question.

My only issue is the current status of his record releasing methods in 2012.
