Yeah I don't understand this conversation lol

Judging by the group's new name and the name of the album, Prince had the right idea. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Neither does he/she. | |

Oh wow. So glad that this is finally coming together, but my God! That 30-second sample of trending was God awful. Is this what they think the Minneapolis Sound sounds like in 2011? I still have hope for the other tracks, but this first single isn't gonna convince anyone who's on the fence to buy something from this "new" adult band called "The Original 7ven".
Can't wait til Oct. 18th, though! [Edited 9/14/11 13:04pm]

That is what I was thinking too. I wish people would not go and get all creative with names. Prince doesn't own the name Morris Day and there may be some people who lost track of what Mr Day is up to that would pick there heads up if they heard his name but are not goingt to respond to the name "original 7". I get that with this new name the band can also try and go on if Morris quits too. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. You aren't getting my point. There are legal issues as to if you don't protect your copyrights, you can lose them. So why should he possibly give up the rights to HIS music? It isn't a matter of them being a threat, it's called business. [Edited 9/14/11 14:25pm]

^ Gosh, i thought we had got rid of all the sycophants on here.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Are you talking to me?!? If so, just because I try to explain things logically to you, that makes me a syncophant? (which you misspelled)
You're the one getting your panties in a twist over them not being able to RECORD/SELL under the name The Time, they've toured using it haven't they?

- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
^ No I think you'll find you've made the spelling error, I was correct.
It fits you like a glove: Syc·o·phant[sik-uh-fuhnt, -fant, sahy-kuh-] Show IPAnoun

Yes, you did get me there, I swear it had an N in it. You still make no sense though and one more insult from you will be reported.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
^ That wasn't an insult, it was an accurate observation based on your comments thus far lol.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't mean only to me, but you're being insulting to everyone.
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
^ Am I? I don't think i've actually 'insulted' anyone, and if I have there is a just cause. You see you are new here and don't know all the negs and trolls about...well i'll help u through it...that is if you don't continue to become like them..

The Band Formerly Known As “The Time” Returns With New Music! Listen Now!Yes! "The Time" is finally releasing new music. One problem; they are no longer called "The Time" but "The Original 7ven" instead. Hmm. We have no idea why they are no longer going by "The Time" unless the rumors of Prince owning the name "The Time" and not letting them use it for new music they are recording. I don't understand Prince's reasoning for it since they have been using it for the past 30 years but I guess we will get into that another time. When I spoke to all 7 original members of "The Time"....I mean "The Original 7ven" they told me that they and Prince were cool. I mostly spoke to Morris Day and Jerome Benton, but nothing came up about the name change. For now, "The Time"..we mean "The Original 7ven" are releasing new music for the first time in 2 decades! The CD "Condensation" comes out in October and the new song "#Trendin" comes out September 20th!

Why tag a redundant "-ven" on the end of 7? Not needed. Trying to get under Princeykins' skin clearly with the use of his favourite number and the "Formerly Known as" nod.

And what's even worse about the title of the first single is the fact that it's got the hashtag symbol in it too. Sigh... And who really thinks they're going to actually hear this on the radio (besides a one or two-time play on Tom Joyner's and Michael Baisden's shows)?

The song's alright. Nothing special or worth checking out again.
It's stuck in the 90's. The chorus's lyrics are repetitive.
For a so called comeback album, this is pretty lame.
And a twitter reference? .....what?!
I don't know...
What time is it? Your time is up!

The band should be called Day Time.

I'm new here?
Funny how you've gone back and edited out all the name-calling in your posts.

They should come up with a symbol for their name like prince did Warner brothers. How bout simply using a clock! We know what time it is! Let me produce it for them! Social Ninja Productions

They should rename the band " "YOUNT TIME" title the lp: "Hey Fucknut elf, it's our band. Stay out of our biz or we going to asswoop you with our gear" Some of you laughed

Good for them, but the song title, and song isn't what I was expecting from them. I will hang on in, and see what else we get.
Edited to say: Trending makes me think of a title coming from a younger set. I really wasn't expecting The Time to come up with a song by that name. I'm staying optimistic in the meantime. [Edited 9/14/11 22:34pm]

What worries me is that most people won't even realise it's out there. If you search 'The Time' on Amazon, it doesn't even appear....this is almost like P is trying to kill them at birth before they get a chance of success...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You're right, but let's be honest.....even if they were able to use their original name, the CD still won't sell very many copies.Nobody sells alot of CDs these days unless you're Lady Gaga or Lil 'Wayne That's why I don't understand why Prince was making such a big fuss about them using their original name. This project is really just a 'gift' for longtime fans who want new Time music. It's not gonna sell 10 million copies, lol.

So you don't think Prince has plans for re releasing/remastering The Times catologue which is why he's holding on to the name. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

The good news is it's not a song about MySpace or AOL. It's a catchy song. But it will date the song pretty quickly just the same. Moms all over the world are going to be blasting this thing in between tweeting and playing farmville.
