Leave it to Prince to build up a bunch of excitement over a tour/residency, get his name all over the news, and then let the excitement die down. Tickets should have been ready to go on sale by today with lots of publicity. Instead we wait and lose interest. No doubt we will regain it, but what about the masses?

if we imagine for just a few small minutes that prince is actually a human being and somehow

does have an inkling of an idea of what normal people have to deal with day to day right now,

it might be that he decided to tell about it now, roughly 2 months prior to tickets going on sale

and actual dates being set, just to give people a chance to put some money aside for tickets,

and transportation or overnight stays in a hotel etc.

i doubt it, but it's at least a possibility, right? biggrin

Nah, if he were concerned about things like hotels, he wouldn't be doing this in December. Hotel rooms in December in New York are very high because lots of tourists come to see all the Christmas decorations, shows, etc. Very expensive time in the City.

Hi Fickyt,

You're right it is a very busy time in NYC from early November through early January, but that never stopped the show. If you ask me, it's always a busy time in NYC 'round the tourist areas anyway, i.e., Times Square/34th St (Penn Station). He stated the announcement will be made sometime in December, so I expect some of the shows will be in December and further into the New Year.

Um the sunglasses only are like GM; therefore, a partial yes...the rest including the sunglasses - MJ...but there is only one Prince and after all these years, I still love his music and his look.

Peace

Oh but GM has held press conferences, too!!!!!

So, really, you're just down to comparing Prince and MJ because they're both black... well, one of them was; therefore, a partial yes... lol

If that's the best response you have ---- not interested in replying---if it's your sense o' humor -- then lol too.

That's a nice way to look at it since he wants friends and family to come it takes time to save up in these hard times ... good way to look at it8-)

Absolutely nothing in common with MJ. First off Prince said, "Bring your kids to the show". He did not say, "Bring your kids to my house." See nothing like MJ, at all! lol

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Ummm, no. That would suck dog puke through a broken straw. lol Sorry, dude needs to tour America. I live about as far away from the Apollo as you can get while still being in the continental United States. An East Coast residency would bum me out.

ooh, sorry about that cerebus, we can't apologize for living in nyc smile didn't he give 3 shows in minneapolis in one day on 7-7-07? didn't he also do 3 shows in los angeles in march 2009? he has toured countless times. at this point in his career he may or may not want to/doesn't have to tour and it may just be catch as catch can. as far as i know the last thing he did here was in june 2006. we are overdue.

oops, i meant didn't he also do 3 shows in l.a. in 1 day in 3/09? he did 1 song w/ maceo in prospect park on 6.15.06, the next day, 6.16, he did 2 or 3 songs on gma in bryant park &

that night he did a show at butter, a small club in soho (available only through the npgmc & they screwed it up 4 me & alot of its members. some of us got an email early, while many of us were still in the park. some got an email after it was way 2 late. some didn't even get an email). those tickets were $125, IF you could get them. i heard they were $312. at the door, which the npgmc also failed 2 mention. i heard he played for 3+ hours that night. i only got 2 see the 2 park performances in 2006. he also played 2 shows on the same day in nyc in 10/08 that most of us were unable 2 attend due 2 the astronomical price, of $1150. those tickets were actually available, i think 1 show was $500 & the other was $650, but were not affordable. after warner prince began doing exactly what/when he wanted. this show or series of shows will be no different. i just found out what the nyc & area dates r & when they r going onsale. if he decides 2 tour this, barring any major schedule conflicts, he should b getting 2 you 2 soon. hopefully you catch as catch can smile

I didn't say specifically the artists he named were one hit wonders, I'm saying I hope he doesn't bore us with one hit wonders...that's all. Some of the artists are still up and coming..and may become one hit wonders...basically, I just wanna see Prince...not all these other not-popular-artists. Let's face it,no one he named is all that exciting and/or popular. None of the artists are really enough to bring out alot of people that aren't coming to see Prince.

And no, I'm not 100% sure the chick is the same...I wasn't there, that's why I said supposedly since I wasn't there and can't confirm it. But it was said the date sure wasn't Bria eek ....who hasn't been seen lately, plus Prince has been spending time with alot of other woman.... LOL I'm being totally "pissy" (for lack of a better words) when I'm talking about the arm candy, just a rant really, it seems this chick has been all over his europe shows and now she's on the promo pic..I'm seeing a pattern with Prince and his protege/girlfriend theme. And I've not been impressed by any of his proteges....IMO they had no talent.

And you're right...I shouldn't have used the word god...

once again it amuses me how some just see prince and nothing but prince and won't go out of the purple spectrum 2 experience other sounds. if that is your thing then u keep on walking with yo bad self but however 4 u 2 say that "let's face it, no one he named is all that exciting or popular" goes 2 show how narrow ur focus is. I have been a fan of mint condition since their debut album on Flyte Tyme records ..oh yeah that's Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's label btw (ever hear of them?), i would have gone 2 see them without prince many a times and they have performed in NYC many a times at BB Kings. Cassandra Wilson is a great performer and has been around for a long time in the Jazz circuits. don't evn get me started on how u sound when u talk about Maceo Parker, Sheila E. and despite what ur personal feelings maybe about Graham Central Station, without Larry, funk would have a different sound so i don't know what ur true beef is with someone paying homage to great artists or trying 2 lend a helping hand. So u must really be the type of person that goes 2 concert and hears about a opening act and come so damn late to the show that u might miss the opening of the headliner and say "excuse me excuse me" trying 2 get to ur seat and stepping on people's feet.

simple soloution 2 it all tho ...don't go 2 the shows so u won't have 2 hear about these "non eciting acts that aren't popular" according 2 ur standards on what's popular

2 quote prince during a concert "miles davis was never popular" ...oh u never heard of miles either right?

wait, daphne. r u also saying sheila & candy have NO talent? i've seen candy twice solo & many times w/prince. i have also seen sheila. they r both very accomplished musicians that have been successful w&w/o prince.

with the exception of maceo, larry and sheila, i have seen all of these artists, except janelle. for those of you who have no interest in seeing them onstage with prince that's fine. it's your decision, your time, your money. doesn't mean your/our focused is limited. just means that when we spend our time and money we want to see PRINCE and no one else. why insult anyone else's choices? especially with funds being an issue for so many at this time? whatever your reasons, if you think it will be fun, go, but if ALL you want is prince, i wouldn't advise it. i have seen prince live 19 times and am on the fence. i'll decide once i know who is on the bill, what venue he will play and of course how much the tickets cost.

oops, i mean i have seen maceo w&w/o prince, larry & sheila w/prince. chaka 2, w&w/o prince. did i miss anyone?

He looks quite good. Even more so considering his age.

But I agree about the shirt, there is an old lady driving around Rodeo Drive looking for that blouse.

Prince Singer/musician Prince makes an announcement at The Apollo Theater on October 14, 2010 in New York City.

Found a kinda/sorta similar top in a catalog:

nod Didn't he used to buy his clothes at Nordstrom's? I'm sure he didn't go to the store himself, he probably had an assistant go there for him.

when kevin smith asked where prince gets stuff like shorts to play basketball in, his assistant told him the boys section of nordstroms which is in the mall of america

prince can't go to mall of america as he always gets sidetracked and ends up in hooters and never buys when he went to get in the first place, so his assistants go for him. that's why he likes the catalogues so much, prince has the catalogue account and is representative in his area and sells stuff to larry and tina etc. he's also an avon rep and hands out catalogues whilst out on his watchtower distribution walks
