falloff @ "bring your kids". I'm a grown ass man, and I have NO desire to see that snoozefest of a lineup. I mean, I dig Cassandra and Janelle, but I don't wanna SIT through their sets while waiting to see Prince. I can't imagine children wanting to do so either. Let's face it, THE Kid lost his youth pass a long time ago. Besides, I simply don't trust Prince anymore. When he says shit like he'll serve as MC AND "play" nightly, he's being extra vague as to cover his ass. (bogusflower.com anybody?) And lastly, if it IS a residency, that'll be the purple nail in the purple coffin. Ain't no way I'm traveling from Seattle to NYC for some lame ass BET jazz festival. Bring the joke to me, and I might laugh with you.

I agree. I would have to be in the mood. The lineup doesn't do anything for me either.

I think everyone is on the bill "really talented" but I don't know if i'll go. More is not always better. When is he going to do a US tour completely by himself just playing by himself? To me this seems like a reallllly long show. Like "when is it going to be over" long.

I would actually would like to attend a complete full show by any these artists if I was in the mood. But not a sampler.

I have no desire to see Prince live anymore but certain things about him do fascinate me. I am enjoying seeing who he is listening to and who inspires him. I would love to see most of the people he spoke about. Mint Condition is wonderful live. Lalah Hathaway is one of my favorite singers just off the strength of Baby Don't Cry and When Your Life was Low w/Joe Sample and Casandra Wilson is a legend. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would actually rather see the other acts than him.

I think this too. I would really like to see Prince live again, but if it was a choice between going to a Prince gig or maybe a Janelle Monae gig or someone like Erykah Badu, then i really think i would choose to spend my money on the latter two.

nod i would rather go see erykah then sit through another show of hearing the same songs i have heard for over 20 plus years already and sit next 2 fans who know nothing about his albums past 1986

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I pretty much agree with both of you. Unless Prince does something at Paisley Park, which I have never been to, I won't be traveling anymore to see him in spite of the other great acts he has lined up. His shows have become too much of a hassle with all the confusion and misinformation, cryptic messages, etc. I'm over the hype. lol

Not to mention the fact that he's playing even more covers now.

You're right that he is still fascinating and I still love the guy to pieces. I would not hesitate to catch a show if he makes it convenient, but at this point I find myself moreso looking forward to seeing Ms. Sade. cool

Ps...I wonder what happened to all the know-it-alls who were claiming that Prince wasn't going to do any shows in the US because of the org critics? Mighty quiet now, aren't they? lol

I didn't say specifically the artists he named were one hit wonders, I'm saying I hope he doesn't bore us with one hit wonders...that's all. Some of the artists are still up and coming..and may become one hit wonders...basically, I just wanna see Prince...not all these other not-popular-artists. Let's face it,no one he named is all that exciting and/or popular. None of the artists are really enough to bring out alot of people that aren't coming to see Prince.

And no, I'm not 100% sure the chick is the same...I wasn't there, that's why I said supposedly since I wasn't there and can't confirm it. But it was said the date sure wasn't Bria eek ....who hasn't been seen lately, plus Prince has been spending time with alot of other woman.... LOL I'm being totally "pissy" (for lack of a better words) when I'm talking about the arm candy, just a rant really, it seems this chick has been all over his europe shows and now she's on the promo pic..I'm seeing a pattern with Prince and his protege/girlfriend theme. And I've not been impressed by any of his proteges....IMO they had no talent.

And you're right...I shouldn't have used the word god...

once again it amuses me how some just see prince and nothing but prince and won't go out of the purple spectrum 2 experience other sounds. if that is your thing then u keep on walking with yo bad self but however 4 u 2 say that "let's face it, no one he named is all that exciting or popular" goes 2 show how narrow ur focus is. I have been a fan of mint condition since their debut album on Flyte Tyme records ..oh yeah that's Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's label btw (ever hear of them?), i would have gone 2 see them without prince many a times and they have performed in NYC many a times at BB Kings. Cassandra Wilson is a great performer and has been around for a long time in the Jazz circuits. don't evn get me started on how u sound when u talk about Maceo Parker, Sheila E. and despite what ur personal feelings maybe about Graham Central Station, without Larry, funk would have a different sound so i don't know what ur true beef is with someone paying homage to great artists or trying 2 lend a helping hand. So u must really be the type of person that goes 2 concert and hears about a opening act and come so damn late to the show that u might miss the opening of the headliner and say "excuse me excuse me" trying 2 get to ur seat and stepping on people's feet.

simple soloution 2 it all tho ...don't go 2 the shows so u won't have 2 hear about these "non eciting acts that aren't popular" according 2 ur standards on what's popular

2 quote prince during a concert "miles davis was never popular" ...oh u never heard of miles either right?

Sorry, but the B&B confirmed that Bria and Prince stayed there( will not disclose the name) at Martha's Vineyard....also Prince and Bria both attended Esperanza Spaulding's show @the Dakota Jazz club as well as they were seen 2gether at First Ave 2 support Jonael Monae. Look out....u will c them 2gether in a few days in Denmark.

LOL! That's what was so dumb about the people saying that foolishness. Prince knows damn well that the vast majority of his fanbase do not post on fansites. Even the ones who do will still buy show tickets and cds. Why some idiots think that a professional entertainer is gonna sit around and pout when there's money to be made is beyond me.

there's always serious ass-talking in this place. For all those who complain about the negativity, they keep coming back to this place instead of visiting the sites that are mostly positive and they seem to have collective amnesia and forget that the org has always been this way: the positive and the negative. I remember visiting this place in 1999 and not wanting to post because of some the vitriol spewed in P's direction.

i honestly believe some of them love the drama.

There is no comparison between them in these pictures... none.

Obviously, there are dif opinions...clearly, there are similarities in the outfits and sunglasses, etc. Whatever the meaning...I'm glad Prince is still doin' his thing.

I remember visiting this place in 1999 and not wanting to post because of some the vitriol spewed in P's direction.

i honestly believe some of them love the drama.

And the attention...wink

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Look out....u will c them 2gether in a few days in Denmark.

falloff

You are too fucking much. The B&B confirmed it & we'll see them in Denmark?!? You're so transparent, why do you even try to hide your relationship to her? And now you're writing in Princebonics too, that's even better! lol

You guys are so desperate to keep her name circulating, don't want anyone to think she's not still working her shovel on that stack of gold, right?

There was no performance.

According 2 a gentleman (fan) that works in the theater, Prince was out the door as soon as he was done speaking.

I only caught the tail end of the story, but Prince had that gold Strat on him at some point. The news talent were talking over the sound, so I thought it was a performance of some sort. Did Prince put that guitar on for some reason at the press conference?

Prince never touched the guitar.

It just stood off to the side of the stage.
