It was a wonderful tribute. I loved Patti Labelle's performance as well as Alicia Keyes climbing on the piano. I was worried at first but she pulled it off so well.

Trey Songz sounded like that Eddie Murphey character with the Jherri Curl "Sexy Chocolate" from Coming to America.

He sounded like a hyena with that vibrato. And that Yaaah Hoooo..Yaaaah Hoooo was just outright wrong.

There's a little thing called "practice". Guess he never heard of that. And why the hell didn't the soundcheck quality people tell him to by no means even dream of singing that song. Who let that shyt go down like that? Somebody should be fired.

I will not hammer the performers in the tribute. After all, look at who they are following in their tribute. After you have heard Prince do a song, no one can ever do justice on a cover. At least I have never heard anyone do justice at it.

That being said, I think they gave it their all, none so much as alecia, who in my opinion gave the best performance of the night, and it takes someone who is really passionate about Prince to cover that song, it is truly one of his best.

Patti gave nothing but love to the boy, and I could see he felt it. I do think, though her performance was not the strongest, but was the best deserved. Patti is a vet, just as Prince, and that gives him acclimates. I believe he was honored.

I really love the fact that he told the other artist that they didn't have to make the mistakes that he had made. I know some would argue, what mistakes? But Prince knows his life and how his actions have effected him, and there is no better judge than one's self.

He was indeed very very wild, raunchy, nasty etc. And though we are all here because he has a strong fan base. He would have even had a stronger fan base if he didn't isolate some listeners with the raunchy lyrics. Then you know the whole contracts, name change, slave on the face etc. I guess he was trying to impart some knowledge on folks. That's my guess.

Esperanza was the best part of the Prince tribute. Her coolness overshadowed Janelle and Alicia, and even Ms. Patti.

Patti is definitely not afraid to ball her face up while singing with a mean screw face frown. LOL. I would love to hear something new by Patti. Something that she puts effort into. Quincy Jones should do "one for the road" since he's old and all, and get Patti, Aretha, Patti Austin, Bobby Womack, and make something happen on CD.

Patti could just scream one note for 3 minutes, and Prince would eat that shyd up. He loves her.

What a sensational tribute! I thought all four women did fantastic job. The energy Janelle showed & kick off with was incredible, Esperanza was just down right classy & sexy, Alicia flawless as always & I loved seeing her let go, pregnant & all and Patti – oh Patti, what a fabulous cresendo to a unforgettable tribute dedicated to a unforgettable musician & man.

Do not over-analyse & appreciate the tribute, his speech & recognition for what it is: 100% Class & Style!

Patti is Patti.....you know what to expect, as my Grandmother says, "All that yellin'". I thought Alicia Keys' vocals were dreadful. When reaching for the falsetto......ouch. Im not saying he should be writing songs like Darling Nikki at 52. Im not saying he should be grinding and humping the floor at 52.
