I had the vinyl of Charade, the cover was great. Then I got hold of the cd... With the worst cover ever. Contents were great though. blah blah blah

Slightly hyped treble? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Well if Prince is ever in some way related to this "release" then thanks. If he isn't then his folks need to take notice that some re-released old boot is getting more praise than his last radio release.
Oh, and Witness is now excellent in this quality. Let's hope for more.

All i know is it's preceded by "Wendy wants to live forever". Don't know why that line is muffled on this release though. It's strange.

Notice the audience noise, too. You can hear it a couple of times throughout the song. When Wendy says "Ich liebe dich" and then later, IIRC.

This is an excellent bootleg, although there's nothing really new on it.
"Witness 4 the Prosecution" is worth the price of admission alone, IMO. What a cool song.

Yup, nothing new but a very nice upgrade.
Still some analog tape defects and imperfections can be heard, aside from the treble, but there's so much more detail....! Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

How many more bootlegs are we bombarded with that have the same tracks????? yeah how dare we be bombarded with free, crystal clear outtakes! The unthinking bastards! I'm staying well away... Exactly. @Desire2006, If you think this is just another 'run-of-the-mill' release then no one is forcing you to listen to, or more importantly, pay for it. Feel free to stick with the significantly worse audio quality versions already out there. Meanwhile everyone else should feel free to listen to some of P's best unreleased tracks in never before heard quality. These outtakes could of remained circulating between a small group of traders, and possibly been sold to Sabotage or Eye records, but instead FBG are bringing them to the wider fan community for free. After all, the only person who should profit financially from Prince's music is Prince. Let's face it, P is never going to release Wonderful Ass himself, and in these dark days of Purple & Gold and Cause & Effect, it's good to be reminded of P's genius with these fresh sounding songs from the past. I always love those old boots, Crucial, Charade, Purple Underground. Choclate box was one of my first boots, I had it on tape summer of 1990, thats when I started to get hardcore, I even missed the England world Cup quarter final because I had Prince tickets. I still have my vinyl copy of Chocolate Box. Terrible quality, but it had those clandestine tracks on it - it didn't say "Prince" on it anywhere. It was the second boot I purchased after The Black Album on vinyl. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

^ very very strange,
I have this vinyl LP too, but "Prince" is on my copy, both on front at the top and on the back is written: "All compositions by Prince, lyrics by Valentino". Pic from eBay.. ps.. I bought it here in Denmark, Copenhagen in 1988. - [Edited 3/13/10 4:33am] [Edited 3/13/10 4:36am] Prince 4Ever.

Notice the audience noise, too. You can hear it a couple of times throughout the song. When Wendy says "Ich liebe dich" and then later, IIRC. Some audience noise should be present on Jill Jones' version of All Day All Night as well, since it's the same live Revolution take that produced the official release. This one with Prince's vox is earlier in the production chain, but the same performance. I guess it's possible that the tape used on Box O Chocolates didn't contain the entire recording of the conversation. I don't know. http://www.princevault.co..._All_Night All Day, All Night is the fifth track on Jill Jones's first and only Paisley Park Records album Jill Jones. Although Jill Jones shared official writing credits, the song was written solely by Prince and is registered at the Library of Congress as having been written by Joey Coco.
In 2009, Prince used the label All Day, All Night for two concerts in Paris, France on 11 October: a 5pm show (All Day) and a 10pm show (All Night); he also performed the song and used chants from the song several times during the shows and others that followed later that week; it remains to be seen if there is a further purpose behind this use of the song's name. Initial tracking for Prince's original version took place during Prince & The Revolution's concert on 7 June, 1984 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN, USA (this is listed in the unreleased versions section since it was used as a basis for the released track). Prince added further instrumentation and Jill Jones added vocals at a later date (likely 1986-7, although this is unconfirmed). If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The pix I posted are not my scans, but my copy is the sans-Prince, Tony Visconti version. I think I purchased it in about 1988-89 at a local indie record store (in the basement, of course - that's how it was done back then). I could easily have the dates wrong. Too bad they don't make Viagra for the brain. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

maybe there's a german? (maybe italian?) edition, incl. "Prince" mention,
and a US without the "Prince" mention...? On the back of my copy is written, in the upper right corner: "Sarotti Sound-products 888", I guess that's a studio in Europe...? - [Edited 3/13/10 5:02am] Prince 4Ever.

From the looks of my copy, it was Italian. Maybe it was pressed without "Prince" for the US because of stricter copyright laws and in an attempt to keep it under the radar. All I know is, it was the beginning of a lifetime of "chasing the dragon" for this bootleg collector. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

From what I've been told, the title of the boot is a dead giveaway it was inspired on the old Chocolate Box boot. They only replaced Joy In Repetition with Wonderful Ass and Witness. I don't think Starfish and Dorothy are different, but they aren't LP or CD sourced, everything is from tapes. [Edited 3/13/10 7:31am] Busy doin' something close to nothing
