(much as how they became successful as a byproduct of material scarcity, which was likewise more a confluence of coincidental factors rather than any real vision on the part of corporations). prince feels like he hasn't been paid what he's worth. hopefully, the fact that we keep showing up for his albums and websites will get through to him someday. PRINCE will never have another radio hit plain and simple, he will get some play, but lets be real, here are the songs that have garnered him play in the last 10+ years. SomeBody's SOmebody Call My Name Satisfied Somewhere on Earth U're Gonna C me 3 of the last 4 are the same song. Prince cant get any wide play anymore, and the play he gets are for "typical" ballads that are all in the same predictable "prince" mode. Not true I've heard way more songs then that on the radio here in the last 10 years... Like Black Sweat, Future Baby Mama, Musicology, & most recently Turn me loose(which he should have put on his new set) & some Bria songs like Here I come. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

i'm not sure prince will ever be happy but i agree he could dominate radio if he played the game. i don't think playlists (especially in the post- clear channel era) have much to do with content. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Yeah, I agree. Those two songs and Musicology were the only songs that had "significant" airplay in the U.S. All three went top 10 on the Urban AC chart. Now if people want to start including heavy video airplay, then Musicology and Black Sweat definitely deserve some mention.

Very Localized once again, as far as him hitting big stations everywhere with something thats NOT a ballad in the RB ac mode like FBM, Call My Name, U make My Sunshine etc...its not going to happen, its that simple. You will get spot play on Rb stations in big markets, but it will be very minimal, Call My Name and FBM and Satisfied, its all the same mode, garnering same stations and same audience, which is fine, but you will NOT see Prince get a widespread across the board played song, like a 4ever or Dreamer, the only POSSIBLE way for him to get somewhat wide play is with the "phoned in" prince-like ballad "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

It bothers me that CHR AC stations will not play Prince's pop stuff. "The One U Wanna C" had SOOO much potential to be a big hit, but AC programmers wouldn't give it a chance. They kind of did the same for other 80s acts like Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. They cannot seem to get a decent radio hit. It's crazy to me how 20 years ago (I'm going to sound like an old man now) an artist that had been in the business for years could still manage to get a top 40 hit. In the 80s, people like The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, The Monkeys, Grateful Dead, Paul Simon, Bill Medley, James Brown, Paul McCartney and others scored HUGE hits. Now, it's all about youth and the NEXT big thing. Society has no respect for the people who paved the way for them. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Not really....it means that BRIA had a number one debut album. One that debuted at number one. That's unheard of...especially with no airplay for a debut artist. He needs to hurry and get her on Dancing With The Stars to perform Everytime. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I'm pretty stoked about the #1 spot. Not that it makes the album any better but some people pay attention to that stuff as far as what they choose to listen to, so hopefully some other folks will pick it up as well with the publication of these sales numbers.
Every time I look @ the chart though in my RS it's always the lamest 'artists' topping the charts. btw, RS gave LOtUSFLOW3R ***, MPLSoUND ***1/2 & Elixer got ** if anyone cares or didn't know.

Yeah the review was pretty accurate, to me, alot of the issues i had were covered in it. I would flip the ratings for Lots and MPLsound, they went overboard with that, since they seemed to not like that album as much, basically saying 5 out of 9 songs were good, to me thats not a 3 1/2 star album thats a 2 1/2 star album. Number23 said: Doesn't this mean just 60k has been sold? If he's actually shifted more then 180k units I'd be very surprised. I'd think it counts as three for each cd. Then there are the bulk numbers which worldwide distributors have bought from Target - thousands, likely. I'd love for this CD to be a huge success, but, I'm realistic. Holding back the worldwide release might just be a marketing move to boost his first week position in the US. Another unique chart cheat from the wee man!
this is actual units.only the riaa certification will reflect that its a triple disc.by that standard its a gold record(180,000 x 3=540,000)

I mean, it's a no-frills package. Cardboard case, no liner notes or anything. Prince probably did his own graphics on his Mac. Recording at Paisley Park. CD's cost about 10¢ in bulk. ...and Target probably footed the bill for radio advertising. Somehow I think that it's a money-maker for both Prince and Target. ....oh yeah...and the fans paying $77/each for membership to the website probably bankrolled some of the expenses. So, Prince probably got the cds for $1 or so with 200,000 or 500,000 cds being printed. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
