Sorry my computer is acting up. What are you talking about? PE is one of his best. It's not as good as 3121, but I would at least consider it for the top ten. It is a clean cut album. Guitar rocks! The ballads are nice. I love the spirituality. And Chelsea Rogers is SlAMIN! The two weakest joints are "Lion of Judah" and "Resolution", but they're still cool and they are saved for last tracks.

Hi,

I really thing that he could have done 1 good Album. instead of 3 not good.
Musicology, 3121, Planeth earth. we can take one or 2 good songs in each and have one good album.

I don t think that we will get from him anything as great as SOTT.....

I can't believe what I'm hearing... eek

No way is PE is his worst!
I'd say that NewPower Soul is probably the worst of all the albums I own, but I don't hate it either. It's just very so-so.

Some people are so cruel... ok, I'm gonna stop right there b4 I start letting my anger dictate my response.

I love this album nearly to death. It is nowhere near his worst at all in my book.
Call me naive if you like cuz I haven't been around THAT long, but this is how I feel.
The only time this album ever came off disappointing, it was when I was distracted by a lot of the negativity going round here. But negativity can generally alter my album viewing experiences no matter which one it is.

I'm not ashamed to say it, but Planet Earth is in my top 6 albums that I find are at a level much higher than all of the others I own. Not because I pick it apart and say "this is weak, this is cheesy"... but I rank my albums on how much I enjoy spending time with them. Not just the quality of the music itself.

And for those who are curious, my top 6 also includes:
1999, TGE, Come, Purple Rain, and Parade.

And when I get around to SOTT, I guarantee, those 6 will become 7.

People always seem to be so hard on the new stuff. I came into it expecting nothing to really surprise me or blow me away, just to hear where he is emotionally and musically.
And I have to say, I loved it the first time I heard it and everytime since then (except for that one time). I feel like he's in a very good place musically (if he keeps going in this direction, I think his next album will be rated excellent), and he's in a good place spiritually. Just by listening to the music and feeling the vibe... he sounds very happy to me.

This album also sounds more alive than the 2 that came before it.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

His worst in my opinion is For You confused

I like Planet Earth, but it didn't rock my world and I only really listen to the first 5 tracks and track 8.

Now, 3121...that was and still is fire! headbang
Love that album heart

...Its all up to personal opinion
If you will, so will I

Prince does not make bad albums, just those that appeal to the tastes of a larger or smaller group of listeners.

Personally, I'm not going to buy Planet Earth. I don't care for it at all but that doesn't mean it's a bad album; just that it doesn't turn me on.

I might download the songs I like (Guitar, Chelsea Rogers) for 99 cents a pop but there's no need for me to have the CD on my shelf when it comes to this one.

Same with Chaos and Disorder, the only two songs I listen to off that one are Into the Light and Dig U Better Dead yet some orgers say that P should make more rock guitar albums because this is what he does best.Huh?! I can't listen to that at all.

NEWS was a huge disappointment for me, not because it was bad but because I got swept up in the pre-release hype and expected something more along the lines of Madhouse, which I dearly love.

So it's really all and always subjective. Like what you like and dislike what you don't but take responsibility that the bottom line is in the ear of the beholder.

Someone in this thread said Lovesexy is the worst thing P has ever done. I find that totally astonishing.

In my ranking, Lovesexy is in a category by itself, a masterpiece that I don't even bother to rank other P albums against because none will ever compare.

It's an apples and oranges dilemma. Let's say all of Prince's albums are like sexy private jets. Lear has the name recognition and great products but when you start nosing around you'll find there are other great brands and models out there.

For me, I can't compare Lovesexy because Lovesexy is not a jet, it's a rocket ship; far and away in a class of its own.

what none of u understand is that his music suffers and will continue 2 suffer as long as he is tied 2 that cult Jehovah's Witness. I know b cause I ws 1 of them 4 over 25 years. they will drain his life & talent. he will never b free until he is free from the lies that they give him.

i wouldn't say it's the worse, there is some really beautiful work on it

planet earth is a beautiful song,
and those symbols and bass hits at the start.. they are the best =)

guitar rocks.. fury like
nice, catchy and very very fun!
i really like when he gives us this style

Somewhere Here On Earth is pretty amazing, i really think this track deserves alot more merit..
the horn and those crackles are gorgeous 2

The One U Wanna C is fun
i know he started it and all but im getting over the spelling thing a little

Future Baby Mama,Mr.Goodnight,All The Midnights In The World : are all pretty standard to me.
although i do like the little spanish man with the wine and moet =)

album picks up a little with chelsea rodgers

lion of judah.. i dont like all this i strike my enemies down stuff

revelation.. not the kind of track i can remember, had to go back to the album to remember what it sounded like

so for me the first half of the album is A LOT stronger than the 2nd

looking back over it i do rank the album
it works really nicely as a whole

Somewhere Here On Earth would have been a sure HIT with them

they have good taste those seniors nod

No way his worst...takes a little while to get into it but it's worth the effort. Some of the tracks are beautiful but I totally agree that a number of lyrics irritate me!! IMO GB may be the worst although it has a couple of fantastic songs.

I don't think For You is eligible for "worst" Prince album. To me, it's kinda exempt from even being considered for the category because it's his debut album.

I mean yeah, technically it would fall in that category, but it feels almost wrong to say so . . .

Take away the non-Prince songs and you have a very fine album. In fact, that Prince-only album would nicely finish off Prince's "Golden Era".

I think it would have been more highly regarded if it had not been associated with a commercial movie failure.

I think he's upset that Prince didn't put enough funk on the album, which is actually why many folks here resent it. At the same time, some people have very little tolerance and patience for what Prince is doing now as great as it may be. They all want another "Dirty Mind" and "1999".

I personally think "Planet Earth" is some of the best stuff he's done in a while. I'm glad to hear him rock out again and bring back some of that Revolution-flavored pop of his days of yore. His reunion with the GirlBros. even made this an extra special affair. Folks here seem to have a problem with Prince turning his amp up and rocking the fuck out, I see. But who said Prince was just a one-trick pony? This just shows his creativity and versatility. He's not just about the Funk and the Soul. He can rock out like the best of them too.

So no, PE is not his worst album. It's one of his best, IMO. "NewPowerSoul" on the other hand.....

I think for me, the thing that turns me off about Planet Earth is that the lyrics in the songs, with a few exceptions, are lyrics that a man who's about to turn 50 years old no longer has the grace to be able to sing. Example: In "The 1 U Wanna C", as good as a pop song as that is, one line in the chorus, "I ain't tryin' to be a hater..." ruins the song for me. C'mon now, if a 50-year old guy you knew in the club walked up to you and talked to you like that, you'd think he was trying too hard to be hip or young.
