PRINCE LATIN INTERESTS II

HELLO,
Is it me but Prince has a serious thang for the Latin culture.

Irealized that Prince has always had a SERIOUS INFATUATION with latin women. The guy has been married twice to latin Women.

Secondly, Prince performned atthe ALMA Awards 2007 The Alma Awards is an awards show for Latin entertainers. Prince Performed with Sheila E.She is Latin but Prince isn't.Idon't know what song he performed buthe crowd loved it from what I heard. Beyonce performed via satellite the spanish version of Irreplaceable. She is non Latin too.

A couple of weeks ago I read and saw that Penelope Cruz went to one of Princes concerts. He even supposedly serenaded her. Besides that,Salma Hayek another latina actress, writer, producer, directed a video for Prince from his 3121 cd.Also Eva Longoria was seen sitting next to Prince and Dave Chapelle at a basketball game this year. She was heavily into a conversation with Prince; there r pictures to prove it.
But what reallyhad me starting tothink is when I read the lyrics to MR GOOD NITE. Prince is making references to a spanish man.
Inthe song, the woman is going to go upstairs and meet a spanish man.IS prince talking about himself LOLOLOLOL

Just asking

WOW!
ummm,1st off Mani is not Latin.Yes,I think Prince loves Latin women and Latin culture but ummmm I think youre kinda going overboard.Hes friends with Penelope and Salma but Im pretty sure they arent his only friends. And he was seen sitting next 2 the MARRIED Eva Longoria at a basketball game...all this doesnt mean hes the "spanish man".The Almas are for people who I guess make an impact in the Latin community and so,I guess Prince and Beyonce that.IDK if youre jokin but this thread is kinda weird and whats your point?
1)Is Prince infatuated with all things LATIN?
or
2)Is Prince spanish?
or
3)"...I just wanted 2 make a thread"

Spanish and Italian belong to the same family:

The Romance languages (sometimes referred to as Romanic languages) are a branch of the Indo-European language family, comprising all the languages that descend from Latin, the language of the Roman Empire
http://en.wikipedia.org/w..._languages

smile

[quote]Italian (italiano):
Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian has retained the contrast between short and long consonants which existed in Latin. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. Of the Romance languages, Italian is considered to be one of the closest resembling Latin in terms of vocabulary,[2] though Romanian most closely preserves the noun declension system of Classical Latin, and Spanish the verb conjugation system (see Old Latin), while Sardinian is the most conservative in terms of phonology....

Since Prince is Italian and Italian and Latin are in the same family, it should come as no surprise that he's into his culture. He grew up in an Italian household, so he's just representing his peeps.

There are a number of myths regarding Prince’s ethnicity and gender, some spread by Prince himself. The most pervasive is that he is the child of a black father and white mother, a myth later bolstered by the film Purple Rain, starring Prince himself. Prince's parents are, in fact African-American, his mother of African-American, Indian and Caucasian lineage, specifically (noted in a 1985 Rolling Stone interview with Prince). And according to an April 28, 1983 Rolling Stone article,Prince's father is of Black and Italian ancestry, and his mother "is a mixture of a bunch of things."

No Pleasure P...I feel ya! I have seen pics of both his parents and they are BOTH Black! Prince was a light skin Black man with a big afro when he started out. When he got a little more successful he got a perm and started saying he was of mixed heritage. Does it matter on way or the other? Heck No! But Pleasure P is right. Many, many black people can make the same claims based on our history. Some choose to acknowledge their different backgrounds (Prince), and some choose to simply state that they are Black. To each is own!

He most likely grew up with Italians and Hispanics. So in a way, He is going back to his roots, regardless of his ethncity!
I'm Italo-Australian, yet I love the Spanish and South American style off music and the way they perpetuate and embrace their culture. More so than the Italians.
so why can't Prince be the same????

That is a funny story...shows you how ignorant the rest of the world can be when it comes to defining people of the Black/African-American race..did she realize that by him being part of the Black/African-American race that he is also part of the "Human Race?". Was this lady hospitalized after that? That reminds me of that movie with "Imitation of Life" when the white guy found out his girlfriend had a Black Mother...he went ballistic and dumped her..

But....here we go again... lol ....when are people going to understand the history of "African/Black Americans?" for crying out loud..our varied complexions..we carry the "human race" in our bloodlines...that's just the way it is with all Black/African-Americans in this country and other parts of the world...we come in ALL shades... why oh why do people try to water down Prince's blood line or feel they have to "upgrade" from being black to make him more acceptable for their own comfort or when it's convenient?

At least most of us know what happened during slavery times all over the world and why sooooo many black men and women come in varied complexions that are questionable to some, whether his mom or dad had "whatever" in their blood--well so do the majority of Black men and women in this country and all over the world... doesn't mean we're not part of the Black/African-American race...uh...remember that "one drop rule in America?" Or did we forget? It was only a little under 500 years ago that slavery took place in this country...did some of you forget what happened? Did you really think the varying complexions would have disappeared by now ? All those varying complexions reveals the truth of America's past--which rears itself in the bloodlines of those descendants of African/African-American/Blacks in the world...the evidence of history does not lie...people do.. lol : See I know the reality of America's past but I walk with no hate in my heart, because I am not the one that racists or those who perpetrate hatred based on skin color have to face on their judgement day.

I have 8 siblings and we vary in complexion ...same parents though lol varying complexions are common with Black/African-American families...so would they love Prince any less once they find out he's a member of the Black race and would they still be a fan of his music? I mean really...after all he is human...so let's respect and appreciate him for "all that he is" and his music. I mean if there is an artist's music I like, you think I base my decision to like or dislike their music based on their "skin color/race? How silly is that?. lol

The simple fact of life is, that if you can't accept the reality of someone's race as equal to them being a human being, then you have a real problem and some real human issues....but I wish those of you well that think that way....good luck in your quest to accept all people as part of the human race and not just those you feel "comfortable" with.....just my human cents.

Peace

I have 9 siblings. We were all born in France, so French we are but from Arabic parents which makes us Arabic too. I have learnt Spanish and English at the same time and spent two years in Spain and now I've been in the USA for about 7 years. I agree with the lack of knowledge when it comes to foreign culture but here is my input on the subject.

There is only one race: Human race
Many ethnicities: Latin, African American, Asia, Caucasian, ...
Latin includes: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and even French since all those 4 romance languages come from the Latin Language itself. However, in the USA the word latin seems to revolve around South American countries only setting aside Italy, France and Portugal.

Vanity is half African American and half German, to my knowledge she is not Latin.
Mani is half Italian and half Egyptian, to me she is Arabic and Latin.

Now, is ethnicity such an important factor to all live together? I don't think so. I take people as they are and vice versa.
