3121 is the superior album. His best in years. Even though it didn't break too much new ground, it's a rock-solid Prince album with songs that have energy and excite, whereas "Planet Earth" really lacks excitement for me...very bland sounding tunes...nothing very memorable. If I could launch 5 Prince albums into space, to give aliens an idea what Prince music is, they would be... Purple Rain SOTT Lovesexy 3121 The Rainbow Children Agreed but.. ur 5 album space launch.. u have left out any album with the original NPG. If u had to get rid of one and replace it with an NPG one, which one would u choose (hypothetically) The Tao te Ching gives advice to rulers:

It may change in the future but I'm going to have to say 3121. When PE hits, it hits higher but it seems more uneven.

Planet Earth. I like more songs on Planet Earth than on 3121

Planet Earth Hands UPPPPP
3121 is a decent cd, but seems like P was trying hard to find his funk again or it felt somewhat pushed, PE on the other hand is just kind of old school ballads/jams/and funky, First cd I listened to all the way thru the first listen without forwarding any tracks since SOTT! Go Planet Earth!

Why that face? It's great to see that 3121 is still holding up well for so many people. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I listened to PE when it was on MSN last week...bought it this morning and have listened to it at least 4 times today and I just have to say, I am just not all that excited by it. 3121 by comparison is no Parade, SOTT or anything like that, but I have to put it far above Planet Earth. PE has its moments, but it would have to be 3121 for me.

I was wondering when someone would do a poll on this...
Planet Earth, I wouldn't say, by far, like some of the orgers r saying...they act like 3121 was garbage or something. Planet Earth just has more quality tracks.

Oh shit! Sorry guys, I totally forgot about Black Sweat - nothing on PE compares to Black Sweat! Ok, I'm not sure now....

I'm not giving my opinion yet cause I need more time with PE and it's still growing on me and that's a great thing. I will say that it's nothing short of amazing to see 3121 get all this love. This CD has been dragged through the mud by what seems like everyone on here. I love it too but I can't compare as of yet. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

3121 for me...Maybe PE has to grow on me, but for now, it is just okay.PE maybe is musically more complex, and that's a good thing, but it doesn't really thrill me. I'm A Prince fan...not a fanatic...and I love Prince's music. I even bought the "Lovesexy" album...when that was taboo. This is no "lovesexy" and I wasn't expecting it to be that, but WTF?

Granted, PE hasnt had the number of rotations that 3121 has seen at my
place but at this point im feeling it a lil more. Other than Resolution, which is gonna have to grow on me, i can just let this disc flow. It's a good rock/pop/r&b mix. I've played SHOE so many times i can hear it in my sleep. Put me down for PE...though it's gonna be interesting to revisit this in another six months after it has aged some. How well an album ages has always been an indicator of its quality to me.

I like Planet Earth a lot, but the vote goes to 3121. Maybe because 3121 contains more songs, maybe because it has more of a funk slant to it, or maybe just because I love the return of the Camille voice in the title song.

What the ...heck?
Are people actually listening to this album? Somewhere Here on Earth alone tops anything on 3121, including Black Sweat. (Which still isn't bad, by ALL means..) Future Baby Momma and Mr. Goodnight are also really working for me.. Planet Earth for me. Falling leaves will appear to them.. Like slow-motion rain..

Planet Earth is the better album for me. I feel there's more to explore with a bunch of growers in the mix, whereas 3121 was more like what you get is what you get. I liked 3121 but it didn't grow on me.
Personally, however, I think Musicology is the pick of the 2000's albums. I'm testing postive 4 the funk

Nah, lets keep this one going for awhile. . .some people haven't had a chance to weigh in and also some people have said they want to let PE "marinate" for a minute before they decide.

I'd have to lean towards "Planet Earth" right now. It has a few of the tunes i need right now. 3121, we'll meet again. "I don't make the rules. I just play"
