PE for me, didn't think alot of it at first hearing, but I've had it since the mail on sunday, and its a real grower, i hated the Lion Of Judah on first hearing - but I think its great, beleive it or not the only song that I think is weak is Chelsea Rodgers !, but 3121 is great, except for Satisfied, Beautiful, Loved & Blessed and Get on the Boat - I'm not too keen on these 3 songs. so PE wins , as there's only one song that i'm not keen on.

PE.closest thing to his 80's output, and the title track is the best thing he's done in decades.

Although I like a couple of tracks on PE more... its the tracks that I don't like which makes 3121 the better album to me.

Both great albums.

I was still listening to 3121 up to the release of Planet Earth

but I would go for Planet Earth, it's just getting better and better at the moment with each new listen.

I really enjoy both, but I definitely prefer 3121 as a whole.

3121 for me. I love the entire album.

I love 5 songs on PE...the other 5, not so much.

3121 no contest. There is only 1 or 2 songs on there that I don't particulary care for, the rest of them I really enjoy.

Planet Earth has only 1 or 2 songs that I can listen to without the urge to hit skip. neutral

I'm sad...the album hasn't even been officially released in the US and I have no desire to even listen to it. I will buy it on my way home from work, but I seriously doubt I'll listen to it again anytime soon. I just find it terribly sappy and dull.

I'll continue waiting patiently for some New York concerts. shrug

Without question...

3121 is the superior album. His best in years. Even though it didn't break too much new ground, it's a rock-solid Prince album with songs that have energy and excite, whereas "Planet Earth" really lacks excitement for me...very bland sounding tunes...nothing very memorable.

3121 is better than PE.

Does PE have gems like The Dance, Black Sweat, Get On The Boat, and 3121?

I don't think PE is complete garbage now that I've given it a few more listens, but it doesn't sit as high as 3121 in my book.

the verdict is still out for me. I really like 3121 and really enjoy PE so far but its not fair to judge it completely yet since we have had over a year to digest 3121 and a couple weeks for PE (or 1 day for some)

3121 wins hands down because it sounds far more focused and it's consistent throughout. There were no duds or weak spots on that 46-minute release and Prince is just sounding modern, fun, and slick. I love every song on it! It was what I wanted Musicology to be!

Planet Earth. however, is flawed and lyrically weak in some spots. It just doesn't sound like something Prince would normally record and there's nothing quite memorable about it. PE is not a bad release, but he just needed a little more ambition and time. I'm just glad he got back to his rock roots...

Admittedly not having heard Planet Earth as of yet, at this point, I cannot believe it is more solid than 3121.That was Prince's all around best stuff/can sit and listen to the entire album straight through even now, in a long time.

3121 albeit biased.

I will post again once I actually have Planet Earth cool .

I am going to have to say 3121, only song I don't like on that is Beautiful, Loved & Blessed, and I enjoyed the original version/edit of The Dance.

Not sure what it is (and I am trying/keep listening) I really only enjoy 2 songs off of Planet Earth. Now that I have the CD I will keep it on rotation and I hope some of the other songs will come around. But for now 3121 is better for me.

3121 is a complete and utter pile of shit. A big fat steaming turd of a record. A monstrosity to all that is good and pure.

Planet Earth is (and I hate this phrase) definately a return to form.
