I love Prince´s music, and I love rap...good rap...I grew up listening to rap...but this fool Lil Wayne is not just a fucking fool, he´s also one of the worst commercially succesful rappers ever. His style is annoying and even makes me aggressive, I could beat the shit out of him for days just for his annoying rap flow alone. Anytime I hear his ugly voice as a fucking "featuring artist" on some song on the radio, I have to hurry up and turn the volume down, that´s how annoying he is. He can bitch about Prince as much as he wants but his "song" Diamonds and Girls, and I use the term song generously here, is a travesty.

And he doesn´t seem to have a clue about black music, let alone his roots, he is just coming across as a total dumbass and ignorant minstrel.

I agree highfive oh,and dont 4get hes booty-ugly 2 giggle but that has nothin 2 do with what he said or his music shrug

there is nothing rude or disrespectful about saying Prince isn't a great singer. not one thing. Prince doesn't have a great voice IMO, am I being rude or disrespectful? absolutely not. that was all that was said.

whether or not Lil' Wayne has a single cell of talent in his body is irrelevant to whether what he says is valid. that is where someone who depends on an ad hominem attack shows their ignorance, because they focus on the arguer not he argument.

what if I said Larry Bird couldn't jump to save his life, but he was one of the greatest basketball players ever. have I somehow been rude or disrespectful because I pointed out a flaw in his physical ability? no, not at all, because the point only emphasizes how great Larry Bird was despite his lack of jumping ability. so, when most singers depend on having great voices, if Prince canbe considered one of the best of all time despite a great voice, that isn't disrespectful at all, it is actually a bigger compliment to his abilities as a whole. but, no, you Prince fans can't see that because if there is one ounce of criticism of Prince, all heads must roll. that is ignorant.

He's probably talkin bout Prince's Tenor voice...
which is true, i've always thought prince had a horrible tenor voice which is funny, cause he has a great falsetto and a great deep voices
but his tenor always seemed overly nasal and somettimes stand out in a mix...

Problem is Prince is an incredible vocalist. He's an amazing vocal arranger, he has an unbelievable range and he can reproduce it time and time again live. So the idea that Prince can't sing is foolish. And when it comes from Lil Wayne, I mean Fuck Off basically.

What was rude and disrespectful was Li'l Wayne's delivery. "That n***a this, and that n***a that...." All that isn't necessary. If he has a point, then make it without sounding as ignorant as possible.

I still don't like YOUR indictment of Prince fans. Personally, I criticize him- when I think it's necessary. In this case, however, I'm not sure it is. Prince may not have the best voice out there- because if U read back, that was never my argument- but he's been able to hold his own.... FOR YEARS. SUCCESSFULLY.
Like I said- I got Li'l Wayne's point. I just don't like the way he came off like he had to say it as a diss.

Just like I don't like the way U had to make your point with a STRING of disses. U just went off on this name-calling jag, and then tried to justify it by calling everyone else ignorant! rolleyes

Wrong. Rick James said some horrible things about Prince for decades and I had absolutely no problem with Rick at all because he was a very talented artist just like Prince.

However, a no talent shit hopper that not only can't sing, but can't play any instruments, or make anything past a boring ass stripped down midtempo "song"....and then has the nerve to say anything negative about any artist, not just Prince...yeah, I have have a problem with that. Shit hop trash should never be in the "music business" anyway. If the shit they make is considered "poetry", then they need to go write some damn poetry books and let the musicians make the "music".

He basically tried to compare himself to Prince by suggesting that Prince is actually lacking in singing talent and only gets away with it because his voice is interesting, which is exactly the reason why Lil' Wayne is so popular. All of these wack artists today are only successful because of the image that goes along with the music. They make them so interesting (to some) that ppl disregard the fact that they are pretty much talentless, but still slightly entertaining. Even I've fallen for it on occasion. rolleyes

"Lil' Wayne" has struck a nerve....kind-of. "NO ONE" here is saying that "Prince" can sing like "Marvin Gaye" or "Luther Vandross", "DUMBASS"!!!! What they are saying is that "Lil Wayne", of all people, can not judge a guy's singing. Hell, he probably thinks that "Keyshia Cole" can sing. So, his opinion wouldn't happen to matter to me. He used to be a pretty good rapper. I think that his "Ghost-Writer" (Whomever that mysterious person may/might be) is mediocre at his/her skill and are making "Lil Wayne" fall off a little bit. Rhondab even looked down at that comment and she likes the kid's flow. This shows great imbecilicity on "Lil' Wayne's Part". Maybe if the guy could rephrase what he said like a mature, grown-ass man, then everyone wouldn't give two shits about how it was/is being worded. Ni**a this and ni**a that is a cop-out on holding an inteligent conversation or just adressing a situation from a third-person viewpoint like "Lil' Wayne" did. Prince may not be technically gift, but I love his vocals. That's objective
the majority of pop radio aren't great singers.

Put aside the use of the N word and the McDonalds comment. Saying someone can't sing and turning it into a compliment is kind of ass backwards. The whole thing is disrespectful

It's not just the comments about singing that trips me out, but a damn rapper couldn't play a damn instrument to save his life. Whether Prince has a voice or not, if "music" ever came back, a rapper would come far closer to McDonald's than Prince because they can't play a damn instrument. Since they are so good at pushing buttons on a computer to make their music, they should be real good at pushing the timer buttons on the french fry machines. lol

Whoa. That was English! eek

I think there was actually a compliment in there.

I think if um "lil' Wayne' listened to stuff like When Doves Cry and ERotic City -- which are both kick-ass songs ... one of the great distinctions about them is the vocal delivery. I've always appreciated Prince's unique voice.

Not every musical performer can fall back on such a signature... and fall back Prince does ... occasionally.

I'm blown away by people actually saying Prince can't sing! His voice is incredible and has been since his first album...all of the harmonies he does using only his own voice, and his range - amazing! We all know the techniques he's used to make his voice sound "different", i.e. Camille, but when it comes to just sittin at his piano and belting out a song - there's very few that could do it any better than Prince. And he sounds just as good, if not better, live! Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and yes there are many great singers out there other than him, but to say that Prince can't sing, i don't know, somethin has got to be wrong with your hearing.
