but what they really need to do is work together for major sets... each (well most) albums wirh alternats, out takes, and 12" versions and a LIVE CD from its tour and a DVD of the videos and some live stuff as well.... REALLY make it something worth having.

The fact that Prince can pull this album at this late stage is pretty interesting. Just goes to prove that Warner's really do need Prince's permission to re-release this stuff in re-mastered form, which has often been discussed here, otherwise surely they would have gone ahead with it? They've promised it to customers (amazon, etc) surely they would be more afraid of upsetting them rather than Prince at this point, if it was in their power.

Damn, Prince sure has got the power.

I am surprised that so many people were going to buy this. I remember when "the best of" was about to drop everybody (encluding Prince) was asking everyone not to buy it. Is this album different? Is P going to get more money or is he involved in some way?

well for one the VERY BEST of was just some of the same songs off the HITS 1 and 2.

this one had some remixes and it was assumed that it would lead to some re-mastered editions of some other WB albums.

but! one has to wonder if a re-master would re-set the clock for prince to get the masters back?

there was no incentive for fans to buy it. there was nothing new, nothing we didn't already have. this collection had remastered tracks and remixes that had never officially seen the light of day before. plus, prince's camp hasn't said a THING against it to the fans/public. of course, it looks like prince had it yanked, but he also seems very tight lipped about it.
