Now that everyone's shitting on Musicology...

I happen to have really liked Marrying Kind and If eye was the man in Ur Life.....

Best set he'd done in a while to me.
What'd you guys think???

I've come to appreciate any music that we get from Prince but Musicology was NOT that good to me. Just ok.

i don't particularly hate or love musicology. i think it's one of his most poorly designed albums ever, but as far as the music is concerned, it's okay. there's good stuff in there and lame stuff and all kinds of things in-between. i can listen to it all the way through without running for the skip button, though sometimes 'on the couch' gets on my nerves. if i wanna whine about a crappy prince album, this wouldn't be a title i'd choose. smile

Hey Cinjo wave

whats up SUPA!!!!

The piano in IIWTMIYLife reminds me of the Prince of Old...

touched

I actually made my father listen to it-- and though he was a fan back when P had a fro til when he was dressing in frilly frocks and what not, he hasn't felt any one of his albums in years....

ANd he liked it.

Hes a hard man to please musically, so that means a lot.

To me, the album was a 'meh' on the level of 'ewww' to 'psych-out'.
those songs especially.

I still don't think there is as strong pop song on "3121" as "If Eye Was The Man In U'R Life" is. It's nowhere nearly my favourite even on the "Musicology" album, but damn did people on the most part just blatantly sleep on it.

Both are great tracks...

But REFLECTION...that's the ONE on Musicology!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I agree they are two good songs and better than anything on 3121. I also dig the easy flow pop of What Do You Want Me Do.
No hard feelings.

"Musicology" had great moments too, songs like "A million Days", "Call my Name", "What do u want me 2 do" , "iiwtmiyl" and "reflection" are fantastic. The main issue i think a lot of people had was that the album sounded like Prince-lite, it just didnt hit hard enough. But its a great cd with some great songs on it and one sure-fire classic "Call My Name".

3121 is a far funkier, edgier, more energetic and youthful album and definitely better, kinda like comparing controversy to dirty mind, but in the end both cd's are great!
