Still I wont buy it because I owned most of the songs that already listed on the Ulimate Prince CD. Unless this cancellation might be because they want to do some revamping on the list. If they are planning to release the album with different remixes or rarest songs that I don't already have then I might buy it.

I was so excited to think i'd be buying 2 Prince albums this month - but that's changed completely! I was so keen for the Ultimate exactly how it was - looked gr8 and although i have almost the entire track list from back in the day, it was the fact that it was REMASTERED that had me sold. It looked like the start of his old stuff getting to see the light of day remastered and hench sounding so much better - but it looks like he's fucked that for the fans well and truely now, the prick!
Oh well, we can be almost certain it'll get leaked online and he'll be the one out of pocket - FUCK HIM - if that's the only option, that's the only option

Why compete with Prince's new cd?
Why not wait a few months until he is in the middle of a tour & release it then - the tour will be promo for the Ultimate Prince & it doesn't cost WB a cent. Releasing Ultimate Prince & 3121 so closely only confuses people. It never made sense to release them both at once. I just hope it isn't totally cancelled.

Even if it was Prince who was behind pulling Ultimate at the 11th hour (and we don't know that for sure, do we?)... it is entirely right to do that. Prince and Universal have gone to the trouble and expense of promoting 3121 for release this month... why on earth would they want another Prince record hitting the market at the same time? Answer: they wouldn't. It could only damage sales of 3121 and confuse consumers.

It makes sense to postpone Ultimate. It'll get a release eventually, at a more sensible time - so what is the fucking hurry to hear some old remixes? Some people need to get things in perspective. There's a new goddamn Prince album out this month! How great is that?

well, it's a disappointment, but there's this little album called 3121 coming out soon that might tide us over.

I can't say I'm surprised. I was thinking something would happen sooner or later. Either way, I was actually looking forward to grabbing it for the remastered versions.

Oh, well...

Two weeks 'til 3121.

I was sort of excited for this--considering I don't have all the 12" versions. Dammit! Doesn't Prince know we'll buy almost ANYTHING he puts out? (I personally have drawn the line at 1999 TNM but anyway...)

Please Please Please let this be released one day and by one day I mean within the next few months.

To me, it was always obvious that releasing the Ultimate cds at around the same time as 3121 would only hurt sales of 3121 at best. So I was surprised Prince as cool with it coming out so near, since he must have know, having made suggestions about the tracklisting and giving permission for the remastering. So it can't have been pulled because of Prince suddenly realising the release dates clashed.

I also think that the idea Warners/Rhino pulled it at the last minute is completely illogical - they seemed happy enough to start shipping it out. I think people who think they have decided to change the tracklisting again, at the last minute, are really reaching for straws simply because they don't like the tracklisting.

I really get the impression that Prince has yanked them around on this one, he is after all a very changeable person.
