New topic Printable It's cool he is going to play on the show again. What would be funny... if they started with the Prince Show & he appears instead of Fred. I do not expect him to do any skits. That would not only be funny that would be hilarious. | |

Well, Steve Martin would not play guitar, he plays banjo (and quite well from what I've heard).
Its ok to hope there is a 'Prince Show'! Love wins. (Seen on bumpersticker) | |

Prince cancelled an appearance since 89 - David Spade tried to smear Prince with some kind of weird message to Prince on the show that Prince cancelled. Real hatefull. I have disliked David Spade ever since. Rock On Prince ! David Spade is an unfunny prick anyway Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3 | |

Hey, I work for an NBC affilaite in Ohio and this news item on an internal NBC Web site makes it even more official.
STEVE MARTIN AND PRINCE ON SNL Published: January 19, 2006 SUPERSTARS ARE FRONT AND CENTER IN FEBRUARY ON NBC'S "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" Prolific SNL Host Steve Martin Returns, Extends Record, Joined By Musical Guest Prince NEW YORK -- January 19, 2006 -- NBC's "Saturday Night Live" pulls out the stops on its sole February broadcast with two legendary performers -- Steve Martin and Prince (LIVE, February 4, 11:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.). Steve Martin returns to Studio 8H for his record-solidifying 14th hosting appearance. The award-winning actor, comedian, author, playwright and producer's hosting stints have left an indelible impact on SNL's 30-year history. With recurring characters like as the "Wild and Crazy" Czech Festrunk brothers, each Steve Martin-hosted show is an event unto itself. Martin is set to take on the role of Inspector Clouseau in "The Pink Panther" opposite Kevin Kline and Beyonce Knowles. With scores of film roles to his credit, Martin has most recently been seen in "Shopgirl" (which he adapted from his novella) and the hits "Cheaper By The Dozen" and "Bringing Down the House." Martin starred in such comedy classics as "The Jerk," "All of Me" "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" "Father of the Bride," "Parenthood" and "Planes, Trains and Automobiles." Martin scripted and starred in the hit acclaimed comedies "Three Amigos," "Roxanne," "L.A. Story" and "Bowfinger," as well as in the dramas "Grand Canyon" and "The Spanish Prisoner." Martin has won Grammys for his comedy records as well as for his banjo work on Earl Scruggs' 75th Anniversary album. He has won raves for his essays in The New Yorker, plays "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" as well as his books "Shopgirl" and "The Pleasure of My Company." Martin is joined by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and musical superstar - Prince. Arguably one of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the 20th century, Prince makes his first appearance on the show since 1981. Fresh off his double Grammy Award-winning release "Musicology" and his top-grossing tour, Prince is back with an eagerly anticipated album "3121" whose first single "Te Amo Corazon" made a major video debut in December. Always on the cutting edge of music and the music business -- from his rare triple-threat in "Purple Rain" which was the No. 1 movie, album and single simultaneously in 1984 (winning an Oscar(r) for Best Score as well) to some of his seminal albums, "Sign O'The Times," "Around the World in a Day" and "Diamonds and Pearls" -- he has sold over 60 million records and was at the forefront of web-based music distribution with his NPG Music club. # # # | |

Whatever he performs, I hope he does an unforgettable performance, specially on guitar. I always have the feeling that, on TV shows, he doesn´t show his potential as an instrumentalist. | |

----- What are you basing this on. P puts out a ballad and all of sudden he can't funk anymore. What was he doing in 2004. The foxtrot. | |

I second that motion. Prince is the consummate performer. Why do you think his Musicology tour was so successful? Even though people wont' necessarily buy his albums, everybody scrambles to see him onstage. The dude is awesome. My friend Caridad Tamayo must be overjoyed right now. She's the biggest Prince fan in the Bronx.
I just hope Prince goes through with it. And I hope SNL doesn't pull anything stupid.... | |

I wish this were true I was not digging "Musicology" on Leno - that shit fell flat, sorry to say And I know everyone was all nuts about the Grammy's but that shit was bunk too AND whatever he got an award for last - Essence or NAACP or whatever that was. WEAK! Y'all know I ain't lyin'. I'm his bottom bitch, I would NOT front on my man! But I really, REALLY want my ass kicked, like he did @ RRHOF Show up P, SHOW UP | |

- Oh yes, he is soooo old....hahaha....so, you are considering that recent songs like ´Musicology´, ´Illusion, Coma...´, ´If I was the man in your life´, ´Family Name´ and ´Everlasting Now´ are ballads? Not to mention several songs on the Musicology tour, that were very funky. | |

As much as I enjoyed the Grammys (mainly because of the ´comeback´ thing, because the show itself was a little ´Vegas´), I would say that the only true kick ass performance was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. THIS one was Prince at his best. I bet several ´rockers´ on the crowd were impressed and surprised. [Edited 1/20/06 5:10am] | |

Well, he doesn't exactly have a kick-ass punkfunk song like "Party Up" in his more recent songbook... He'll probably just do a medley of "Let's Go Crazy", "Te Amo Corazon" and "Kiss" then, coupled with a horn section and a quest appearance by Christina Aquilera (or any Smackdown wrestler). | |
