People went for the classics, not for anything he's done in the past 10 years. The new music itself didn't get any real buzz. And how many people went to see the Rolling Stones for "Voodoo Lounge" songs or whatever? They're laughing all the way to thier mansions on one of their islands. And since when is it a crime to market your tour? It's practically a tradition at this point for veteran acts to market a tour as a farewell or goodbye of some sort. Bowie stopped playing the hits in '89. Yeah, right. And much to his credit, Prince doesn't whore himself to Madison Avenue. No Visa or Budweiser commercials that double as a concert commercial. Good Points...eugnj420!! [Edited 2/13/05 20:36pm]

He was ignored for the Grammys since 1986, right? It's truly pimp-style to finally win one and not even show up! That's "Movie Star" style right there. -Lou LOL...I love it... I COMPLETELY agree.... 2 funny....Although I cant deny that it would have been nice to see him accept...But seriously...pimped-out movie star...

So it appears that it's over. I'm still ecstatic that Prince won 2 Grammy's. This is beyond awesome. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

1 MO thang. The Man doesnt need to show up to accept an award. Musicology is over and he has moved on. That is pippin em for real. That is soooo funny and like classic Prince. He doesnt care about these things people. And to think he needs the validation of an award for his art is ludicrous. He did his thing. He had the biggest tour, made the most money, got loads of applause at award shows that he wasnt even nominated for.

Okay guys...here's the deal....can you be happy for the man without shitting on other artists? Don't get it twisted...I love shitting on say Jennifer Lopez's lack of vocal talent (She shouldn't sing in any language)..But damn, you guys seem obsessed with killing the Usher's of the world... Maybe people are right...maybe Prince fans are the worst music snobs on the fucking planet...I'm happy that our boy won....but you guys are really showing your age (I'm 33 years old myself)...There are certain artists that absolutely have no talent (The Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson's of the world) But you can't lump everyone in that category...I genuinly thought that the shit dude did with the Neptune's ("You Don't Have To Call") three or four years ago was alright...but the new shit is on some kiddie shit...but guess what? It's not for me...it's for the kids....So you think Usher sucks...okay....you think hip hop is noise....that's cool...But as a child of hip-hop (I was lucky enough to see every hip hop tour in the '80s from The Fresh Fest to Run DMC's Raising Hell tour) and a old school Prince fan, I understand that today's music scene is not for us...I understand why my mother called Public Enemy's "Rebel Without A Pause" noise when i was blasting it from my room...I understand why some of the elder jazz fans in my family looked down on Prince during the 1999-Purple Rain era.....You cat's need to go to an old folks home and listen to Musicology for the rest of your lives (LOL)....But really....understand that Prince had his time and will forever be one of the immortals...whatever he get's now is all gravy.... [Edited 2/13/05 20:15pm] Thanks! Some people around here better learn to never question me! I think it's funny that "Kiss" won for best group performance -- I mean, who else is on that track except Prince? I think only Mazarati for back-up vocals, and they didn't even get credit from the Grammy's -- the rest of Prince's band did! Anyway, 'bout time Prince gets some more Grammy's. So does this mean this last year really was an official comeback year for the man?

I understand the whole Prince is a Pimp thing and that he shouldn't have been at the awards show to accept. But at the root of it, it's just showing respect to the people who are giving U the light of day. Least he can do is show up and say hi. I think it's kind of rude, but hey, it's Prince's life, not mine.

EvilWhiteMale said: eugnj420 said: "Most of the tour sucked?" See, there's where you lose all credibility. I went four nights with NPGMC seats, and had a blast. The first two nights were mind-blowing. I have no idea what part of the tour you felt didn't suck since most of the shows were basically the same, but if you didn't go, or if you went and had a lousy time, than you suck. You suck because you cannot apreciate that a 46 year old man could turn it out like that in arenas every night for two and a half hours and over six months, with a show full of high energy and great music. You really are just a joyless sourpuss. The love for me here tonight is overwhelming. I did see the show, and I felt it was pretty damn lame. I've seen him perform well, and then I saw that. I ain't down with that "fun for the whole family bullshit." The only real high point was when he played Bambi. Damn near everything else was watered down and "jazzified." Now I will say that his RRHOF after show was the bomb. It was way better than the big tour shows. So I'm not just pissing on everything. M'kay? Evil: Legs does feel what your saying. Since Prince has went through his spritual rebirth, a great deal of his most music on recent CD's and tours has become watered down jazzified and less rock and less funkedified and not up to par like it used to be. Yes, I would agree with you that the RNHF performance was up to his old standards which was cool. However, I am glad to see that he kick that old dried up trick ass Madonna in tourand album sales though. [Edited 2/13/05 21:45pm]

i like the fact that prince wone two grammys. his newer music is much better than his old stuff. his new songs are much better than the old ones. musicology is a really good album once you sit down and really listen to it. news is way out there, but the song "east" is almost hypnotic. the rainbow children is a grooving song. i like the new prince, more mature and not a cliche of himself. i like the old stuff too, and i still want to hear it live from time to time. i can't wait for the next album to come out.
