Sure I can. Musicology sucked, every TV appearence except the RRHOF sucked, most of the tour sucked, and Prince has been sucking bad for years in general. A few good moments, yes, but still.....sux.

Hmmm, "most of the tour sucked", huh?

Either you went to "most of the tour" or bought bootlegs of the shows, and are a HUGE hypocrite...
OR
you are simply taking out of your ass.

I say "B"!!!

Cost of Prince ticket: $35.00
Cost of Musicology: Free with ticket
Watching desperate hater clinging to credibility with mornic claims: Priceless.

I vote for B also!! lol

Yeah, I think he won the ones he deserved and didn't win the ones he didn't. I bet Alicia Keys was like, " omfg , I just fucking beat Prince, wtf?" lol

I do wonder why he wasn't there. He's generally not in the "too good to accept an award" snootypants catagory. Sick? neutral

I think Rainbow children is way better than Musicology where he is repeating himself and not creating any new sound. It's just that today the music is so non-inspirational and boring that a bit of funk & harmony is like a gift from the sky. That's what he's got but still... we've heard that all before. I was dissapointed when I heard Musicology..

No! Prince never won a Grammy for the song Kiss. Prince never won a Grammy in the 1986 or 1987 for Kiss or anything in 1986 or 1987.
In January 27, 1986 at the American Music Awards Prince presented an award in the best pop-rock category for favourite single, Huey Lewis won.

No you are wrong. in 1987 prince & the revolution won best r&B group for kiss. he did win, just check his grammy records

Agree!
I like Mucicology, but I really dig the Rainbow Children. It's like an adventure listening to the Rainbow Children.
Musicology has a few highlights and a few dissapointing songs on it.
And the highlights are when you get the feeling of hearing 'the old Prince' again.
On the other hand, you can't creating new sounds over and over again. I will be happy with great songs (and it's OK if they will sound as in the old days).

Congrats, Prince...

But shows a lot that a just-above-average song (at least measured by Prince's standards) such as Call My Name wins a Grammy!!!

maybe prince was a bit sheepish about being present to possibly accept awards for what constituted as a musical "victory lap". Musicology has moments but it wasnt what we've come to expect from prince, it was a concession in order to capitalize from being inducted in RRHOF. my 15 yr. old daughter was blown away by SOTT and even in her relative youth she can tell the difference. 2004 meant a lot to prince, emotionally. There was a lot of confirmation which to any human being (yes he is human) can fuel a true resurgence. Many rumors are leaking regarding him being in LA and recording with old friends and he probably went to the movie shit because he is working on ...movie shit. Dont worry, 2004 served it's purpose, the reason why he wasnt at the grammy's is because he's in the fuckin lab. As a prince "fam" we should be encouraged. Prince is like awwwww shit, i got my paper, my name is in stone, and i'm still loved, i'm about to really show my ass. The next album will not outsell musicology but for critics and real prince heads it will be a return to the creative genuis that defined him at his peak.

1 MO thang. The Man doesnt need to show up to accept an award. Musicology is over and he has moved on. That is pippin em for real. That is soooo funny and like classic Prince. He doesnt care about these things people. And to think he needs the validation of an award for his art is ludicrous. He did his thing. He had the biggest tour, made the most money, got loads of applause at award shows that he wasnt even nominated for.

I don't wanna be a poet
'Cuz I don't wanna blow it
I don't care 2 win awards
All I wanna do is dance
Play music sex romance
And try my best 2 never get bored...DMSR '82

Sigh...must fans continually trot out this quote from over 20 years ago whenever Prince is nominated for an award or appears/doesn't appear at an award show?! He has said since then that the only reason he said that was because he wasn't up for any awards at the time, so it was an easy statement to make. Once he got nominated, ya better believe his little ass cared!! Besides, who on earth would expect a thought from 23 years ago to still prevail today. Minds can change, people. And we're dealing with Prince here, the CEO & Founder of Mind Flip-Flop, Inc.

Snap

Give us Gemini's a break, dude! lol

Seems to me that Prince does think certain awards are pretty cool -- like the 1990 AMAs and the 2004 RRHOF. Plus, he's been to plenty an award show. Heck, he was even at the Grammy's in early '84 because of a couple nominations for his 1999 album, the same album that says he don't care to win awards.

I can only think that Prince not turning up was a snub to the music industry - kind of, well I didn't play your game and I succeeded, I ain't playing your game now either.

I thought Prince might scrape one grammy, but never 2. That's so cool, can't help thinking that his many years in the business helped, like what happened with Santana a few years back. Usher, you still got a long way 2 go!

The Grammies are on ITV2 tonight (Monday) though I guess it will be an edited version? If you haven't got that channel, you could pop out and buy a Freeview box for £40 or so!

Let me start by saying that I'm glad his music was recognized..regardless of who he beat to do it..I'm not a fan of Usher, but it seems like some folks are happier about him losing than they are about P winning....
To the earlier comment about the Musicology tour only being successful because of marketing...last time playing the hits...Thats a load..this was his most accessible tour since Purple Rain..he played more venues, smaller venues...he simply made it easier for the masses to see him...most people I talked to at the shows even commented how they hoped he played his old stuff...they had no idea how the show was marketed...

I wouldn't be surprised if Prince's awards do not feature in the program.

Apparently there are 107 awards in total and Prince's wins are not in key categories.

None of the news media I have come across so far, tv or web, has even mentioned Prince winning, but they have managed to mention Rod Stewart winning his first ever award for 'American Songbook III'. My dad has those 3 CDs, I don't see what's so different between the third one and the first two. It is like, the first one they didn't think would be so successful, the second one they thought he was just cashing in on the idea, the third one it was a case of, well, it's around to stay, we better acknowledge it!
