GOLD "ALL THAT GLITTERS" AIN'T GOLD by MR. PRINCE ROGERS NELSON

I have to say one thing...
The GUITAR SOLO in "GOLD" is absolutely the most AMAZING SOLO that I seriously have ever heard in my lifetime...

This GUITAR SOLO and SONG is simply... escavating in the mind, heart and spirit.

GOLD "All that glitter's ain't gold, but the alchemy that comes from this song IS".

with respect,
SingMia

Question

I love GOLD. 1 of my favs

There's a mountain and it's mighty high
U cannot see the top unless U fly
And there's a molehill of proven ground
There ain't no where 2 go if U hang around

Everybody wants 2 sell what's already been sold
Everybody wants 2 tell what's already been told
What's the use of money if U ain't gonna break the mold?
Even at the center of fire there is cold
All that glitters ain't gold
All that glitters ain't gold, mmm

There's an ocean of despair
There are people livin' there
They're unhappy each and every day
But hell is not fashion so what U tryin' 2 say?

Everybody wants 2 sell what's already been sold
Everybody wants 2 tell what's already been told
What's the use of money if U ain't gonna break the mold?
Even at the center of fire there is cold
All that glitters ain't gold, no no
All that glitters ain't gold, no no

There's a lady, 99 years old
If she led a good life, heaven takes her soul
Now that's a theory and if U don't wanna know
Step aside and make a way 4 those who want 2 go

Everybody wants 2 sell what's already been sold (Sold)
Everybody wants 2 tell what's already been told (Told)
What's the use of bein' young if U ain't gonna get old? (Old)
Even at the center of fire there is cold (Cold)
All that glitters (glitters) ain't gold, no no no no no
All that glitters ain't gold
Alright

All that glitters, all that glitters, all that glitters.. ain't gold

yes the guitar solo is awesome. Love this CD.CD

Another classic rose

I would love to hear a stripped down "revisited" version of this song with the current NPG.
Even though I feel that certain songs of the prince era are too connected with the old NPG lineup, this songs definitely should be on the playlist again.
I heard this one live during the ´95 tour and it was great, but somehow I think it would sound even better today....
I´ve never heard the rawer, unpolished version that´s circulating....
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Gold is one of my favourite songs of all time.

To me it symbolizes the mature acceptance of the uncontrollable, the unpredictable; the reality of empty promises. P sounds like he's embracing the learning experience as a spiritual rebirth and re-declaring his identity with fearless assertiveness. That soaring guitar solo sounds like the celebration of the joy that comes from the reckless abandon of one's conscious self and the realization of a higher form of existence.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

GOLD

It's like the alchemy of every problem you ever had... The Gold the spiritual essence given by the father to let you know you are the purest GOLD ever created in the hands of his KISS. GOLD...the loving father above who extends his hand thru humankind in talent to share so that your problems can be transmuted from hate to love and PEACE forevermore...

GOLD "all that glitters ain't gold... BUT HEAVEN is GOLD in store for you all."

I hope somebody isn't mad that I just felt i had to share this. I ride "NO" coattails. I only follow what brings light to the heart. First is the Kingdom of GOD there is GOLD.

I don't know why but this song has SOMETHING TO SAY TO THE WORLD "NOW"big time.
Every seed PLANTED FINALLY BLOOMS, so does every song written that has not been heard yet, becuz it took a while for the SUNSHINE to hit IT.

GODBLISS

I actually rather listen 2 this than Purple Rain over an over again. Gold was a very good closer to Gold Experience. I heard it played many on the radio at the time...still in Junior High.

Still in Junior High (huh). I guess that makes me old. Well I can say that the first time I heard the song, I was at one of his performance parties. Plus the making of the Gold Experience. What a wonderful Experience. Off the chain. biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

heart Gold! It's a gorgeous, well-written song with good lyrics and an incredible guitar solo!

But the video? It's okay, but this has gotta be the skinniest Prince ever was! The guitar looked like it weighed more than he did! I'd say he can't have been much more than 90 pounds... confused
