June 1984, Prince went to see Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemmons on the Born In The USA tour at the St. Paul Civic Center. Prince was thinking about adding horns to his music. Stevie Ray Vaughan was seated next to and ignored by Prince when he tried to introduce himself at the concert.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Joseph Jackson doesn't like him. When Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis met him before producing Janet Jackson for the first time, he told them he didn't like Prince and they had better not make his daughter sound like him. Of course, "Control" sounds just like Prince and made her a much bigger star than she already was.

Who's Lita Ford?

Lita Ford was the guitarist for the teenage girl band, The Runaways back in the 70s--Joan Jett was also a member. As a solo artist, Lita was the first lady of hair metal in the 80s. Her biggest hits were "Close My Eyes Forever" (with Ozzy Osbourne) and "Kiss Me Deadly".

After Michael Jackson attended a special screening of Purple Rain, he said "The Music was okey I guess. I dont like Prince. He looks mean. I dont like the way he treats women. He reminds me of some of my relatives, and he cant act."

something tells me with the Prince influence in NIN's music that Trent doesn't bear a grudge.

Trent told a story of how they were walking past each other in a hallway and Trent said hi, and Prince snubbed him and kept walking. Trent mentioned it in an interview and said "I don't care who you are, no one should treat ppl like that."
[Edited 2/3/05 10:02am]

What was really messed up about that incident was that Prince (or his people) had contacted Trent first to remix "Loose!" Trent finally had a chance to talk to him about it and Prince ignores him.

oh god come on! the whole michael-prince rivalry thing is PLAYED OUT. i'm sure they both respect each other.

I do remember Prince being offended that Mj wanted him to participate in Bad. Something about the intro lyrics. It was on an interview with prince on VH1 some years ago. I also heard prince made a pass at LaToya when he went to dinner at the Jackson house that MJ didn't like.

Sepember 1990 after the Nude tour Prince met Sinead O'Conner at his Beverly Hills home. Sinead didnt fit Prince's vision of women, epitomised by the lingerie wearing Apollonia 6. Prince didnt like Sinead's outspoken feminist and political views. Sinead O'Connor told the Irish music magazine Hotpress that "Prince told me to wear a dress and stop swearing. He starting talking like Frank Sinatra saying he was going to kick my ass. He was laughing and saying that my mouth got me into trouble again. When I tried to leave he left me strand at 5:30 a.m. without a ride back to my hotel room. I think I fucking saved his ass by doing that song. I will never sing that song again. That incident totally spoiled that song for me."
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Back in the 80s right around Purple Rain she pulled out a poster of Prince at one of her concerts & she started making fun of him questioning his manhood.

January 30th 1995, the American Music Awards closed with a 10th-year anniversary performance of "We Are The World". He was on stage with everyone, but did not sing the song, instead just stood there with his tootsie pop. He sould next to Quincy Jones, the producer of "We Are The World", Quincy Jones held his microphone up to Prince for him to sing, Prince held his tootsie pop up to Quincy Jones, when Quincy went for it, Prince quickly took it away. Afterwards Quincy Jones said to Prince "You may have changed your name, but as fare as I'm concerned your still a prick."
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

yeah I know but that was back in the 90s when Prince was more of a cunt. He's a happier man now....I doubt Trent hates him completely. To paraphrase someone else, maybe he just doesn't like certain aspects of Prince's personality....and as fans, I think a lot of us have been through that from time to time anyway. We still love the guy regardless.

He gets on everyone's case at some point. He's really a big Prince fan. He once said the best song ever from the last 25 years was "Purple Rain". He said on another occasion that Prince was one of the best guitarists he's ever heard.

What is this about Rick James being jealous of Prince? I'm not saying there was never any jealousy on Rick's part of P's phenomenal success and career, particularly when P started to overshadow him. I always thought Prince got at least SOME of his funk inspiration from Rick. Wasn't Rick here first? Didn't our man, at the start of his career, open a few dates for the Superfreak?

Someone clarify please.

When I stated that Rick was "jealous" of Prince, I was speaking from my own point of view. Rick seemed to bring up Prince in every interview. It just seemed to me that he was at least frustrated and resentful of Prince. Yes, Prince certainly did respect Rick for his contribution to funk and yes, he did open for Rick on a couple of shows in the early days, to which fans LOVED Prince. Perhaps Rick felt that P stole some of his thunder. Rick will always be well respected. He is truly one of the masters of modern funk. And like I said, I think he at least respected Prince as a musician in the latter years of his life and P actually paid homage to him after he passed away. At one of the shows here in D.C., Prince broke out with the bass line to "Give It To Me Baby." So perhaps there was a mutual respect at the very least...

Is it a rumor or did P say Bad cause there wasn't enough room for terrible. Mj and P are cool with each other. u guys know about the time mike went to paisley and they played ping pong...

P can't act that well, Morris day was the best actor in that movie.
P has acted like a dick around people. Keith probably resents him after they toured together.

Did some one say they didn't know who fucking Morrissey was? That morose fuck makes P look like a girl scout.... and does elton like anyone.

Ask Mary J. about Chaka
Mary, is Chaka on the radio?
No!

I've listened to Mary's last couple songs, and she's singing really hard with her voice, almost like she's lost the ability to control her own timbre. It's kind of painful, like when Britney Spears had all those dancers dance so hyper around her in that song Sometimes. It just doesn't fit.
