If u havent heard some of the music offered and want to hear it = Buy it

If u have heard all of the music and don't want it on CD and with proper packaging = Don't buy it

Props 2 Prince for listening 2 fans who wanted previous year's music 2 b made available. We all know how disinterested he becomes in previous projects/music.

For some fans this will not b 4 them as they already have it.

He cannot please all of the ppl all of the time. Thats impossible.

Whatever he does in some ppls eyes, especially on here, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

On one hand it seems unfair to make us pay TWICE for what we already have but on the other the bootleggers are selling sets of the downloads for c£25.00 per cd. I'd rather give my £ to Prince in this case.

True, but I think almost everyone already has most of these. I hope he includes a few bonus tracks.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? Actually, he's just dumb. The ONLY people who would spring for this drivel are the people who have already done so. So many of you probably thought you were getting something sooo unique and interesting in year one and year two of the club, right? "Xclusive" downloads." "Rare "new" Prince music sent straight 2 ur hard drive "and all of that nonsense? So now he's going to charge those same people AGAIN for the same music on CD and you're applauding him for it? Why not just spread your bumcheeks and say "Come and take me Prince and I'll smile through it all?"

It would be very hard for you to convince anyone that the membership in Prince's club has done anything but decrease since it began. With the brief exception of the number of fans who joined at the beginning of year two when the club announced (and botched) their switch to CDs and had some tour perks, this club has continued to lose membership. Did you ever wonder why the cost of membership had gone down so much? No, it wasn't because 1/4th of the year had already passed by the time the club had started. Then it would have cost $75 to join, going by his previous pricing. It was because Prince was struggling to hold on to the few remaining club members he had left. And apparently, because of the abundant lack of content and benefits of joining. And among those "club benefits?" You actually pay for the "privilege" to purchase his music and then you pay to purchase his music. Where do I sign up for that wonderful opportunity? I can't believe there are still people out there who lap this stuff up like it's rainbow juice or something.

You say "if you haven't heard some of the music offered and want to hear it, buy it and if you have heard all of the music don't buy it." Why is it all or nothing with people like you and Prince? Would it not make infinitely more sense to release 7 individual CDs that people can pick and choose from? Is that so hard to grasp? Instead, Prince is forcing his few remaining fans, some of whom may have never received CNOTE or some other music they were entitled to the first time around because of one of the club's various and sundry errors to buy a massive (and very likely costly) collection of material, the vast majority of which they've heard before? Princely greed and business sense at its best!

No, it is NOT unfair. You DON'T have to if you DON'T want to and a lot of people have been begging for those tracks on CD.

Then why not release 7 individual CDs so people can pick and choose and avoid duplicating previous purchases or downloads, rather than forcing faithful obsessives such as yourself to buy all or nothing? That is indeed unfair. Your approach is no different from the idiots who spout off "If you don't like what the club did to you don't join" - hindsight is 20/20. Do you think the members who have been screwed over would have joined in the first place if they had known that was their fate? Don't kid yourself. This approach is very much unfair, and typical of Prince. What would have been good, and infinitely more applauded by even types like you, would be giving members the choice of what to buy rather than lumping it altogether. Since Prince has lately taken on a fondness for "bootleg quality" material, as was evident in the release of that crap quality DVD, why doesn't he follow suit of his some of his audio bootleggers, who release his work in volumes, such as the NPGTV series? A great colletion of the audio tracks of Prince's tv appearance and you don't have to buy them all if you don't want to. At least the booleggers give you a choice in the matter. Are you saying choice is a bad thing?

Yeah yes

A lot of people have been asking for this and now we are getting what we have asked for. You can't ask for much more in one year. A new CD, DVD, concert and now a 7 CD set that a lot of us have asked for.

yes yes yes yes yes

It's just that everytime we are able to buy something, for some it's not good enough.
BTW, we all know what a pain in the ass it can be to order (and get) things from the Club, if they released the 7 CD individually, I guess it would mean much more work, longer waits, higher individual prices etc.

And choice of course isn't a bad thing. And you can choose not to buy this one.
It depends on the price, but I think the package looks rather good... The War on CD? Couldn't get that for a long time. And C-NOTE in CD quality and with art work? Nice.

I agree... I might actually buy this. Mainly because I never joined the NPGMC in year 1 (but got all the mp3s off Napster/etc), so I feel like I saved $100 on that one.
I have almost 2000 mp3s on my HD, but I still prefer a CD with quality artwork over anything else, so I might do the deal.
The only thing that bothers me is that he plans on releasing ONA Piano CD again - I've already got that twice, dammit! smile

Has anyone noticed that there's no way you could fit all the first year NPGMC audio shows on 2 CDs? There were 11 shows not including the Rainbow Children download, one show was almost entirely a mix of old Prince songs, that still leaves almost 10 hours of shows to fit on 2 or 3 cds? No way. And that doesn't include the bonus download tracks.

So the only way this could work is if it was just the bonus downloads over 2 cds plus the Glam Slam mix which was I believe just one of the audio shows played in the Reflection room of the club.

Or an edit down of the best bits from the first year over 2 cds.

Anyway, I won't believe this until there's official confirmation, it just sounds like a bootleggers compilation to me.

Oh, just found out it is official. Doh!

Yeah I don't think the audio shows are going to be featured in the collection.

When people were posting throughout the UTELLUS forums at the NPGMC site, most people were asking for the songs that were released, especially the stuff from the Hit-n-Run singles (Peace, Supercute, Daisy Chain, Gamillah, Underneath the Cream) and the High stuff (High, When I Lay My Hands On You, Judas Smile, etc.).

This package appears to be a direct response to the requests of the members at the site for not only that material, but the Xpectation, CNOTE stuff, and The War on CD.

Your contention would make sense if that was Prince's plan all along. However it is MUCH MORE LIKELY that he never intended to release this music on CD, until reading the number of posts from NPGMC members requesting this material.

The configuration of the collection, even the naming of "CNOTE," reflects that it is a direct response to member requests, not part of some sinister plan hatched long ago to scheme money out of people.

Another hole in your assertion is that this all on a optional basis. No one is getting this in return for money they have already paid. It's there for those who want to get it. Those who don't want to have to go to ebay and pay over $250 for the Hit and Run singles, or over $300 for The War, or $50 for Xpectation.

If Prince really wanted to suprise us all and sell a 7 cd box set, then why not pick 7 soundboard shows from the past and release them.

Can you imagine :

82-83 1999 tour
84-85 purple rain
86 parade
87 sott
88 lovsexy
90 nude tour
92 D & P tour

This would be awesome and would sell out fast.

I'm not sure about all this, but releasing that piano album yet another time... hmmm... and the War... C-Note... is this also a part of his "i'm gonna retire all of my old hits after this coming tour" idea?

Oh and btw, I thought Prince was going 2 release a lot of NEW MUSIC after leaving WB... not re-releasing stuff all his major fans (cuz let's face it, if u don't have The War / C-Note by now, ur just not purple phreaky nuff) already have, sometimes even twice ...

And oh, im no NPGMC member, tho I convinced my cousin 2 join, so U could say im a NPGMC Guest... biggrin

I'd recommend everyone 2 be a Guest also...

until he starts touring in Europe & USA at least wink

anyhow... why not release a 7 CD set with all new music? The Vault can't be empty, rite?!
One day soon EVERYONE's dayum Fonky!

So wait...has this been confirmed by the club? What details are definite at this point? If this is true, I'm fucking excited...I was just thinking last night how great it would be to finally have the Year One download tracks on an actual CD...and if you ask me, there are worse Prince albums than ONA (piano) to have three copies of. C-NOTE too?? This seems too good to be true...there's gotta be a catch! wink

Hi theblueangel, long time no see. Yeah its "confirmed" in the form of a Flash pop-up (like the one for NEWS) when you login to the site. The only details definite are that its a 7 CD package. No tracklists. No release date, just Coming Soon to a Music Club near you.
