Hear Hear that biscuit fellow!

I have some of this stuff on disc and some on download - but a lot I could never get hold of and I am glad that I have the chance to do so now.

Saying that it is 7CDs is like complaining that I have already bought the single so I won't buy the album.

If you don't want it, don't buy it. It's your choice.

Due out at the end of November, apparently. $50.00 US retail, $20 US postage and packing to Europe.

I don't know where frankjotzo got this info from but there has been no price announced on NPGMC yet.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

So wait...has this been confirmed by the club? What details are definite at this point? If this is true, I'm fucking excited...I was just thinking last night how great it would be to finally have the Year One download tracks on an actual CD...and if you ask me, there are worse Prince albums than ONA (piano) to have three copies of. C-NOTE too?? This seems too good to be true...there's gotta be a catch! wink

Yep. I'm right with blue. Of course I am wink!

So for sure I'm not an NPGMC fan/follower... BUT it's simply great to get the download tracks in *CD* quality. 256 kbps compared to 1411 kbps differs a LOT.

On the other hand, hell yeah, I got The War & ONA Piano. Doesn't matter. I've got that many CDs in multiple editions (due to an infectious collecting addiction some years ago) - 2 CDs? Why not. Maybe they even differ just slightly from the originals in packaging so the originals will still be collector's items.

And, btw, I have to confess, I was one of the people asking for a re-release. Mea culpa. wink

Well, now I'm asking myself... which version of Copenhagen we will see: edited vs. unedited?

Yes, I since discovered that. smile

But it was explained in a different source that it was for clubs complainers who wanted more for their $100 (century note / C-note).

Double meaning. Oooo!!!

Irrespective of what all you naysayers think (and I've been a big critic of the current incarnation of NPGMC), I'm in favour of the forthcoming collection.

Yes, many of us have got all or a good deal of this stuff already, BUT we'll have a chance to have all those original downloads in upgraded sound and, you never know, the midget might even throw in the odd bonus track.

Props 2 Prince for listening 2 fans who wanted previous year's music 2 b made available. We all know how disinterested he becomes in previous projects/music.

For some fans this will not b 4 them as they already have it.

He cannot please all of the ppl all of the time. Thats impossible.

Whatever he does in some ppls eyes, especially on here, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? Actually, he's just dumb. The ONLY people who would spring for this drivel are the people who have already done so. So many of you probably thought you were getting something sooo unique and interesting in year one and year two of the club, right? "Xclusive" downloads." "Rare "new" Prince music sent straight 2 ur hard drive "and all of that nonsense? So now he's going to charge those same people AGAIN for the same music on CD and you're applauding him for it? Why not just spread your bumcheeks and say "Come and take me Prince and I'll smile through it all?"

It would be very hard for you to convince anyone that the membership in Prince's club has done anything but decrease since it began. With the brief exception of the number of fans who joined at the beginning of year two when the club announced (and botched) their switch to CDs and had some tour perks, this club has continued to lose membership. Did you ever wonder why the cost of membership had gone down so much? No, it wasn't because 1/4th of the year had already passed by the time the club had started. Then it would have cost $75 to join, going by his previous pricing. It was because Prince was struggling to hold on to the few remaining club members he had left. And apparently, because of the abundant lack of content and benefits of joining. And among those "club benefits?" You actually pay for the "privilege" to purchase his music and then you pay to purchase his music. Where do I sign up for that wonderful opportunity? I can't believe there are still people out there who lap this stuff up like it's rainbow juice or something.

You say "if you haven't heard some of the music offered and want to hear it, buy it and if you have heard all of the music don't buy it." Why is it all or nothing with people like you and Prince? Would it not make infinitely more sense to release 7 individual CDs that people can pick and choose from? Is that so hard to grasp? Instead, Prince is forcing his few remaining fans, some of whom may have never received CNOTE or some other music they were entitled to the first time around because of one of the club's various and sundry errors to buy a massive (and very likely costly) collection of material, the vast majority of which they've heard before? Princely greed and business sense at its best!

I don't know why you're trying to convince yourself that the NPGMC isn't working. I don't know anyone who has left the club, but I do know of peopel who have joined. Plus, the club is still running, so it's obviously doing enough business to offer something like this. Why can't it just be that he responded to some of the fans request for the previous music? I've said it before and I'll say it again: Prince can't please everyone. Every release isn't geared specifically for you.

It amazes me how desparate some people are for attention that all they can do is say negative things. Ultimately, it comes down to if you want to buy it or not. Really, some of the people hear complain so much, makes me wonder why you stick around. Oh yeah, that's right, it's for the attention.

He should let people buy these CDs seperately or as the 7CD set. I mean I really don't need another copy of Xpectation or ONA. But I AM excited to have all the tunes from year 1 & 2 on CD...I am missing a ton of those songs and the ones I do have aren't the best quality in the world.

I think the release is a good idea HOWEVER I hope there's more to these CD's or, failing that, I hope the set is quite cheap.

C-Note and Xpectation fit on one CD. So could The War (if it's still the 20+ minute version) and One Nite Alone.

Just a thought.

Ive been a big critic of the club since its inception. However I welcome this move. I only joined the club this year because it was more affordable in the short term, and despite the fact that ive downloaded most of this stuff, I welcome this release because it shows that the club is listening to the fans. Hopefully in future this will mean a few more box sets (hopefully of un0released stuff).

We know we're gonna be getting a new record in the near future, and this 7 CD set released at the same time is making it quite an exciting few months, particularly for thos of us who werent members first time round to play catch up.

In the last 12 or so months Ill have seen the man live, got the live box set, got a couple of okay instrumental albums, got a couple of freebie downloads, 2 of which are great (reflection & Empty Room), received a 7 CD set which collects together much of the mans sporadic output over the past few years, and hopefull got my hands on a brand spanking new album, with the prospect of a world tour next year. It aint bad!

I know us Prince fans all look back on the golden era that was the 80's salivating at all those amazing releases, but thats over now. Compare his output to that of most other artists in the current music climate, and Prince is still releasing a lot more music than most.

If you dont want this music dont buy it, if you do dont complain about what you're not getting. Fans of other artists dont even have that luxury (poor bastards).

Shut the hell up!!! I am not a member of the club and I may buy the seven disc to complete my collection. If you belong to the club and have this music you are not the target market for the set. In addtion, bootleggers are selling music from the club. Why would't Prince not put everything on disc and make it avalible? Please explain how Prince is forcing you do buy something? Get a grip on reality and stop worrying about how much money Prince is making.

So it's rather official.
