Since I haven't gotten any of his stuff since he started the NPGMC, this is the perfect buy for me. However, it better be in retail shops and not part of a membership because I haven't had one yet and don't want one now or in the future. Just the CDs, please. smile

A tool for not wanting to pay for something twice? A tool for thinking it's a little silly to charge people to access your web site or just to buy your music? A tool for wanting some choice? Yeah, whatever.

Props 2 Prince for listening 2 fans who wanted previous year's music 2 b made available. We all know how disinterested he becomes in previous projects/music.

For some fans this will not b 4 them as they already have it.

He cannot please all of the ppl all of the time. Thats impossible.

Whatever he does in some ppls eyes, especially on here, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? Actually, he's just dumb. The ONLY people who would spring for this drivel are the people who have already done so. So many of you probably thought you were getting something sooo unique and interesting in year one and year two of the club, right? "Xclusive" downloads." "Rare "new" Prince music sent straight 2 ur hard drive "and all of that nonsense? So now he's going to charge those same people AGAIN for the same music on CD and you're applauding him for it? Why not just spread your bumcheeks and say "Come and take me Prince and I'll smile through it all?"

It would be very hard for you to convince anyone that the membership in Prince's club has done anything but decrease since it began. With the brief exception of the number of fans who joined at the beginning of year two when the club announced (and botched) their switch to CDs and had some tour perks, this club has continued to lose membership. Did you ever wonder why the cost of membership had gone down so much? No, it wasn't because 1/4th of the year had already passed by the time the club had started. Then it would have cost $75 to join, going by his previous pricing. It was because Prince was struggling to hold on to the few remaining club members he had left. And apparently, because of the abundant lack of content and benefits of joining. And among those "club benefits?" You actually pay for the "privilege" to purchase his music and then you pay to purchase his music. Where do I sign up for that wonderful opportunity? I can't believe there are still people out there who lap this stuff up like it's rainbow juice or something.

You say "if you haven't heard some of the music offered and want to hear it, buy it and if you have heard all of the music don't buy it." Why is it all or nothing with people like you and Prince? Would it not make infinitely more sense to release 7 individual CDs that people can pick and choose from? Is that so hard to grasp? Instead, Prince is forcing his few remaining fans, some of whom may have never received CNOTE or some other music they were entitled to the first time around because of one of the club's various and sundry errors to buy a massive (and very likely costly) collection of material, the vast majority of which they've heard before? Princely greed and business sense at its best!

I don't know why you're trying to convince yourself that the NPGMC isn't working. I don't know anyone who has left the club, but I do know of peopel who have joined. Plus, the club is still running, so it's obviously doing enough business to offer something like this. Why can't it just be that he responded to some of the fans request for the previous music? I've said it before and I'll say it again: Prince can't please everyone. Every release isn't geared specifically for you.

It amazes me how desparate some people are for attention that all they can do is say negative things. Ultimately, it comes down to if you want to buy it or not. Really, some of the people hear complain so much, makes me wonder why you stick around. Oh yeah, that's right, it's for the attention.
[This message was edited Thu Oct 16 6:22:48 PDT 2003 by wyld1]

Attention from whom? Nimrod devotees of a fallen star? Don't flatter yourself. Actually, I'm not desperate for anything. And I know several people who have left the club in disgust. The people who complained last year to the BBB were not a figment of the imagination...in fact, we were the reason that you're grooving to that piece of garbage Xpectation.

Wow, a businessman who actually listens to the consumer? What a guy! And you know, he still botches it up. Again, what would be sooo hard about releasing the discs individually so people had a choice? I guess in the NPGMC regime, change is a bad thing?

By the way, he's doing enough business that he reduced the cost of joining by 75%? And you call me desperate? Please! Why do I stick around? Here's why: it's the same reason people stare at an accident scene. That's what Prince's career has become.

Shut the hell up!!! I am not a member of the club and I may buy the seven disc to complete my collection. If you belong to the club and have this music you are not the target market for the set. In addtion, bootleggers are selling music from the club. Why would't Prince not put everything on disc and make it avalible? Please explain how Prince is forcing you do buy something? Get a grip on reality and stop worrying about how much money Prince is making.
[This message was edited Thu Oct 16 7:35:18 PDT 2003 by laurarichardson]

you know some people think it is smart to say "I got it on bootlegs"!! They paid it a certain price but now it's officially due for release so they are frustrated and not so smart...

Shut the hell up? Now isn't that mature. And it leaves such room for polite debate and discussion. Yet you go on to prove how you have zero skills at debate when you state:

"If you belong to the club and have this music, you are not the target market for this set."

Hello? The ONLY WAY TO BUY IT IS THROUGH JOINING HIS CLUB, PAYING THE $25 MEMBERSHIP FEE AND THEN EVEN MORE MONEY FOR THE COST OF THE SET!!! The only people dense enough to do this who didn't mind the anal raping they got the previous two years in the club, where they ALREADY HAD THE MUSIC.

I couldn't care less about how much money Prince is making. Where in God's name did you get that from? He's not making a dime from me, he can take you for every cent and I'll just laugh. He's already taken your mind and desire for free will.

As far as bootlegs go, I paid less, had them sooner, and had a choice in what to buy. And that's bad in your eyes? Oh well.

[Sorry to cross-post, but sometimes you gotta spread yer seed, ya know?]

As you all know, I have always gone out of my way to give Prince a break...and I'm as respectful of him as I am of my mother (and she said she respects me last time I popped her one in the mouth).

HOWEVER.

I simply cannot stand by and not comment on The Chocolate Invasion and the possibly impending catastrophe that could ensue if some poor editorial choices are made. I beg the PeePees: DON'T EDIT THE YEAR ONE DOWNLOADS. If that female computer voice isn't at the beginning of Horny Pony to let me know that the song's about self esteem and in no way endorses acts of extra-marital sex, I might actually start to think nasty thoughts, like for REAL.

And for that matter, they better release said track with audible tape hiss in the background, just like The Original Download in the Oh One. Otherwise, it wouldn't be true to the Xperience of being in the club the first year.

I'm excited about this release, y'all!

I think that sometimes some of us forget that we're diehard fans and that not everyone in the world has been a member of NPGMC since day one smile There seem to be a lot of requests for older NPGMC material, and since none of the old tracks are officially available anymore I think a lot of people will be happy.

If Chocolate Invasion is in CD-quality & priced right then I'll definately buy it. Maybe I'm less-excited about this than I would be about a brand new Prince album, but it looks like a nice package. And if it's $50 or so, then I'd say it's definately worth it.

The compilation of NPGMC tracks was mentioned when the first year of the club started. These cds should be no surprise to anyone who has been a member since year one. I always thought it was one of those ideas that would never see the light of day. Sounds great to me.

I wonder if a dvd of all the videos released thru the club will be included? Supercute? Will there be added tracks that we never heard thru the club? I think this is a great move, it will be good to have this stuff on cd, great quality sound. I'm a member from the start, its good when other fans who did not join year one can purchase the music. I just hope for a flash release after this one, a hit-n-run suprise release..new new new music.

Hey dumbass!! What makes you think we are gonna GET the ahdio shows?? The NPGMC tracks are only on two discs, which is what I used to put JUST the monthly downloads on. It would be a 12CD set(just for the all NPGMC tracks) if it included both monthly downloads and ahdio shows.

My guess is all 7 cds will be in cardboard cd cases in a cardboard box. Packaging will be minimal. A booklet would be nice. I'm very curious what the cost will be & how soon it's being released.

I'm not sure about all this, but releasing that piano album yet another time... hmmm... and the War... C-Note... is this also a part of his "i'm gonna retire all of my old hits after this coming tour" idea?

Oh and btw, I thought Prince was going 2 release a lot of NEW MUSIC after leaving WB... not re-releasing stuff all his major fans (cuz let's face it, if u don't have The War / C-Note by now, ur just not purple phreaky nuff) already have, sometimes even twice ...

And oh, im no NPGMC member, tho I convinced my cousin 2 join, so U could say im a NPGMC Guest... biggrin

I'd recommend everyone 2 be a Guest also...

until he starts touring in Europe & USA at least wink

anyhow... why not release a 7 CD set with all new music? The Vault can't be empty, rite?!

That's what I'm sayin'!

No, we're not being force to buy this same music again. But, this stuff takes time, and that's time Prince could be devoting to new music or at least releasing some of the heavy bootlegs. This is another slap in the face, and I've run out of cheeks to turn...

why not split this up?

I wouldn't mind buying the first 2 years, but the rest of it?

This is a lot of money, and the music in those first two years wasn't that great.

I can't stand most of the poor High material. It sounds so rushed and lazy.

I wouldn't mind The War though.

just a suggestion to those who are troubled by buying the new set and getting a cd that you already own, why not give the first copy away to someone? that's what i do when i grow tired of a cd or no longer enjoy listening to it. it's better to let someone who doesn't have or never heard the cd get it as a gift or a nice gesture.

1) Prince SHOULD (and may still...) divide the CD's up so they can be purchased seperatley. He could then offer the box set version at a bargain price (of 3-4 discs). This IS important, not cos some people want to bitch and moan, but it makes greater sense for HiM and his FANS.
From reading posts it's obvious the 2 HIGHLIGHTS of the set are C-Note & Empty Room (i'm not a member, and would consider joining JUST for ths, but i AIN'T paying for it all... my choice). Offering them seperate would mean those subborn / tight / choosy / whatever fans can make Prince a profit, aswell as the general 7 Disc set buying public...

it suits both parties. so i do think Prince is missing a trick here.

2) The Set will certainly be available to the general public, and more than likley it will be pretty cheap within a couple of months... (i've seen ONA and RC for £20 and £8 including P&P)

3) If the new album is out on Universal then Prince won't be able to continue the club. it will be a confict of interests. so this COULD be a sort of swansong for NPGMC.
