It´s funny how the club works...you have to pay to download the stuff, and then some people will pay again for the CD. It happened to TRC and it will happen again and again.
As I said 100 times before...I think the club is a great idea for special recordings, rehearsals, soundboard recordings of concerts, etc. But it only works this way sometimes (like C-NOTE, for example).

This seems like a very nice and neat way to draw closure to all the music that's been floating around over the course of NPGMC's existence these past three years. All the liquid files finally put into solid form and all the rarities made available in one collection.

I wonder if this box set is going to be the club's swansong, or if maybe next year is going to bring an entirely different song and dance, and he's clearing the board to play on a whole different level?

As for the people complaining about having to buy duplicates of things like ONA as part of this box, I'm not going to be so simple as to say "buy it or don't", though that sentiment is certainly true. It seems as if this box set will be comprised mainly of previously released material. Some people will want this material in a better format than was offered online for download. Some people will want the packaging. Some people are completists. Others are just happy with what they've downloaded, or with a copy that was burned for them by a friend. Really, with a little bit of resourcefulness and satisfaction with what you have (or don't have), everyone can be happy.

I don't know why you're trying to convince yourself that the NPGMC isn't working. I don't know anyone who has left the club, but I do know of peopel who have joined

I left the club...

This set does interest me but not if I have to join the club again to get it.

And the cool thing about it is, you can have someone order the set for you, so you don't have to join again.

Props 2 Prince for listening 2 fans who wanted previous year's music 2 b made available. We all know how disinterested he becomes in previous projects/music.

For some fans this will not b 4 them as they already have it.

He cannot please all of the ppl all of the time. Thats impossible.

Whatever he does in some ppls eyes, especially on here, he is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? Actually, he's just dumb. The ONLY people who would spring for this drivel are the people who have already done so. So many of you probably thought you were getting something sooo unique and interesting in year one and year two of the club, right? "Xclusive" downloads." "Rare "new" Prince music sent straight 2 ur hard drive "and all of that nonsense? So now he's going to charge those same people AGAIN for the same music on CD and you're applauding him for it? Why not just spread your bumcheeks and say "Come and take me Prince and I'll smile through it all?"

It would be very hard for you to convince anyone that the membership in Prince's club has done anything but decrease since it began. With the brief exception of the number of fans who joined at the beginning of year two when the club announced (and botched) their switch to CDs and had some tour perks, this club has continued to lose membership. Did you ever wonder why the cost of membership had gone down so much? No, it wasn't because 1/4th of the year had already passed by the time the club had started. Then it would have cost $75 to join, going by his previous pricing. It was because Prince was struggling to hold on to the few remaining club members he had left. And apparently, because of the abundant lack of content and benefits of joining. And among those "club benefits?" You actually pay for the "privilege" to purchase his music and then you pay to purchase his music. Where do I sign up for that wonderful opportunity? I can't believe there are still people out there who lap this stuff up like it's rainbow juice or something.

You say "if you haven't heard some of the music offered and want to hear it, buy it and if you have heard all of the music don't buy it." Why is it all or nothing with people like you and Prince? Would it not make infinitely more sense to release 7 individual CDs that people can pick and choose from? Is that so hard to grasp? Instead, Prince is forcing his few remaining fans, some of whom may have never received CNOTE or some other music they were entitled to the first time around because of one of the club's various and sundry errors to buy a massive (and very likely costly) collection of material, the vast majority of which they've heard before? Princely greed and business sense at its best!

Shut the hell up!!! I am not a member of the club and I may buy the seven disc to complete my collection. If you belong to the club and have this music you are not the target market for the set. In addtion, bootleggers are selling music from the club. Why would't Prince not put everything on disc and make it avalible? Please explain how Prince is forcing you do buy something? Get a grip on reality and stop worrying about how much money Prince is making.
[This message was edited Thu Oct 16 7:35:18 PDT 2003 by laurarichardson]

you know some people think it is smart to say "I got it on bootlegs"!! They paid it a certain price but now it's officially due for release so they are frustrated and not so smart...

I know, what the hell??? Those NPGMC trax better not be from year 1 and 2. CNOTE, Xpectation(this better have Xenophobia track on it!!!) and ONA Piano album too??? Damn! I've gotten ONA Piano album TWICE already?? WTF??? This has to be fake!! I can't believe he would release this much rehash all over again. I think he should put them up as side releases SEPARATELY!!! Not together!!! Fuck that, I don't need all this rehash all over again. I spent time backing, converting and burning all this crap before, I guess I did it all in vain!!

Due out at the end of November, apparently. $50.00 US retail, $20 US postage and packing to Europe.

Well, not too bad anyway. $70 is about £47, which I think is reasonable for this little package. Unfortunately as soon as customs see the declaration stuck on the outside of the package with $70 on it, they'll sting us for AT LEAST £20 in import duties and fees. Import duties are liable if the value is over approx £30, INCLUDING shipping.
This isn't the clubs fault, everyone has to pay import duty, unless the package is marked as personal/zero value - HINT HINT.
I'm still chuffed, even though I've already got everything in the set, though I'd like to know if this will be on general release before I stump up the cash. Waiting an extra week against the cost of the import fees could swing it for me.

Well, if the songs sound "full" as compared to the rather
flat and lifeless versions we downloaded, I think I will
just be a sucker and dish out some $$ on this.

Just the thought of owning C-Note in excellent cd quality
is enough to make my mouth water.

So yeah, good idea, probably.

As I said earlier, there are 10 hours worth of Ahdio shows, there's no way this will fit into the 3 CDs that could be possible for this. Doesn't seem likely all the Ahdio shows will be included, possibly just one (Glam Slam mix = show 11 I think).

Jeez, all the moaning from people. If you don't want it, don't think it's good value, then don't buy it, no one is forcing you for chrissake!

Well, since we know the Ahdio shows won't be on the CD entitled C-Note, ONA, The War, or Xpectation, it is only 2-3 CDs.

It's therefore clear the Ahdio shows will not be included, as 2-3 CDs (really two, since the Glam Slam mix does sound like the Jules mix-tape CD) will not fit!

The Glam Slam mix is the final Ahdio show from Year One - sans the last three tracks (Question of U, Groove On and Courtin Time) They streamed this show in one of the Club Rooms when the site opened this year.
