PlectrumElectrum: Is Anotherlove about Andy Allo? I wast just listening to PlectrumElectrum for the first time since ages, I must say it is more entertaining than I remembered. Another later Prince album that I didn't much enjoy upon release but turns out not to be as bad as I thought.
Anyway. let me get to the point. When listening to Anotherlove I couldn't help but wonder if the song is about Andy Allo. Especially this bit of the lyrics made me wonder: "Everything we used 2 share
Does anyone know anything about who this song is about?
(Yeah, I realise I could probably look it up using Google or Princevault, but it is more fun to have some actual discussion/speculation here...) RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

It's a cover so I'd guess it's not about Andy Allo. Unless it's one hell of a coincidence. Although, perhaps his decision to cover the song was inspired by Andy Allo?

Although it's a cover, the end section where he goes off is 'ad libbed' from him and could potentially be about Andy Allo.
"Used 2 think eye was so much fun Now eye'm just the guilty 1 Everything we used 2 share Our clothes and even our hair now all u see is what eye did But how come eye can't - tell me that kid Behind my back eye'm just a so and so But eye'm the greatest living soul U'll ever know"

Yes, it’s a cover song but he added some lyrics incl the line you quote.
And you’d have to say there is a good chance that could be about Andy Allo. . Cover song or not, and it’s a complete rework musically, I think it’s one of his best songs in recent years . Edit - MinorG and I must have been typing at the same time and they stole in! [Edited 2/27/20 13:26pm]

Does anyone know anything about who this song is about? Yes. It's a cover of Alice Smith's 2013 song BUT the lyrics you posted were added by Prince. He and Allo actually did share clothes, because she arrived with nothing suitable. She also talked him into his natural hair. You can Google her various versions of sharing clothes. Your post was like one of those food bloggers' recipes where they never get to the point, so I did that for you. 😂😂😂 To the second poster: you're welcome, too. . [Edited 2/27/20 13:27pm] Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

LMAO!!! seriously tho...why just Andy Allo?...why couldnt it be about Mayte?...or Manuela?... or Carmen Electra?...or Vanity?...or ALL of them?..why would he say "Behind my back I'm just a so and so, But I'm the greatest living soul youll ever know", about Andy Allo, while continuing to do songs with her and produce her work?...makes zero sense.

This line makes people think it's about Andy: 'Everything we used to share, our clothes and even our hair' . Possible as they apparantly shared clothes on tour and of course he grew an afro like her

Ah yes, so he releases two albums at the same time - one with a duet with Andy and the other with an Andy diss track? And then his next album has another collab with her??? Try harder folks. Or, don't.

I think after 2013, they had their "ups and downs" and perhaps this is a reflection.

He shared clothes and styling tools with mayte as well, she’s spoken on that topic a few times. Would it need to be someone as recent as Andy? Oh I just saw someone else said this too. I feel like it’s a song about a wife. I don’t know much about Manuela And he maybe they shared clothes and hair but I feel like at that time he was more into Actual suits and she was in dresses which he couldn’t have pulled off. Mmm. Yes, we don't know. All speculation. But that line about the clothes and hair could quite possibly be about her. . His sock selling hairdresser said she inspired his afro and he made it known he wore her fluffy boots etc. But it could be coincidence, who knows. .

Did anyone see that Andys first Instagram post was the day before we lost prince? It’s a beautiful photo with the caption ‘you always know how to make me smile’ I wonder who it was to. P was dating Judith hill right?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think he was truly mentoring and producing Judith Hill...I don't get romantic vibes. He was also in frequent contact with Natalya accross the pond...likely the same as above. My guess is that Prince and Andy had feelings but had 'irreconciable differences' Prince seemed weak and had been fighting flu-like symptoms for awhile and IMO did not have a real girlfriend in the usual sense. Opiates also diminish one's abilities.

I think it's cute that you all think his songs were about real life. Maybe in the early days, but you really think he had women doing him wrong left and right all the way to the end? Prince was not a confessional songwriter.
