It's trifling, really. Andy (Bravo) does the same thing with RH series. It's funny how every season has to have a "villian" and the posts are filled with Team-this or Team-that. I thought we were grown-ups. Life is filled with too much real drama, so why create any more?

True. Yesterday a caller called into his 'Watch What Happens Live' show, and Dina Manzo was on, and they asked her if she thinks the show ruined some family relationships, and Dina said "Yes". He didn't look to happy when she said that, and changed the subject to the next caller. But it's true, quite a few divorces and ruined friendships happened because of those shows.

Yes, because everyone knows, I have always loved Mayte and thought of her as this demure princess type, but when stuff like that comes out of her mouth and you're reminded that she was with that nasty hood rat, you think :O g-ross. No telling what went on with him! YUCK!
Always reminds me of those posters at the gynocologists office that show if you've been with 1, 2, 3 so on people- how many people that is multiplied by who they've been with etc. and here she was, Prince being her first and then she goes to Tommy Lee who will (and has according to record) slept with every nasty scag on the tour bus PLUS Pamela who I once saw on Howard Stern saying she'd slept with about 50 guys (at the time she was YOUNG!) and my jaw hit the floor- and you just think- G-ROSS!

but prince ain't squeaky clean himself b4 he got with mayte and b4 he got married and 2wards the end of their marriage he was doing his dirt man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Yes, I knew someone would say that- and it's true! But, I somehow think Prince used way more discretion with who he brought home whereas Tommy Lee looks like he would sleep with any ole wanky whore. You know it's true!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah some of the women Prince reportedly have flings with are kind of sketchy too. Robin sounds like she was wild before she met Prince and I think I have heard of an exotic dancer in the Minneapolis area... so yeah, Prince has a little dirt under his nails as well. IMHO Prince and Tommy Lee are both sluts.
Prince only presents a cleaner package, but both men have fame and money so women throw themselves at those men and I am sure they enjoy every bit of it.
When it comes to women, Prince and Tommy are the same, Tommy only presents himself in a "tattooed-rocker" image.
Its no wonder Carmen and Mayte slept with both men.

I guess you're right but I can't help it, when I look at Prince I think "Clean" - when I look at Tommy Lee I think "Dirty and gross"- but I guess it's true, a slut's a slut.
You just look at Prince though and you know he smell's good, he looks good, he's clean- you look at Tommy Lee and you know he put on whatever was on the floor and you KNOW he smells like liquor, cigarettes and hot pockets!

Hot pockets as in processed cheap cheesy meat wrapped in breadding?
Pretty accurate! At least he looks like he smells that way.

Like I said before, Tommy has always looked like he doesn't take a shower.
Prince on the other hand, looks like he has a daily ritual of 3 showers per day...along with his royal bathers. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

No girl! Hot pockets like in pussy! haha-
That's what my friend Natallie calls it anyway, your "hotpocket"

Sorry l.l., but that's just being judgemental and holding up double standards with partiality towards P. . Prince has always had a reputation as a 'ho until only recently, and with songs about incest (Sister) and those touting lyrics like "I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth", or having the gual to put 16 year olds onstage in lingerie & garters with teddy bears (helllooo...that Lolita ish is basically pedophillia light) I would hardly say he's some angel above reproach .
Besides, we don't exactly know the know the backstory behind how Tommy Lee knew these porn chicks or how he introduced them to his then finance Mayte; let's not forget that Tommy Lee was married and father of the children to the world's most famous blond Playboy Playmate, Pam Anderson.. so him being around naked chicks all the time probably isn't that big of a deal or even so deeply into the "gutterbucket" variety as we would presume.

Just watched the latest episode, and I must agree with all you posters who think
A) it's childish and hypocritical for Mayte to kill lobsters just to win an argument. She says in the interview portion that it's sad they had to die but if they helped her prove her point then it's worth it. What BS. They didn't even help her win the argument - Jessica never watched them "cry out" while boiling and she never was won over. They just died in the stupid bathtub while they were all arguing like children on the patio. As someone posted, lobsters live in the ocean (saltwater), not bathwater. But as someone else pointed out regarding the PETA ad she posed for, PETA is all about shock tactics and whatever it takes - they're quite sanctimonious and militant in my opinion - so maybe Mayte buying those lobsters (supporting the groceries that stock them) and killing them in the tub is A-OK with the PETA folks. B) Andrea should have never brought up J's abortion - she wasn't "trying to understand the hierarchy of life," she was picking on J, and that's BS. And Sheree shouldn't have jumped on the abortion thing either. And Mayte shouldn't get upset about somebody else's abortion just because she can't have children herself. By that logic, she should be upset about everyone out there using birth control! Childish and BS. I had sympathy for her baby's death and her other loss, but this just makes me think "get over yourself." If you are grown women supporting each other as women, you don't make judgments about other women's reproductive rights. It's not like she was having abortions willy-nilly as a form of birth control. C) this episode brought the show and exes appeal down a big notch. Nicole is the only one coming out unscathed, but then she is co-creater and a producer of the show, so no wonder the editing is probably done in her favor.
This episode makes me wonder about the relationship between her and Prince. It takes two to make a marriage work. I never believed it was all his fault - there's always two sides to a story, and we don't know anything about them as people or what really happened (paid tabloid stories don't count) - but this really makes me think it's not just Prince who may be hard to live with.
Partial Molar Pregnancy - I had a friend in Germany who had this. She was NOT vegan nor vegetarian, and she had two healthy children with her husband after this. I went to the hospital to visit her after she had the "pregnancy" removed. It is caused by two sperm fertilizing the same one egg, which is not supposed to happen. As another poster said, a properly functioning normal egg forms a shield the instant it is impregnanted by one sperm and does not allow another sperm to impregnate. I looked up PMP on WebMD, which does NOT list lack of meat protein as a risk factor, in fact, it is a lack of beta carotene which is found in orange tinted fruits & vegetables (quote from WebMD):
Things that may increase your risk of having a molar pregnancy include: Age. The risk for complete molar pregnancy steadily increases after age 35.2 A history of molar pregnancy, especially if you've had two or more.3 A history of miscarriage. A diet low in carotene. Carotene is a form of vitamin A. Women who don't get enough of this vitamin have a higher rate of complete molar pregnancy.2

^ I agree with what you said especially about the pmp My question is what triggers the egg to become impervious to other sperm? I know it is because the egg is fertized. But what signals that the egg has even penetrated? I am trying to remember. Is it an enzyme that is on the head of the sperm that reacts with the egg to send a message that fertilization has occurred? That rings a bell. A protein enzyme. I wish I could find that information. I'm very curious. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

If I'm reading b/t the lines correctly, what you'd really like to know is whether it's Prince or Mayte who's unable to have babies. 1st - a PMP does not mean either parent is infertile. The vast vast majority of people do not suffer another PMP or CMP. Similarly, chances are extremely high that they will not have another Pfeiffer syndrome baby if it was caused by spontaneous genetic mutation, not an inherited gene. But we do not know either of their family history, and they themselves may not have known it, until they've had genetic counseling, and then they and their doctors and whomever they chose to tell are the only ones who would know that. But assuming it's spontaneous mutation, the chances are that they can have a baby that does not have Pfeiffer. 2nd - The fertilization process does involve an enzyme and a protein, among others. When a sperm reaches the egg, the acrosome reaction releases enzymes in the sperms head to help break down the egg's outer coat and burrow its way in. Once the sperm has made it in and fuses with the egg, a protein is released into the egg from the sperm which causes the egg to signal a cortical reaction that seals it, preventing other sperm from coming in. It's a delicate and inextricable balance of sperm and egg reacting off each other. 3rd - points 1 & 2 being said, the risk factors associated with PMP are attributed to the female (the female's history of miscarriage, the female's geographic origin (i.e., race), the female's diet of carotene). There is also scientific circumstantial evidence in favor of a mistake in the egg resulting in polyspermy. Orgnote if you're curious about that, but the details aren't important.
Back to the show - M really did come off passive-aggressive. Why not speak up like a grown-up at the dinner if you disagree with J about crabs/lobsters not having feelings? I'd be pissed off too if someone colluded behind my back to pull a stunt to "prove a point" and then ambushed me about it. Not excusing J's overreaction to S having veal, especially when she offered not to have it, but M came off childish. Also, didn't want to chime in about it before, but yes she also seems very boring. It's not just on this show & recent interviews when she doesn't have much to say, and I don't blame it on any supposed "gag order" either - she never said anything interesting even back in the '90s! Any solo interview with her in print or on TV was really boring. What made her interesting were the great performances with P and the mytique surrounding that association. The mystique is gone.

I agree with you. The mytique in connection with Prince was the thing that made her very interesting, charming etc. If we take that away, all I see is a nice Puerto Rican lady that is okay looking and has a great physique. Most importantly:
1) If she wants to have a career as an actress, what acting qualities does she perform in those series. I see nothing. She seems very boring, so what is she trying to aim?
2) If she is in just for the money, which I believe is the case. I hated the remark of her mother. Why is her mother interested in all that Prince gossip? Why is she in the limelight cause of that? That is so cheap & tacky.
3) Overall I came to that conclusion: I wasn't sure if Mayte still had some connection to Prince, if she mattered at all for him, but now I think she is the least person he really wants to know about. I think he hates her, he must have for some long time now.
She's cashing on Prince reputation yet insisting she doesn't want to be associated to Prince. Fair enough, but what else does she offer? I mean what does she do? It's very contradictory and bullshit.
Anyone care to explain, cause I don't understand her motivation at all. Maybe cause the other ladies have kids or have been married for a very long time OR are still in touch with their exes. Mayte's marriage has been over such a long time ago, it makes no sense at all and she is even not doing anything exciting in those series. She's the most boring. Side note about Tommy Lee - I mentioned it a while back in a GD or PR thread, I worked for a family law attorney in Beverly Hills who was the attorney for TL in his divorce with Pamela Anderson, I met him when he had to come in to sign papers. He did not "smell." I think he was wearing some T-shirt & jeans, and definitely a hat. What really struck me in that very brief interaction was that he was so polite! And I'm a petite mixed Asian girl, recent college grad at the time - there was no one in the office to "keep him in check" if he were inclined to be disrespectful in any way. It was after hours, nobody was in the office suite, dark, my boss had gone home. The papers needed to be signed that day and TL could only come late. The attorney left instructions for me & there were those yellow sticky arrows that say "sign here" on a few pages. The hallway was dark so I heard him down the hall going "hellooo? hellooo?" I came out and told him I was the assistant, and he shook my hand with a "nice to meet you" and followed my instructions with all the sincerity as if I were the attorney himself. He also thanked me for staying late. Really nice. It took probably less than a minute, but it was just me and him, and he was so courteous and kind of quiet. Tommy's politeness to me also stuck out because of the many irritated assholes I came across while working in that office! Many of my attorney's clients were rich and/or celebrities, and they treat people who "work for them" and do not have Harvard Law degrees (which I did not have at that time but my boss did) like insignificant bugs. Remember Billy Zane (the jerk in "Titanic")? Kind of a jerk in real life too!

:worship: Yes you totslly understood the reason for my questions. And thanks for the information. Cause this is just what information I was looking for. I have for sometime wondered if the baby dying happened as purely by chance or by family genetic tendency. To hear about a possible 2nd pregnancy to end due to a rare chromosome/genetic mistake to the same 2 people.... Well, I just had a sinking feeling that 1 of them would need lots of advance science help to have a healthy baby. And with Prince's reputation about not liking doctors and more wholistic approach to health, welli figured if it was Prince he would not go the route of medical intervention to reproduce. Between you and artist76 y'all posts has really taken the wind out of my sail about the prince-mayte star crossed lovers fairy tale I have imagined. I guess it is just best for mayte to just move on. There are lots and lots ( I would say most) successful actresses who are boring in real life and have no real experience in acting except acting workshops/classes, beauty and a little luck. Mayte posses all these things except the luck part so here's " good luck" to her. I hope prince doesn't hate her because I'm convinced that she is still hung up on her Prince ( and not necessarily the Prince of today). So I'm still "team Mayte" but yeah the past week's show and especially the next one has definitely removed a bit of that injured lamb that needs to be protected aura she has IMHO projected. Yeah, move on. Don't do another season tv show about your Ex. Do YOU. (think fantasia's song.... Do YOU). "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Carotene is not "a form of vitamin A." It is a vitamin A precursor. That means the body has to convert it to vitamin A - which is only found in animal foods. (The confusion about carotene/vitamin A stems from the fact that the FDA allows food processors to list carotenes as vitamin A. They aren't.)
And the conversion of carotenes to vitamin A is spotty, even when a person is in optimal health. It is diminished if you eat a low-fat diet (which a vegan diet certainly would be), are under any kind of stress (physical or otherwise), and a host of other conditions. It actually isn't a lack of meat protein that is the problem, it is the lack of animal-based fats, which both provide vitamin A and aid in the carotene conversion.
Obviously, we can't know if Mayte had a vitamin A deficiency. But it certainly is not out of the realm of possibility - given what we know about Prince's dietary proclivities at the time.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I have to say, I agree with ALL of this- I was on the phone last night with a girlfriend and the show came up, she and I have always thought Mayte was gorgeous and fabulous and we were both kind of - "Wah-wah-waaaahhhhh " about her. We both have come to the conclusion that there isn't much to her , as far as being an interesting person goes. In fact, for once I see how Prince may have wanted to end the relationship and move on. She seems to be one of those people who sort of assumes the identity of whomever she's with at the time and doesn't have much to bring to the table on her end. But, she does seem to be a GOOD person, even if a little passive-agressive.
As for Tommy Lee- Thanks for your story on him- I admit to judging a book by a cover and that is wrong! He does come across as sweet and I could see that he would be polite.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why Mayte isn't focusing on her dance career and going in different avenues with it like Andrea is. Mayte obviously still has the body and talent to keep doing it, and not only that, I believe THAT is what would make her all the more interesting. I'm not sure what she does for income these days (besides the show) but it's almost like she's in this comfortable phase or something. Either that or she feels misguided and confused as to what to do next with her life (other than finding a good guy to marry and have kids with). I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Hmmm....we are all now assuming she's boring as hell, and we have no idea how their relationship was like or how she is like, so it's lotta nonsense talking right now.
The only thing that I see right now is that there are women that will do ANYTHING to reach what they want. Mayte's mother is one of them, and so is or was Mayte. They both did all to get to Prince, so he was a big damn fool. Now table's are turned, now she's looking again.
I always used to think Prince was the pimp for luring teenage girls, and thought Mayte was victimized, but I get a much better perspective. Her mother is the real big pimp, and she's still trying HARD.
I don't like that vibe around them at all, they still got it, don't they?

I've seen Mayte in enough quest spots on TV shows (Nip/Tuck, The Closer, Las Vegas... to name a few) to see she is a good actress but not "stellar".
She has not grabbed the right role yet IMHO.
She is an active working actress, she gets regular work and I think she did this show for exposure and face recognition.
She should have done this type show RIGHT after her stint with Tommy Lee on his reality show, then maybe she would be a much more sought after actress today.
I will not knock her hustle, because ALL those ladies are on that show for the very same reason. Nothing wrong with that from my POV.
